You can clear your mind of Artifact Quests in the Lower Jeuno meagic store. There is a guy there that will wipe your quest log, but you have to get rid of EVERY artifcat piece(or upgrade it to +1). You can always call a GM if you dropped it by accident.

AF1 > Holy Maul

When you consider how often the light damage procs (not much), I'd say the real difference is +1MND versus +10MP. If you have tons of mog space, that's one thing. Plus, a WHM should really not be meleeing much at all, unless farming, and even then there's easier ways to farm (coough-level THF-cough). But if you don't have room for extravagances of minimal added value, I'd take AF1 over Holy Maul, +1 or not.

Well I have a Holy Maul + 1, The Blessed Hammer is slower then it and gives less MND, and does not deal light damage. So the only thing I see good about this is the MP + 10.

Just got this (at level 40.9 now), and obviously it will be my weapon of choice when soloing or otherwise swinging.

My only gripe is that I wish it were a BIGGER improvement over my Holy Maul, a level 38 weapon that anyone can pick up rather cheaply at AH Jeuno (on my server). The Blessed Hammer IS better ... it's just not that MUCH better.

Oh well, that's my only ***** :P The price is right, that is for sure ^^

Hello! This Maul i find comes in use often, whether im helping a friend get an item, or plvling. It has good dmg and nice to show the mobs who is boss! Dont be afraid to go into battle sometimes and smack around the mob a bit.

LOL.. im soloing low end DCs at lvl 40 w/out this weap. Sure there is a lil downtime involved. I usually have to regen 200 mana, but getting 40-50 xp a kill without having to look for a PT.. is priceless.

Dont let convention fool you.. There is a rough spot for soloists at lvl 15- 20 or so, but from what ive been seeing, the higher I go, the better my solo options are.

I don't see anything else at this level, or 10 more levels for that matter that has better all around stat boosts than this for WHM. +10 MP is more than any staff til 50 and the +2 MND is a nice bonus. I used a Solid Wand up until this, but I find the +10 MP more valuable than the 3 less MND it has compared to the Solid Wand since I have MND all over the place from my other equipment and WHM's have no use for INT. How does this not benefit a party? Not to mention this thing is absolutely free if you can get some help to kill the mob. This thing will be by my side until the elemental staves.
Any Good?

I have used this hammer for solo fighting in combination with my Holy Breastplate. Other than that, I haven't touched it. I also don't use "typical wands" being the ones that add only +INT and +MND. I have found that the best WHM weapon till elemental staves is the Eremite's Wand. it has +MND, +INT, +MP, and spell interruption rate down 25%. I don't get hit often, but when I do, it's usually during an emergency when we're in trouble. The last thing that I need is to have my spell interrupted.

1. its a hammer not a wand, staff, club, or pole all good hammers are whm only.
2. it gives a resonable boost to both mp and mnd
3. a good weapon to use in farming
4. you can use a shield
5. how is mnd and int useless when it helps you spells stick do more dmg and heal more health and make your buffs last longer
6. what does a smns stats have to do with this when its a whm only weapon

This is one of the (relatively few) AF1 that are any good; I used this until my Dark Staff came online at 51. I think we can agree that melee damage is unimportant for a WHM. MND, surprisingly to some people apparently, is also pretty unimportant. You generally have more than you need anyway. The only important and common stat for a WHM is +MP, and this club has a respectable +10. Other important stuff is rarer, like +hMP(healing MP), +cure potency, and -enmity. Someone mentioned using a shield, which is nice enough, but clearly you'd rather be using dual elemental staves (Light and Dark) once you hit 51.

I tend to agree that it's a decent weapon, for parties or for farming. Granted, there could be better items suited for specific types of parties, but this is a nice combination of the important stats of both wands and staves.

When looking at mages' weaponry, there are 2 categories: club and staff. In each category there are 2 main types of weapons: one for dealing damage, and one for increasing base stats. For clubs, the hammers do the melee damage while the wands add INT and MND. On the staves side of things, it's poles for damage, and staves for added HP and MP.

