May I point out that growing ice crystals with grain seed in insanity. Grain seeds sell well to rice farmers. For example on Seraph now, stack of grain is 30k. Stacks of ice crystals sell for 3k. If yield of grain is 5-6 crystls, you're losing half your money from just selling the grain you farmed and buying the crystals from AH, unless you have some sort of weird self-sufficiency thing going on.

a lot of the times there are no set formulas it seems. there might be formulas that get you close to certain items but not always. it depends on the day you plant them, the pot you use, the seeds you use, the crystals you feed, and what day you feed the crystal, not sure if moon cycle affects it, but i won't be surprised if it is. all these factors affect the outcome. i've tried very precise and meticulous formulas time after timem yet i still get different results most of the time.

when I threw grain seeds into a brass pot I got tarutaru rice when I fed fire...let's see what I get with the veg seeds...

All you need to do to get 4 ice crystals is to plant grain seeds in your flower pot at your mog house and tehn feed it a fire crystal!
