I dont know why but this seems to be a rarer drop on goblin thugs lvl 1-10 cause i ve kill many of them and still no drop.

Before this droped i thought that was the goblin's skin......

bought 7 masks lost 6 of them made 2 loops of glass fiber level 61 alchemy on lightingday what the hell...

i HIGHLY recomend de-synthing theese to make fibers for the artafical lense faze.

why only for that you ask?

-you are above the cap by about 9 lvls.
-you are above the cap agian...and u have a higher HQ rate compared to brake rate if u lvl off this
-iff you synth on lightning day you can get the fibers cheeper then just buying strate up.


Now im not shure for later synting this but i just got done with artaficial lense and i saved ALOT more gil de-synthing gobbie masks then buying the fibers

Goblin Leadman and Goblin Ragman drops this also in Oldton Movolopolis.

When desynthing you always have a chance of a) success (as long as you have the skill unlocked) and b) a chance of an HQ result (no matter how low you are below the skill cap). While being an stupid idiot thinking I could desynth my Poison dagger back to a dagger to convert it to a different type (I forgot what type I wanted) I accendentally synthed it into an ingot. At the time I only had lvl 1 smithing... I thought I was going to use alchemy to desynth so I didn't even consider the ramifications of it.

Needless to say. I used this (The goby mask to glass fiber) to go from 11 to 21. You have to de-synth on the right day, and with synth support, and I would recommend the correct mog house enhancement. I still use this to this day to make quick gil. Since Prism powders are now 10k a stack, I can easily make 1 stack for about 2k gil and sell the prism powders for their old price of 6k... which ppl ussually buy for 10k in less then 10 mins anyways:).

While leveling I had about a 20% chance of a 4x HQ result and about a 10% 8x (I rarely got 6x). Now that I am lvl 70 alchemy I get about 8x HQ 80% of the time, with a random spattering of 6x and 4x... I get the normal synt less then 10% of the time. Please note I am not considering failures in that (I fail about 20% of the time with less then 10% mask loss). So, all and all, I make a quick killing on these. Fire crystal 400 gil, Light cyrstal 400 gil. Need two of each... 1600 gil. And then a mask runs about 500 gil on a good day:).

Please be kind and stop inflation of low level items. My goal is to see this item brought back down to 6k on Carbuncle, and to keep the masks at 500 to 1k... And well, I can't do it alone:)... but I sure can make ppl mad trying:)

Anyways, back to the point at hand. You can get HQ results on any de-synth. You can even get success on any desynth that you have a point of skill in (but I wouldn't recommend trying unless you are close). It's just your chance of success greatly increases the more you get over the skill cap level.

omg ive been fighting goblins all day and not one has dropped this. Whats the drop rate on this thing because i swear ive at least fought 50 gobs and not found a single mask helm or armor.

It's really not that hard to get the leather out of these. Even if you have a zero for every craft skill. I cut these constantly for leathercraft and lower level clothcraft.

I dont think you can ever master this synthesis as it always has a high chance of failure, chances are your going to burn a whole lot more wind crystals than you want to if your looking to make a stack this way.
I've gotten to the point that I just sell the mask for 300-400 gil and be done with it.

If you combine a goblin mask with a wind crystal you'll get a piece of sheep leather. This is tannery skill and supposedly zero (0) level, but it wouldn't let me do it until I had a few tenths of a point.

There's another recipe for this, I think. I mistakenly tried to use a lightening crystal on it and it said that my skill was way too low.
