Need one synthed on Remora
# Aug 31 2007 at 2:34 PM Rating: Decent
Hey guys/girls,
I have the materials and am willing to give someone a few tries. Reply back or /tell in game if you have Leathercraft 100+ and you would like to synth one. My char. is Gerik on the Remora server.
Thanks

I want one of these for my thief, but no way in hell I'm buying it.
what are the odds an 100+3 leathercrafter 60 goldsmither and 60 clothcrafter could HQ it?
odds?

I can make this, and believe me the odds are absolutely horrible. I'm leathercraft 89+1 smithing 61 and cloth 61. On paper, my odds should be 10% (imposible to get tier 2 on this) I allways crafted on darkday new moon-acording on who you asked- this should put me around 15% or so. But my results came out 6/120. 5 #@%$!^in percent!!!! Now I never took statistics, but i think 120 is a big enough sample to get a relatively accurate percentage. These stats infuriated me, way too high % to be a fluke, and way to low to be tier 1. WTF.... It was a total gilsink for me, and i farmed EVERYTHING but the darksteel. I was so excited to get the skill to do this and put so much work into farming everything. Just thinking back on it makes me shudder.
odds?

Well, I did some number crunching to see if I could prove you wrong, but it seems like you're right.

In order to get tier 2 you would need:

Leathercraft: 88 (28 master points)
Goldsmithing: 81 (21 master points)
Clothcraft: 62 (2 master points)

Given that players only have 40 master points to distribute among any craft above level 60, and tier 2 here would require 51 master points, it's impossible. Even if a person uses Moghancement: leathercraft, tanning gloves, tanner's apron, the shaded spectacles and gets clothcraft advanced synthesis support, they would still only get a bonus of maybe seven points which still isn't enough to get to Tier 2.

(Even assuming you could use three crafting belts for a cumulative effect, that would only give you a bonus of ten points which is still not enough to get to tier 2.)

So my conclusion? This item sucks, good luck to anyone trying to get an HQ result on Tier 1.

It looks like their is two recipes for this, so i'll try and give you your odds if the GSing one is the real one.

what are the odds an 100+3 leathercrafter 60 goldsmither and 60 clothcrafter could HQ it?

Leathercraft (57)
Goldsmithing (50)
Clothcraft (31)
Yield: 1
Crystal: Earth
Brass Scales x1
Gold Sheet x1
Lizard Jerkin x1
Mythril Sheet x1
Ram Leather x1
Velvet Cloth x2
You have tier 2 (a 1/3-1/4 HQ rate) on the leather craft part.

Tier 1 on the gold smithing part (it'd be best if you have a +1 to get into 11 levels above it will make the difference)

And Tier one on the clothcraft one.

If you had both synth support on GS and clothcraft ( i don't know if two supports is possible) then it would put you at tier 2 for leather/cloth and tier 1 for GS.

I do not do any of those crafts, but for cooking there is a synth support belt, if there is for GS and clothcraft, get them, and use them for this synth.

It would probably give you a 1/3-1/4 chance of HQ, because you seem to be very high in each craft required.

~I have no idea, i never did this craft~

But, in cooking, my main moneymaking recipe is level 56, and i'm level 102 (with support on i'm 102.)

So that puts me at same level above as you, and i get 3-4 HQ per synth.

Good luck!! Hope my input helped.

EDIT!! Gah, looks like i did not read your question right, i thoughtyou meant you had those crafts.

Sorry about that >.>

Get a clue. Its not gilsellers. Last price check I did it was around 900k for a stack of materials , not counting the least expensive items, to make this. Get it through your heads that crafters are putting it up at this price to /GASP make a profit.

Its expensive for a reason. Because it requires a decent skill in leather and TWO other crafts. When a crafter makes this he or she does it for profit. If there was no profit there would not be any HQs. So before you go ******** about the prices get some info first.
Im so cool

I crafted one of these the other day. Nonthing really new here since i have crafted Byrnie, Sniper's Ring +1, Chasuble +1, Dusk Ledelsons +1, Amemet Mantle +1, Panther Mask +1, a FULL Ogre +1 set [5/5].

Not bad i still use this for my lvl 50 THF atm.

And its very nice for lower lvl rdm's because of the MND, INT and CHR.
And alot of people think that the CHR is a mistake on this set which i think its wonderful. The higher your CHR the more powerful your Enhancing Magic will be. And hopefully bamgfhsj will see this for doubting me while in game.
any good for rdm?

i saw this and was thinking of trading in my old Baron's Saio and replacing it with this, cause it shares the Int and Mnd bonus with a few extra bonuses that are kinda nice for Rdm. if anyone can tell me if this is any good for Rdm, i'd appreciate the input...cause my old saio is gettin kinda...yeah...so i figure i'll prepare myself and grab somethin to last till my AF gear, and have no idea what else to buy...
2.2m Seraph; but is it necessary?
# Jun 02 2006 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
I picked one up recently for 2.2m on Seraph. I guess the recent deflation seems to have hit this hard.

