These are actually selling for a lot more than they cost to make... at least on Caitsith.

mercury is ~16k
poison dust is ~4k from a gob npc in jeuno

and these potions are selling for 30-35k

I believe thats because there is no HQ to this potion, so it's a bit more effort to make stacks. Thats my theory, anyway.

No one seems to have asked this, but how much damage or what is the duration of these? I'm thinking of using them to activate a 75% health latent effect on my BLM gear... just wondering, do they do a fixed amount or what? I'd need it to do at least 100 dmg or so. And yes I've thought of equiping - hp gear.. it doesn't do enough 'damage' to put me in yellow hp.

edit : I tesed the next chance I had, posion potions did 60 damage before wearing, venoms did 300. Not sure if this is variable (I'll test with venoms in exp party for latent.)

There's no HQ for this, still gives an output of 1 potion which makes synthing this useless unless you're skilling up on it.

A stack on QC in Jeuno is about 30k. Worthless I think not if you kept Poison Pinchs from 7-12 and you tried to make your own Mercury.

Yes, i was level 12 and synthed Fire Crystal + 1 Gigas Sock 5 times and receieved:

6 Poison Dust
4 Poison Dust +.2 alchemy

I'm just wondering, obviously it can be used on oneself (noting the "noob pranks" mentioned earlier), but can it be used in combat against an opponent? Or is it just useful for later recipes involvoing such things?

i dont think it can be used against an opponent. they can be used on yourself as a DOT to prevent sleep status when fighting certain mobs.

No, because you cannot perform any action when asleep. Use it when you know you will be put to sleep, but make sure you don't have stoneskin up! (Stoneskin absorbs the damage, thus preventing you from waking up)

Actually once I did successfully use it after being put to sleep. Chaining mandy's in a party, i tried one after I'd been put to sleep. (monks are always the last to get wakeup cure *sniff*) I think it was just a fluke though, because every time since nothing has happened when i tried it.

It also has a less practical application than this. If you use it on yourself, monsters cannot put you to sleep, since you wake up the second you take damage. Useful in rare boss battles, where it ironically means the difference between life and death. Go figure.

Couldn't you just as well drink milk or any other Regen liquid? I've got mobs hacking away at my HP, and I go and drink some poison on top? Why haven't they performed an update to make these usable on mobs yet? I'd think this would've been top on their list instead of an expansion pack to fight Moogles and other NPC's. Go figure...
