guys im making this at 29 to make some money and believe me, its capped at 29 not less not more.
This item should be called insect paste
It's actually "a ball of insect paste," but it's shortened form (how it appears in your inventory and at the Auction House) is "Insect Ball."

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to call this item Insect Paste instead of Insect Ball according to allakhazam??
even if it is called "ball of insect paste" in the detailed description, in the inventory listing it is called "insect ball".

Can u guys tell me where I can find the lvl caps for fishing? I'm only skill lvl 5 and was wandering what I should fish for after MC lvl cap.

under game guilds, theres a fishing thing that tells the caps for each fish use it. its very usefull however i can give u my advice in fishing
1-3 port windy/selbina/mhaura - little wormies - bamboo
4-10 windy woods/walls/waters/north and port sandy/ronfaure areas (area H10 in woods windy is where i get moat carp and its close to the AH) - insect balls (or little wormies at lower lv.s)-use bamboo untill u can buy the mith or comp rod.(i used the mith rod just b/c u can get more moat carp with it)
*other areas besides the ones listed at this lv. will suck down your bait and rods fast with less gil turn out however there may be other places im not the best fisher in the world, no where near the best
**i would say buy one of the two rods that wont break in windy woods be4 the gear in order to save gil in the long run
10-19 east ronfaure - fly lure - mith or comp. rod
*here you are looking for the cheval salmon, it dosen't sell as good as the moat carp but the main point is to get the skill to move on if u don'thave one of the 2 rods listed here and all the fishing gear stick with moat carp untill you do
**like i said be4 there may be other places to get skill points at but im only lv. 13ish in fishing so i would not really know for sure

/ghelsha outpostjugner forest/la theine plateau/ marshlands/zehrun mines(almost anyplace that has giant catfish with out as many lower lv. fish lke cray fish or copper frog) - frog lure - comp. rod (mith rod will break to fast in most areas at this point)
*from here your on your own i hope this has helped any fishers get to a higher lv.
**don't fish a fish up to its cap fish it about 3 lv.s until its cap to gain lv.s faster
****if u have a lot of x-tra gil when u start fishing (50k) i would start off buying all the gear and the mith rod and go right into fishing up moat carp // if u have lots more gil to start with and about 20 weeks to spend fishing (at about 4 hr.'s a day / 100k gil)go right to the boat and just ride the boat and fish all day from here. you can make lv. 100 by staying on the boat but it costs a lot of gil to do since the sea monsters will eat your rods and bait and leave you high and dry
have fun fishing and don't forget about the lu rod

Lvl 29 is really wrong. I starting tring this at lvl 28 and no skill ups what so ever. I belive this cooking skill would be more like lvl 22 or 23 maybe, this obvisouly capped at lvl 28. Try this recipe at lvl 22 and you should be good.

It's confirmed that the level CAP is 29. It may not seem like you get much level when you get close to the cap mark, you'll break a lot of crystals when you are near you cap mark, making it seem like you're not gaining level. But at some point after many breaks and non leveled synths, you'll get a 0.1 at some point.
Also you can start to synth this around level 20, but its safer around 23-4 less breaks.
I got to 29 making these, and kept trying for the next 2 stacks without skillup. So it is right that 29 is the cap.

LOL if a fish is lvl 11 it means you cant lvl fishing off of it but you can still catch it.

moat carp cap IS 11, there are also gold carp that bite insect paste, and they give gains much much higher, but are harder to catch as well.

That is totally wrong!!!! I have level 18 fishing skill and all I fish is carp!! Granted at the lower levels I also caught Cray fish and Carp with little worms but now i just use Insect Paste and all i catch is moat carp in the rivers, and all my experence to level 18 has been carp. Capped at level 11 is a rumor you have never proven yourself. Yes its slower leveling but you will gain skill.If you haven't done it then you shouldn't comment on it. :)

no its not totally wrong. with insect paste you also catch gold carp, tri colored carp, dark bass etc . . . you dont gain anymore lvls after 11 from moat carp EVEN IF YOU CATCH THEM. you gained lvls off of gold, tri, etc depending on where you are fishing. the other fish are capped higher which is why EVEN IF YOU DONT REEL THEM IN you still lvl.

it should be yield 12. each time you get 12 balls of insect paste if successful. yield 1 items does not have a "yield 1" description, so it's a typo on this page.

where it says yield 1, is that those items only make 1 bal of paste coz everytime i see someone synth it, it makes 12, do u do that just by increaseing al the ingredients to 12 of eachÇ

I'm sure you need more level than the beginning to start making this Bait. I tried it a long itme ago (Oct.29) and I haven't been able to a make it. It said I'm don't have enough skill to synth it.

From what I've heard, this is the best bait for fishing up Moat Carp. I watched a Japanese guy make these and fish for a LONG time at Windhurst Woods. He told me his fishing skill is 58.

Moat carp is capped at 11 point there is no way someone got to 58 by fishing MC. :(

I do doubt that they fished only carps to get to 58. However.. Almost every place you find moat carps you find Gold Carps as well. They can get skill into the 58 range.

I'm not sure how high you can go with moat carps, every where that I have read says 11, however I've been fishing in Windurst Walls and I'm using a composite rod with insect balls as bait, the only fish I've ever caught was moat carp or "fish too small to catch with this rod", yet my skill is now at 11.4... either there's something else there I'm not catching that's raising my skill, or moat carps go beyond 11... Its really slow gains though.

I have 50 skill in fishing. Moat carp do cap off at 11, but if your moat carping you will still run into tricolored(27 cap) and gold carp(56 cap). So most likely you will skill up off them. If you want to test if moat carp are capped off at 11, goto rabao. Rabao has 2 fish, moat carp and sandfish.