I still wouldn't put this as a required item. The regular Brigandine is pretty darned good, and I wouldn't look down on anyone using the NQ version. But I saved long and hard for this because as a Mithra DRG I think the extra stats are well worth it. With the extra HP plus too, this is taking over as my soloing body armor as well as for partying, and it lasts a good few levels so I think it's worth it for me.

when are you ppl gonna learn. SE wont prohibit the sale because they are the ones selling the gil to the "Gilsellers" who in turn sell it to you.

If Square really wanted to stop the selling of Gil they would have. Why stop something that is getting them money in the end.

that....made absolutely no sense....thank you for making the world just a little bit more paranoid and delusional....
/sigh
# Jun 28 2006 at 11:37 PM Rating: Decent
That could be a possibility, however it might also be the pesky international laws that are getting in the way as well. SE can do whatever they want in the game but they have absolutly no conrol over what people pay for other peoples time (since you don't actually pay for gil but rather for the time it took the people to get the gil for you). SE would like to see all gilsellers shut down.

Simple reason 1 (and a number of SE's buisness partners have mentioned this already) if anyone was gonna sell in game curreny it would be them, not any third party.

Simple reason 2 is that the rmt companies characters wouldn't be getting banned, for using bots, if they were getting the money straight from the company. Why would you waste the time , not to mention money, if you could get the gil in seconds. (I don't think it would make sence to ban someone that is giving you more money for nothing but a few minutes of bandwidth and a char on each server)

seriously ...ppl
RE: /sigh
# May 17 2006 at 12:44 PM Rating: Decent
Umm no, SE would not sell gil considering the Gilsellers can get it fine just the way they are granted they wont try and ban everyone due to the fact they are making money (even they have to pay for the accounts), i dont really care because prices for quite a few things have dropped dramatically to somewhat a reasonable extent, as long as people are still play FFXI there will always be gilsellers just like every other game, get use to it welcome to MMORPG.
Insane Inflation
# Jan 10 2006 at 1:33 PM Rating: Default
on the unicorn server its around 3mill. I feel for those on servers where it is more expensive. Until SE prohibits the selling of Gil online, the problem will never go away.

I just wish more people would play for fun, rather than profit.

Gold sheet is GS 54, so that should be the correct level to plug in for the secondary recipe (lvl 57). And for the level 59 one, to cut expenses somewhat, if you get your smithing up to the mid 50's before you do this, you can desynth backplates at very little cost for the darksteel sheets (or ingots and craft the sheets...). Good luck all.

Pleas help me out /t pandoro if you would do it for me.

EDIT:OMG i was noob back then and didn't understand HQ isn't a thing you get 100% at higher lvl, well i got anyways now, took me a LONG time of saruta camping. XD

Brigandine+1
# Oct 16 2005 at 8:27 PM Rating: Good
I am currently trying to synth one of these babies. The price is up to 2mil on Alexander. A stack of materials for 12 suits is only 700k, so 3 stacks of brigandine to synth is 2.1mil. Basically it means i can synth 1/36 +1s and i can break even. It is calling to me.... :P

Because you use brass scales, gold and mythril sheets. All Goldsmithing products.

Ive skimmed over some posts and people are asking how hard these are to make.. let me just say INSANELY hard to make.
as with any other item, you need to be fairly above the lvl cap for any decent results on a +1. Unfortunately, its not just the main craft (leather) that has to be high enough to +1 the item. So, the lvl cap of 59 leather is quite decieving.. Clothcraft needs to be lvl 34 on this, and smithing is lvl 48 just to be able to make them. So, chances of +1 are very slim..

i am lvl 94+1 leathercraft, 60 clothcraft, and 60 smithing... i have +1'd 1 of these out of 20 or so synths... but at a cost to make of 55k each and sell for 30k each on the regulars, and 2 mil for the +1's, its a nice profit. 570,000 for the regulars all together and 2 mil for the +1's = 1,100,000 spent to make them, 2,570,000g after selling all..or just sell the +1 and npc the others and still make a profit.. but 1/20 is pathetic compared to amemit mantle +1 or something thats easily +1'd after lvl 90.

Um, I dunno about other jobs, but THF typically wears Brigandine from 45 until 57 at the earliest (Scorpion Harness), 59 at the latest (Black Cotehardie). I'd say that's long enough to warrant a +1 version, though I personally did not get it. :P
