Can I get a Malboger ToD for Quetzalcoatl?

Can I get a time of death on the Marlboro NM for Cerberus Server?

I was just killing Stroper's for the malboro vines they drop ( I needed them to craft hi-potions) and ran acros Marbolgers and got the drop. What luck for me. :-)

I was 1/3 on Dodo, 1/3 on Nue, and killed Morbolger at 6:25 PM, Feb. 14. on Siren Server.
I've got to say, Treasure Hunter makes this so much easier, if ya dont have a high enough lvl thf, try to get help from one.

I finally got this drop last night, and I wanted to take a minute to post my experience with this NM. I'm pretty sure I'll get rated down for my comments, but idc if I can help someone out. I tried camping this on and off for a few weeks putting in about 4-8 hours each time I visited the caves. My strategy for finding the ToD was to try to eliminate times when it didn't pop. I met about 15 people that were doing the same thing and none of us were having any luck.

Here are some things that I learned that helped me along the way. This NM is a 22-24hr spawn or is within a hour or so. In my opinion this is a flaw in the game, quest NMs should not pop once per RL day. This creates an unfair advantage for either JP or NA players and most likely eliminates the casual player from obtaining equiptment. They should at least pop every 12hrs, there were over 20 people stopping by the caves to camp this NM during the time I was there.

The NM is said to not be a lottery spawn, however when I brought it down I had just killed the Stromper and my friend Morblonger popped very shortly after perhaps one minute later. This may be a total coincidence, I sort of doubt it since there were two other people there and both were afk, and I scrolled up and nobody had killed Stromper for several hours.

Also, those of you camping Morblonger that plan on going afk. I read that it will aggro to a lvl 75, when it popped, I tested this theory and ran circles around it and pointed and laughed, Morblonger could care less. I wouldn't want to guarantee your saftey since it is said to not always be the same lvl but I most certainly wasn't getting aggro.

I believe this quest item is a 100% drop, I've never read anything to contradic this. After going 1/11 on Nue, that is a 1.5-2hr pop, I'd say I was very happy that my vine dropped right away. If you plan on questing Brown Belt be prepared to spend a great deal of time camping NMs, unless you have a lot more luck than me.

Strategy for success! I read that you can camp Morblonger by going afk for 24hrs, then simply scroll up find when it died, and count the region updates back from the current time. The region updates are every hour, if I'm not mistaken they are every hour on the hour. Once you have this ToD go set up shop in the cave and w8 either 2hrs before or 2hrs after and you will see Morblonger. Another idea for ToD is to just w8 for server maintenance when they reset all of the NM spawn timers.

As for the fight I am a lvl 75 bst so it was completely uneventful, I have about 1,100 hp and I was down to 880ish by the end of the fight and I didn't throw a pet at it. I would have to gauge that a lvl 50 mnk using 2hr might be able to pull it down if the fight went well. If it uses Bad Breath on you as it did me and you are paralyzed at lvl 50 >,< good luck.

Knowing that this NM is so heavily camped and the ToD is supposed to be some sort of secret, I'd say share the ToD with your friends, but if you don't know anyone that is actively trying to attain a belt please help out others and post it. There really isn't any good reason to withhold sharing something that could help someone else get back to playing the game.

One last thought on claiming that one time per day spawn, I've read that it spawns in the Southern portion of the cave, and low and behold it spawned directly in the middle at the bottom of the map for me.

I shared the ToD with the two people camping it in a /tell, but if you are on Fenrir Server the ToD was 12:55am pst on 9/13/06.

1/1 Dodo (0 mins camping... was out when i get there)
1/1 Morbolger (1 hr 30 mins camping, had ToD; cant say on here as LS ppl need it)
1/1 Nue (1 hr or so camping... btw one ONE of the tigers is a PH with repop of 5 mins. Nue is 90-120 or so repop)

I was 60 thf at all times, so idk if that helped (prolly did)

it pisses me off when people who DONT need the belt but just want the easy 3 mil (titan) camp this. Makes life even harder for mnks around 40. I mean we ALREADY have Jujitsu Gi and O.Kote to worry about, and Cross-Counters if your willing to spend time. nM's suckl -_-

I consider myself extremely lucky in doing this quest...

