Drop
# Jan 27 2008 at 9:10 PM Rating: Decent
I have a story that'll **** me off just thinking about it for a LONG time. I've been leveling Monk for some time, about 2 years. I don't play very often, and often times a whole MONTH goes by without me playing. I suck at farming so I never have much gil, and after TWO YEARS of playing, after restarting when the 360 version came out, I'm only lvl 66 MNK.

Anyways, I've always been shocked at the prices of items, and thats after the whole RMT debocale that made items cost so much. SO thats why I'd always taken the time to try and camp Mee Deggi for O.Kotes.........I'd been ZER0/68 when I tried today, and by some miracle, I'd gotten the claim by happening to notice the PH walking on water, and not moving an inch. My heart's pounding away as I use my Chi Blast macro to claim and then fight him, just to nearly flip out yelling when I see the drop, Impact Knuckles.

I think I'm gonna cry. :P

Anyway, I've just gotta try again. I hear the BCNM wouldn't be much better (low, if not lower drop rate), or I'd try that.

Figured you'd all like to hear the story.

I'm sorry but I don't believe any of this crap about TH not helping w/ this mob.
The argument that TH only helps on the number of drops is rediculous.
How about this as food for thought:
Mobs Possible Droppable Items
-----------------------------
Impact Knuckles (any number lower than /random number generated when spawned)
Okote (/random number generated when spawned(+ a minimum # of course))

TH1 + a certain number to add to /random rolled against items
TH2 + more
TH3 + even more
TH4 + the highest possible amount to add to your roll

This, my people, is why I still take my THF when camping this NM.

What's funny is any THF's arguement that TH almost gaurentee's a drop. I have tested TH, and I can tell you that TH only slightly helps your drops or drop rates. As is what it says it does, no matter what ppl say.

Anyone that says it does more than slightly increase your odds at the drop, is full of it. It's like saying that because War gets Double Attack that it should proc all the time when engaged in battle, it's that ridiculious to say so.

I have found that if you are at the level of the mob or NM(no matter your job, you use), you are more likely to get the drop and get more drops, then any TH. And if you are above the level of the mob or NM, you drop rates and drops are hurt more and more increasingly as you seperate your levels from the mobs or NMs'.

I personally don't buy into the TH method for farming items or camping NM's, I've seen it fail way too many times and had it fail too many times to buy into the ideology that it is the end all farming/camping skill. Especially when I can get just as many drops farming/camping with any other job. And I can get alot more drops when I use any job, at the correct level with the mobs or NMs.

TH= Slightly better drop rates.....

And it doesn't increase the drops and their rates past a minute point, so anyone who says it does, needs to expand their knowledge of farming/camping with other jobs. Cuz it doesn't do an impressive job, and I always choose to go without my THF, because I have got just as good or better drops without it.

Anyways.....
Sorry can't buy into it

I am not going to say that you're wrong in what you are saying and I have no idea if TH helps with NM item drops...personally I have not tested it nor experienced that yet. I will say we have a trio hunting team and when our Ninja is subbing Thief for farming....there is a marked difference in the amount and quality of drops we get versus if he just subs Warrior.

So to say it isn't the end all of farming is just plain incorrect. It really does make that noticeable of difference farming. I honestly can't say whether TH effects NM drops or not...I don't have enough experience with TH & NM camping to say for certain on that. I don't see why it wouldn't help in the case of uping the chances of NM drop unless of course NM's fall under their own set of rules for dropping that TH doesn't effect...such as if a NM drop has a static drop rate perhaps. If you have Thief leveled I don't see what it could hurt to take advantage of the TH ability in the case of the O'Kote drop though

