Any reports of this maybe giving you a hidden Aquan Killer effect? I find that the Robber Crabs in Kuftal Tunnel become intimidated by my presence when I'm using this food while soloing as a DRG73/RDM36 (skilling up my staff).

gilsellers want you to /nin so you have to spend more... amazing the people that are "so called" experts and what they recommend.

Still, it makes your life easier in the same way the massive rng presence would at a boss fight.

You could even blame SE, lol.

I've also noticed odd effects while fighting...I can't remember for sure but it may have been clippers in Qufim Island...I for one vote for more research on this.

Ness Rugetomal doesnt sell Boiled Crab
# Jan 15 2006 at 2:18 AM Rating: Decent
Whoa, first post on this thing but Ness Rugetomal, NPC in Windurst Waters located at F-10 does not sell the Boiled Crab. Makes me angry... If anyone already mentioned this, sorry but I can't submit a correction. If someone out there could, it wuld make this site lovely =D See you again~

The condition that this item is sold is Windy in First Place in Conquest. This is not a regional NPC which only sells items if that town is in control of it, the items sold are based on town rank.

I have to agree with Emerje on that one.If your nation is in 2nd or last place they do not sell as many items as if they were in first.Jeuno and other merchants this does not apply to if they sell out there gone.Could be a couple of days or maybe even weeks before they will again. The only other way they will get more is if someone sold them to the NPC.

There's nothing to correct, they're sold there, you just aren't there under the right conditions. These non-region specific merchants don't always sell everything at all times.

I had a 75% HQ rate at 60.6 cooking skill ^^
That sure made my SMN pal who is doing her mini avatar battles happy...since I gave her the steamed crab for materials cost.

This food also gives Parrying +10.

[Edit] I've some to notice my AF hat (I'm a THF) gives me +10 Parrying skill, so I'm not sure whether it's this food or the hat giving me skill.

After the february 2005 patch this becomes one of the items that can be asked for in the guild in exchange of guild points.

Limit is 3360 Guild Points

Boiled Crab gives 450 Guild Points
Steamed Crab gives 550 Guild Points

Ness Rugetomal (Standard Merchant) (Windurst Waters North F-10 inside the Rarab Tail Hostelry) sells Boiled Crab with Windurst 1st in conquest to a Fame 9 Rank 5 citizen of Windurst for 2070g each.

After the update with a lvl 25 PLD/WAR....

Vit +2
Def raised from 153 (w/protect) to 195 (w/ protect and Boiled Crab)

Looks like the lowered the Vit bounus and raised the defence bonus to somewhere in the 27% range.

More on the subject
It is easy to farm the ingredients for this.
You'll be levelling a lot on crabs, just dont toss the meat.
Also take a low level job into ghelsba for crystals

I generally make a nice profit on this.
Craft firesday new moon for more HQ result

Synthing
# Nov 02 2004 at 9:53 AM Rating: Decent
This is all in my opinion but not what to use as a PLD but what to Synth if you are a PLD with a level 62 cooking skill. Since the chances of getting HQ synth on Boiled Crab are much higher (half the time) because the Boiled Crabs lv cap is 27 I would go with the Boiled Crab, but if you are buying Def Food from AH then I would buy Fish Mithkabob because they cost less.

....yes it last 2 times as long but ur gonna be the tank if ur using steamed crab. if u die 15 min into the food ur also down what would have been an extra boiled crab. u gotta look at it both ways, nobody is invincible especially with humans for pt members lol

I know I'm selfish, but I usually won't eat ANY food, unless i know that the party is good enough for me to use it. I don't see why I should waste my food on the party with so much down time that my 30 min goes to waste.

Perhaps the party wouldn't have so much downtime if you were eating food, since you'd be taking less damage and they'd have to use less mp to cure you.

That means if you synthesize it successfully you will get one boiled crab as a result, some things you synthesize will result in more than one, like if you make arrows you get 33 for each success and so on

change the def from 22 to 22.9% increase.

Also, there's a +attack category...however there's no +defense category...and all the meat +attack% is correct, yet there's no bonuses for +defense% (not +defense raw) on cooked crab products, or on fishkabob.

The NPC vender is the cooking guild. To give you an idea what the cooking guild sells them for, 1 (ONE/SINGLE) meat-mithkabob sells for 800.

Tested and tired. 22.9% defence increse. Use it every time. PLD
Yes is does.....
# Feb 06 2004 at 10:27 AM Rating: Decent
Yes this does increase your DEF 22% =) If you a PLD or even a WAR it is some of the best you can use for DEF boost.

*Steamed Crab is better but ALOT more expensive and hard to get.

What a lot of people take for granted on the HQ Syth food is, yes it is more expensive but it lasts twice as long. In addition to that, most HQ synth food adds more bonuses then their base.

You see Meat-kabobs on shiva for 200/per and Cheifkabobs for 500/per. One stack of chief-kabobs uses one less inventory slot for the same timespan worth of meat-kabob. That and the cheifkabob gives much more of an attack bonus.

Summary: If HQ food is available and is only twice the cost ALWAYS buy it. If it is more than it is a judgement call.
