I believe this and Yew rod will wear down moats the fastest. Used it in Rolanberry Fields with Insect Paste and it wears them fast and no breaks yet. (wooden wear down fish faster then synthetic but synthetic holds them on line for a longer period of time) They break easier on rusty items but if you dont reel them in you should fish moats pretty quickly ^^

If you happen to have a stockpile of Willow Lumber, do NOT attempt to powerlevel off Willow Rods... they sell back to NPCs for *18g* with high-level San D'orian fame.
i have a little TT friend who is at lv. 6 fishing and buys about 8 of these rods at a time to fish moat carp in windy. i guess it helps him lv. fast he went from lv. 1 to lv. 6 in one week end but i also think hes not making as much gil as he would if he were using the bamboo or TT rod. if u don't have the gil to buy the bamboo or TT then this seems to be a good way to start(never tryed it myself but me and my TT friend fish together everyday and i see him progressing just as or faster then what i did).
You can also give the Rod back to the boy, makes a few npc around you say nice things.. not sure it will help give you a future quest.. im sure theres some point to it other then a title!
