Just buy it. Unless you have some form of TH don't waste your time. I'm about to solo number 78 as blm/rdm without seeing a claw drop. 30k and 6 hours I could have spent doing something else.

I killed about 50-75+ yesterday with a few friends with no drop. Tonight killed around 35 of them with another friend who has TH4. We finally got the drop on the last one. There are some located in E-7/F-7 of Vunkerl Inlet [S] which con easy prey and decent challenge to 75.

Good luck to all while hunting them, and keep your patience.

I checked the AH for the claw (leviathen) and it was going for 30K each... so i was thinking screw that i'll just farm it.
...yeah drop rate sucks killed about 20 in batallia downs... near jugner entrance... still no drop... about to kill more

these guys are really not that hard to kill as a SAM75/NIN37 they were curing themselves for around 468+ ...if you have a good evasion build and swap in stength for WS these guys are not hard, pretty bad accuracy but do hit hard, about 60-90 a hit. once i'm in the yellow i'll run by a pixie and get a free Cure IV. love the new areas ^^

yea i've been fighting these suckers for a while since a 14% waning crescent and currently i'm at new moon 0% and their plenilune embrace move was curing around 400-490 but at 0% it has been curing around 240-260 HP each time so they have been mad easy, also ive been soloing as a 75 drg/whm so i've noticed their attack speed is pretty slow compared to things i'm used to soloing like puks and colibris...but yea ive been at this four hours now with no claw drop, this is ridiculous, the drop rate is horrendous and not having TH makes it that much worse ... also i <3 the pixies just randomly comin along and givin cure IV's also they dont hit that hard, from about 25-60 normal hit and 100-120 crit, all in all an easy solo for a drg/mage and i'm not even wearing a drachen armet, but as the moon got a little fuller again they got more difficult, faster attack speeds, more dmg per hit, plenilune embrace cured for more again and so on, so be careful around these if there is a pretty full moon.

P.S. While writing this message i finally obtained the claw...after only like 150 kills -_-
Bastok gets shafted again..

Killed for 3hours total during differnt moon phases these sucka's in Battila S

Estimated 0/70-80

Their HP cure move is based on the phases of the moon. At low moon the max their healing move does is 480HP, i have not witnessed it going any lower and i should imagine around 400 is the least this move can heal for.

The max i have seen is 1100, and i believe the cap is around 1300 HP healed for one move. One of their other moves seemed to give it some kind of killer trait. As PLD/RDM i was able to intimidate it due to either my undead killer trait or the beast killer on my shield (guessing the latter) But when it used this move the only person getting intimidated was me so either it turns your stats against you or simply increases its killer traits which allow it to imtimidate you.

Yea these suckers are pretty stingy with the drop, and meleeing them really coaxes them to use Plenilune Embrace. Also, I've noticed at night, they have a pretty quick HP regen that makes em hard to solo if ur sleep nuking them.. That's how i've been killin em on my rdm/blm.. what a bitch drop

I've killed a ton of these with TH4 and the claws still refuse to drop. If you're trying to get a claw for the Bastok quest, I recommend just buying the item on the AH. Soloing the gnoles can be quite hard due to their Plenilune Embrace TP attack that can heal anywhere from 1000 to 1223 HP.

Be careful, and patient.

dropped of Gnoles north of jugner forest [s] zone and Decrepit gnoles all over jugner forest [s]. I've found killing these in groups at least of 2-3 is harder,. i haven't confirmed this, but it seems the more people in the party the more the gnoles HP recovery move heals them. i was duoing the ones in batallia with a PLD and he'd recover almost half his hp each time, when i solo'd them they were only getting like 1/8th hp back maybe a little more. again i don't know if this is a fact but that's just how it seemed, we had to zone an Easy Prey one in batallia me and the pld, alone i never even had them use the move more than once because they were dead before they could get a second one off.

dropped 2/15+ for me, i've heard 0/40+ though.

The HP healed by a gnole depends on the moon. The closer it is to full moon, the more a Gnole will heal itself.
