It might also be worth noting that the vendors in San d'Oria do not sell this when San d'Oria is in last place in conquest. Being the lazy bastard I am, I went to San d'Oria to pick some up for GP when mushroom soup was up for GP a few days ago (last week, when San d'Oria was in last on Phoenix) only to find, much to my horror, that they weren't being sold. I scrambled around trying to find ingredients but couldn't find any screaming mushrooms for the life o' me; had to give up on GP for that day...
its just easier to NPC buy them for guild points, 5 for 8k each, 40k vs, 30k for screaming fungus (if its up on the AH), 20k for danceshrooms...etc...

On my server, getting the items to make it isn't really hard, but it's tedious to get singles.
Though, really it's just the danceshrooms and sobbing fungus that pose that problem.

Tell me about it... every time the guild asks for anything mushroom/fungus related, I cringe, because it's almost impossible to find them for sale at the quantities I need. I tried gardening the fungus, but the yields aren't that great. There's another alternative, but that'd require me to have Chocobo digging leveled. I guess the best way around it is to try and stack up on those just in case.
