Wanna fish Moat carp Uber Quick?
# Oct 24 2008 at 2:52 PM Rating: Decent
Well I found out that acutally Yew Rods fish up Moat Carp alot quicker than any rod I have ever encountered. I mean if you want to Skill Up, this is not the rod you want to use. Although if you are wanting to get Moat Carp reaaaly fast, use Yew Rod, it makes the Moat Carp tired soo much quicker.

People complain because they say it "breaks" but it really doesn't. You have to look at the emote whenever you get a bite. If it says "You have a good feeling" then the rod WILL NOT break. "fairly certain" It WILL NOT break. Anything else, like "Bad feeling" or "terrible feeling", "postively certain not" press the ESC key to ebort the pull up.

Plus if you want to catch fish faster, get the WHOLE fishing gear. Its cheap, really not that expensive, it really helps reel those fish in.

I really just fish for the Moat Carp to sell. Not really for "leveling" persay.

Also, I like fishing in City Areas, like Windurst, Sandy, or Bastok, so you do not have to worry about pulling a Monster.

The bait I use for fishing up Moat Carp is Insect Paste, it is about 30gil a peice at Port Windurst Fishing Guild. You can buy rods also there too for very cheap, instead of buying it at the AH. The store hours are from 3 to 18. I believe it is closed on Ice day.

I hope I helped =D

Fishing for Mithra
# Apr 13 2004 at 4:17 PM Rating: Decent
Fishing becomes especially important for Mithra characters. One of the abilities of being mithra is that you can eat raw fish you catch for benefits. Only mithra can do this, any other race has to use the fish in a culinary dish. This is similar to Galka being able to eat raw meat from sheep, hare, etc. Some of the fish provide unique and very beneficial boosts not found in cooked items either. Things like crayfish and lobsters can be eaten raw for a good def boost for example.

#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 10 2004 at 3:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what is the fishing macro so i can leave my computer on during the night and continue to fish?
RE: fishing macro
# Apr 09 2004 at 3:58 PM Rating: Decent
there is however a faster way to cast the line by using a macro i call fish and goes a little something like this:
/eco fish
/wait 15
/fish
press this macro after each reel in and it will cast in 15 sec.s. later u can lower the /wait 15 to 14, 13, 12 .... depending on lv. of fishing skill of how long you must wait untill next cast.
the /eco fish is useless to a point and will display the word fish on the chat log. only use is to check to see if u pressed the macro or not
/fish will do what it says aslong as the /fish function is possible after the /wait funtion is done. count your hits on the line or fish u get to keep from wasting the fish macro when u don't have bait on the line. hope this helps :)

Actually it does... you still have to hit "enter" whenever you catch something, but it makes recasting a whole lot easier. I was using this before I even came here just made it up:

/echo Mmm.. Fish!!
/wait 11
/fish

(you may have to increase or decrease your wait time depending on skill)

Are there any sort of macros that let you leave your game on, go to sleep, and still be fishing? Are they legal? Where can I get one?

As far as I understood you were able to write them so you dont have to keep casting manualy over and over again you just arnt allowed to go afk... So set it up and read a book just check for whispers...
RE: macros?

Actually my macro is almost the same I use:

/echo Mmm.. Fish!
/wait 13
/fish

You may have to increase the wait time by making the number larger if you are just starting out. You do have to hit enter if you catch something, of course, but you will see this is much easier for recasting rather than clicking "fish" several times each time. Trust me, this makes it easier to fish.

Fishing is actually kinda fun. You can sell what you catch, or use it for cooking. There are many dishes using fish that raise stats considerably. For instance, boiled crayfish raises defense by nearly 11%, boiled crab by 22%. Check out the recipes under "Guild Recipe Lists".

Fishing is used in many quests and can get you some nice items. You can also sell the fish for gil. Other than that, I do not know.

also in sandy u can do a quest using moat carp that will bring u to hero fame(or close to hero) after it is done. you only need to turn in 10000 moat carp to finish the quest ( and i use "only" very lightly). once its all said and done the lu rod becomes yours to show off and fish with.

Good luck fishing and i hope all you fishers get this rod someday.

I haven't tried fishing yet. Are there any benefits to fishing? Any culinary dishes that buff? Can we catch treasure, or do all we reel in fish?
benefits of fishing
# Feb 10 2004 at 4:04 PM Rating: Good
There are many benefits to fishing, it is about the only guild where once you buy high quality equipment it is pure profit from there on out. Not to mention, the higher the level the fish the more it's worth, I read that there are fish out there that cost around 2.5k each, imagine being able to catch those back to back all day long. And yes, you can catch armor such as rings and whatnot, I hear rumors that this is what normally causes your pole to break at lower levels. I've even heard that you can catch gil as well. I don't look at fishing as something I have to level up quickly for a source of income, I just use it for those boring waits for a party in qufim, I can be seeking a party and keeping myself occupied at the same time, rather than just sitting there staring at the wall for 45 minutes while waiting for a party like the average joe does in qufim. I can raise my fishing level a bit while i'm waiting and make a couple thousand gil in the meantime, not to mention it makes boat rides that much more enjoyable, i definately reccommend always having a pole and bait with you everywhere you go, you'll be glad you did when a boring wait comes along.

plz do not fish IN qufim i have been killed fishing in the ocean there once by a sea horror (or something of that race) i fish in jeuno while seeking partys and turned some gil out even in the jeuno AH (sell your fish in one of the other main citys to make more gil). While fishing on the boat ride, fish standing on the steps. this is where monsters wont hit your line since monsters can't come up on the steps. i have seen sea horrors things here also and have seen people eaten alive by them ( not literaly "eaten" but as close as it comes in this game).

good luck fishing :)