Just my two cents

Background story: I have a lvl 54 mnk and lvl 28 war, thats about it. I had almost given up on mnk even though I enjoy playing it. The reason being: Gear is WAY to expensive.
Alright, heres the deal. I was messing around the action house and I happened to notice the Jujitsu Gi was going at 220K but 2 of them had sold for 50k. I put in 50k and was not able to purchase anything. I had tried up to 100k but still nothing so, no big deal, moving on. After going around for about a half hour, I was curious and tried the Ochiudo's Kote for 50k (going price 800k). Surprisingly enough, I bought it. I was so happy I just had to tell everyone on the LS about my good fortune. Next thing I know, everyone and thier brother is asking me to sell them for the same price for use of thier services in killing NMs to obtain "my own". I already feel bad because maybe someone made a mistake and put it up for auction at the wrong price. But know I have high level characters telling me they are 0/20 on this NM and want to have the Kote's. I haven't even seen this NM yet alone gotten a claim on it. So....what would you do? Keep it? Sell if for the original going price and buy every other peice of gear you want? Or sell it to someone in your LS so they can help you kill NMs?
Morality Question
# Mar 28 2007 at 4:16 PM Rating: Decent
Keep it, and be happy you were so lucky.

On another note..

This item doesn't drop from the NM anymore. The NM drops a Rare/EX version, so the original is good to have, because you can camp it later, then sell the original and wear the R/EX (Ochimusha Kote).

You guys that are saying the drop sucks because you had TH2+1 or whatever should realize that TH does not affect Mee Deggi. Since TH only increases the amount of items obtained from killing something and not the chance of getting a rare drop. Mee Deggi's drop rate is already 100% because he will always drop either O.kote or Impact knuckles so TH is pointless.

Well that may be true for Mee Deggi because his drop is 100% but if another rare drop is 50% then wouldnt TH bump that up some?

kinda, im saing if impact knuckles are 70% but are common, and o kotes are 30% which is rare, maybe TH raises the rare drop to say... 35% maybe, noone knows for sure

depends,
A) if some nm like mee deggi drops 2 different items then treasure hunter wouldnt work.

B) if an nm like LL drops bounding boots only then TH would help it

is that what you are asking?

its obvious that the only way to fix the gil buying/selling item is to make all those high priced mob droped gear rare ex with a very small chance of droping the normal one. if it were that obvious why isnt SE doing it? im sure they have gotten plenty of emails about it, and they know it would fix probably a good chunk of the gill sellers source of gil. i think se is more concerned with catching gil sellers/buyers rather than eliminating the reasons there is such a thing in the first place. meanwhile, rare ex drops from NMs hardly ever drop, begging the question why the hell are they rare/ex to begin with.

Mee deggi is extremely easy to claim, i get him with 10+ rmt in room whenever i camp because he has an obvious pattern. If you guys dont know it then you dont deserve to complain about this pathetic "rmt so bad im gonna buy gil" stuff. i am 2/9 on it since ive only just started camping it, maybe one day when i have enough gil for kraken club and mandau ill post how to camp it hahaha.
Got spawn, No RMT's
# Nov 30 2006 at 10:41 AM Rating: Decent
HAHAHA! After watching our local RMT steal him for two days, (I finally got the spawn! So I wake up on my thrird day and log in and what do I see to my amazement? All threee of the RMT campers are GONE! So it's just me and a local RDM camping him, figure my odds are a little better, the ******* takes two hours to spawn...and about 4 more people show up to camp him. So what do I do? I do exactly what Indians (RMT *cough*) had been doing killing mobs in one spot and waiting for spawn. Well it worked and I got my Kote on first kill. Just a hint guys Indians prefers to stand in southwest corner and kills the drummers and interrigators that spawn there (You know the little mini-pond). Happy hunting!

Umm you should know that the gil you buy go directly back to the gilsellers, when you buy that nice expensive item for whatever amount of gil, you just give it strait back to them.. offcourse they sell the same gil back to you.
Maybe you ment to say: there are no way of stoping them so just go with it and buy gil.
but in my head the gilbuyers that supports the gilsellers is just as bad

the reason people dont work for money -> buy the gil
is cause gil buying is still wrong :\ people wanna honestly earn their items by playing the game, not by paying someone else to buy it for them

as for the person asking where to buy gil safely?

there isnt anywhere, don't do it, period.

