This is an improvement over Sapara and it is made of bronze. For adventurers who prefer the curved middle-eastern style, this is their choice of sword.
If Final Fantasy XI was an offline game with the same storyline (up until Chains of Promathia), it would've been one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

This can be found in Port Bastok before you get on the airship a merchant sells them there if Bastok is in 1st or 2nd Place
Confirmed, the merchant's name is Sughandi. With max fame, the Scimitar costs just over 4k. Bastok was in second place in conquest at the time of purchase.

I bought mine from the weapons merchant in Bastok Markets for roughly 4k.

I'm guessing this item isn't common in the AH because it's just not worth it to craft.
Also, I've just combed through every merchant in the Bastok Markets district and not a single one of them sells this. (not available, not just out of stock)