To a WHM, the only importance of wands is the added MND attributes, as MND increases healing HP recovered and decreases status effects and elemental damage taken from spells. The only importance of staves is the added MP, which allows more spells to be cast. For soloing/farming purposes, a WHM can not kill mobs with magic alone, and has to rely heavily (if not solely) on melee, so hammers and poles fit the bill there.

The Blessed Hammer adds the important attributes of both wand and staff (while roughly 1/2 of each of the highest weapon for both attributes), while still maintaining the damage-dealing capabilites of a Hammer. Also, as previously mentioned, this being a one-handed weapon allows you to equip a shield with further stat bonuses.

No wand alternative can give you additional mp, and no staff can give your MND a boost.

Additionally, for straight damage-dealing power while soloing, you could always dual-wield this with a Holy Maul +1 (my personal favourite weapon for lvl ~40, being tarutaru :P) and out-hit even the mighty Oak Pole +1 54 to 38 DMG, with an additional +5 MND, 10 MP, +4 dark resist, and additional Light damage effect.

Wands give +mnd and +int that is better to use until lvl 51 your pt will like it to.
This is why.

You'd use this for a couple reasons. The MP and MND bonuses on it are nice, the damage is reasonable for a one-handed weapon, and this brings us to the last obvious reason you would use this: it permits the use of a shield. Throw in a shield with some other + stats (holy shield comes to mind) and you have a rather flavorful and effective weapon/sub weapon combo for a WHM.
Why

Other than the MP and MND bonus, why would you use this. The delay is too big for such little damage. I am using the oak pole which has no modifiers but its dmg is 37 and delay is 402. When i solo (farm) I am doing 100+ dmg on creatures. When I am fighting stuff that isn't so easy for me, I do like 30-60. This staff is dmg 27 and that just stinks.

Most WHM, aside from solo, do not care about the damage it wields. Stats will benefit a WHM more at this level.

Dont forget the UD will only spawn when its night!
When the only tool you have is a Blessed Hammer...

I've wondered this but I haven't really tested it. I guess I'm just wondering what others think.

Chestnut Wand has +4 INT / +4 MND but hits like a wet noodle. Blessed Hammer has no INT bonus and is +2 instead of +4 on MND, but it gives +10 MP, hits much harder, and is just as fast to wield if you bring up Haste on yourself. This is great for soloing, but in a party you usually don't play with this.

So. Should a WHM bring out the Chestnut when in a party since engaging the mob is not really an issue, or are the INT and MND bumps not really an issue and da hammah is ok to leave strapped to the waist?

This how it went down.
Yes, this is the WHM AF1. It is RARE-EX.

The guy you gotta fight is an undead elvann in the shadow family. This guy does have alot of HP so go prepaired. I had help with this guy as I am WHM. I had a 50 WHM, myself at 40WHM, another 40WHM who was also doing it, a 50 DRG, 41 DRG and a 30BLM. To say the least, it took a while but was no trouble. The WHMs could EASILY cast Cure 2/3s and not get this guys attention while the BLM nuked it. The DRG50 kept this guys attention with Penta Thrust. It took 2-3 minutes to kill each time but is not all that hard with the right help.
This is WHM AF 1

I don't know the intracacies of the quest, but I'll share what I do know.
It's rare but not exclusive I don't think. You get the quest in San D'oria I believe, and go with your party into the Valkurm Dunes. You go to the secret beach through a tunnel to the northwest, and there should be a monument on your left. You touch the monument, and a mob appears. You kill him, get the drop, and take it back to SanDo for the hammer.
I did it with 18 lv 40-49s and it took a good 3 minutes to kill the guy, so go prepared. The guy looks like a dead Elf with black skin and a greatsword, so its pretty cool to see.

Close.

In the secret beach with the monument (which is the song runes required to get the Bard job) there is a ??? spot by the waves. The WHM has to activate it to get the undead to summon.

and it, like -all- AF equipment, is rare/ex.