Everyone told me to go after Morbolger first because it would be the hardest to get. I thought to myself it would be near impossible since I don't have days to camp it and find out the ToD. To my utter amazement, when I ran up the stairs to the room where he was supposed to be, there he was, sitting all alone with no other people in sight. I claimed him and got the drop. 1/1

I decided to go after Deadly Dodo next. After about an hour of running around, killing stuff, I had to head back to Jeuno to get ready for static. I had rng subbed and while I was running back, there pops the Dodo on widescan. So I tracked him down and was able to claim him. I had to call on my NPC to finish him off though lol. I didn't have full health/mp to start. I got the drop. 1/1

Thinking that somehow the planets had aligned themselves that I had such awesome luck with the first 2 items with little time spent, I was feeling good heading into camping Nue. Two of my friends helped me camp him since I had more competition here. The first 2 times with friends, no drop. I fought him a couple more times on my own, no drop. A few more times with friends... no drop. (this was all spread out over weeks... I kind of lost my focus...) So I go camp him alone and a 75 nin takes him. I come back the next day and the same nin is still camping him. This time, I got the claim. I also got the drop. I lost count but I think I was like 1/8 on Nue.

Do not get into bahamuth server unless ur a gilBUYER, prices here suck soo much!! Gosh, you guys cry about low prices, well Lets say SH 7.4M Hauby 4M O.kote 3.1M Fuma 2.4M Pin 1.8M Jujitsu Gi 1,5M Brown belt 3.1M

I'm a thf myself,

I was brousing through the AH in jeuno one day, just flicking through, saw the brown belt and say it was 2.500.000 - 3.000.000 (shiva) and was wondering how you get it. I asked a friend and he said it was a quest, I was quite surprised as most quests on FFXI are never usually worth your while.

I looked up and the NMs didn't seem to hard, and being ex drops I didn't think that the NMs would be too crouded.

So, I tele'd to la thiene as 54thf/27rng and saw lumbering lamburt on Wide scan, fled over and killed him.

Tele'd to konschtat and got Rampaging ram in about 20 minutes.

Then I choco'd to sauromongue and Dodo popped in less than 5mins and dropped, I could hardly believe at this point that this quests was worth almost 3mil.

I Vahzl'd to Xarabard, camped Nue in total for 3hours and got the drop on that too.

Then, I left my char afk in the Molbolger spawn for the ToD, came back from work to find it and camped it 21hours later to kill it after 30mins of waiting, I still can't believe in about 5hours work I made 2.700.000gil.

I pitty you whos servers only go for 300-800
My server seems insane to pay that much for a relatively easy quest.

Whelp, after the huge update I decided I would camp me some Morbolger. but after about 6hrs I quit, the Server was reset, a rough guess, of about 2:30 MDT so, I would just like to ask if anyone killed it today before about 2:30, which is when I got there. It would be much appreciated if you could give that too me.

Hola,

Yesterday I hung around Ordelle's cave and found a high level japanese WAR was camping Marbolger. I "talked" with him, and asked that he tell me what time he killed Marbolger, so I could kill it the following day. At 11:59am, Eastern standard time, he informed me he had killed the Malboro NM.

I got up this morning at 9am and while I was AFK, Marbolger popped and aggro'd me. I got back to computer after he had hit me a few times, 2hr'd, and he was dead at 9:51am. I was a 51MNK/WAR and finished the fight with 1 chakra and 400hp left. He should spawn tomorrow (1/22) anywhere between 9:51am eastern time and 6:51 eastern time. Good luck to anyone who gets him because of this!

up to 550k on Fairy. definatly not worth it by the time you can quest it, just get youself a 80k Life Belt at lv 48 and your set till you can get yourself the Black Belt later on.

I just soloed Deadly Dodo completely by accident while farming Tabar Beaks. Some lvl 46 Drg was running away from it. I thought he was pulling it to a pt but then I looked at the name and realized it was an NM. So the Drg loses aggro literally right next to me. I still have my 2HR and panic macro, so I decide to give him a try. I SA and crack away at him. He attacks me... and misses, much to my surprise. He only hits as often as a Tabar Beak, about 1/4 time, but he takes about twice as long to kill. With bloody bolts and SA/Hide I had no problem killing this NM. By the end of the battle I end up with 99% of my hp, but he only drops cockatrice skin and cockatrice meat. Eh, I was farming the meat anyway ^^ He's very solo-able for 56 Thf/Nin with bloody bolts and capped marksmanship.
