anyone know how often this item drops? i've fought a few walking trees but i always get some root.
Its pretty rare, but then again, so are Walking Trees...outside of Lufaise Meadows and the ToAU areas.
Rough estimate without Treasure Hunter...probably about 1/20 kills drop a Puffball. Keep in mind that is a very rough estimate. As with anything in this game, you could kill one and get it, or spend all afternoon killing trees and NOT get one. SE is just evil like that.

WOW! I just killed two walking trees in a row and they both dropped a puffball. J-11 in Jungar on Bismark server. Yipeee!

I've planted 40 grain seeds, and ended up with a grand total of 5 Puffballs. Does it make a difference which day or moon phase? What is best conditions for planting and harvesting to get these Puffballs?

No it's true, I also got this from grain seeds and not feeding a crystal. I just forgot what day I planted it on.
I don't know why, but every time I pass a walking tree, I have to kill it. Maybe some post-trauma Twinkling Treant syndrome or somethin'.. :). They're kind of fun to fight. They dish out a lot of damage fast, but unlike other enemies like that, they go down just as easy.
The drop rate of Puffballs on these things is absurd. I killed around 50 of these and only got one. Meanwhile, in that time I had 10 mistletoes drop. Needless to say, I racked in the money pretty good.

You are compounds into you're, not "your".
When correcting peoples contractions you could paranthesis the words being compounded. For example "you are" contracts into the word "you're" not "your", because your is the possesive term.

My favorite grammar issue is when people say "then" when they should say "than".
For example: "I have more money then you."
Drives me up the damn wall and I don't know why.
Than is used for comparison.
Then is used for sequencing events.

This item can be grown with Grain seeds and NO crystal fed. This has worked for me with both Brass and Earthen Pots.

I tried growing it with and with out a dark crystal. Without a dark crystal gave me rock salt, and with a dark crystal it gave me Khazam peppers. I used a Earthen pot and a copper pot. So you must be doing something different then what you printed.
if you read pikko's main thesis on gardening it says it's entirely random and there's no gauranteed crop. so you could do the exact same thing and get different crap every single time.