I hate gilsellers farm some silkthread or something. they drop from the catepillars in Sarabuta (around windurst). If that's too hard, try farming everything that drops from every mob in that area. bastok and sandy have items you can farm as well.

buying gil may not seem like it effects us, but it effects EVERYONE around you. It leads to inflation in the auction house, it leads to griefing in the auction house (items that would normally be plenty of are suddenly rare and barren), and Notorious monsters are continually camped by ******* RMT so they can make a quick buck. FFXI is a MMORPG. If I could, I would go around and personally ban those RMT that camp NMs Or better yet.... I'd make the drops that those idiots camp rare/ex or just ex. If GMs or Squaresoft was smart they'd actually keep a closer eye on continuous RMT. Everyone knows what monsters they camp and it's not hard to see if they are RMT. There are still TONS of RMT in the game, I think Squaresoft missed alot. You may be happy with the 11k accounts banned and suspended, but the AH is not retardedly messed up and missing alot of items. There would have been a better way to deal with all of this. RMT and Gilbuyers had all the badass weapons and items and when they were banned all the items disapeared with them. If you buy gil, your obviously griefing me because sooner or later your going to get caught and when you do, those items that you didn't work for at all are going to disapear as well. I hate you for wanting to buy gil or even asking about it. you should *delete* your post.

Sincerely, what do you expect? You post on a website an inquiry about purchasing gil. Someone becomes upset and posts his opinion. Don't get all upset because you said something dumb on a public website and someone reacted to something you had said. At least you've learned that purchasing gil isn't the way to go.

I've been camping this NM religously as of late, and have to come to the conclusion that this drop is complete ****. Yesterday I got a claim on this with a friend, (I was 61SAM/WAR, and he was 50THF/NIN). He brought along his Mandy 2, 3, and 4 bud leafs. So once I get the claim a 75THF asked if I wanted her/him to join my party because she had the TH+1 knife, so I said why not. Then I checked the moon phase, 98%, did it drop? No. 0/6 on him now ><;
I really want the kote, but I'm too poor to buy them, I've farmed for what seems like eternity and am just sick of it. But luckily GM's finally banned all the Gilsellers from Castle O., so it makes things a little easier.

we camped this nm for half a day... i got lucky and got claimed on mee deggi. Killed it and got drop on first try while the party was at the other side of area camping Qu. A deals a deal and so the party casted lot on kote... and so i happen to have the ********* luck on the world and lost on lot for kote... i ranned to the other nm Qu and scanned the area for about 30 mins and what do u know, the thing POPPED BEHIND ME while the other competitors were just running around... and so i got lucky again on drop... maybe its prolly this item that i carry helps a bit on droprates... after long hours of camping these NMs i started to wonder why WENCENT and JACKONE dont move at all!? I didnt know these characters were programmed to cheat? I didnt even know u can cheat on this online game.. but anyhow, after i found out about these two of WENCENT and JACKONE was computer programmed... the party just pretty much fell apart and quitted camping... ***** that, i gave up as well after watching how these programmed characters trigger FLEE and PROVOKE at the precise moment and get the claim just ruined my appetite for camping these NMs... that just makes it [IMPOSSIBLE TO GAUGE] to get claims on these NMs unless u have the ********* luck in the world of VANA DEIL like me and have the NM's pop right behind u and get the claim... but other than that ur screwed wasting ur time camping these NM's... if anyone happens to read this post, be aware for WENCENT and JACKONE in the area. If anyone shall see these two, i suggest go and camp and waste you and your partys time on other NMs that actually have live competitors... GOOD LUCK =P

"JACKONE" is actually Jackeon...assuming you are refering to the characters on the Hades server.

Edit:

We went and camped this guy last night. Jackeon was in the room. After several hours, it was time for me to head to bed, but before doing so, I had to go have a little fun with Jackeon. We went up to him and did a series of "/angry motion" to him. The reaction we got from him was a bit humorous. ...but here's the kicker. Mee Deggi spawned right where we had previously stood for several hours while we did this. GRRRRR....

But anyway, as soon as it spawned, Jackeon immediately used Flee and claimed the mob. I did a few /cheers to Mee Deggi, then called it a night.
