I bought this sword at lvl 57 pld and have been tanking on it since. Now a 66 pld I decided to sell this thing for an espadon. I didn't really see a difference in my tanking while I owned it. Bought it for 250k selling it for 350k :). Decent chunk of change. It's not a bad sword to use for those lvls but once you hit 66 it's time to trade up. Got my maat fight comin up soon and I need more DD gear for pld. Not a bad sword, try it out. And there is no hidden Def - stat. [link=null][/link]

I have seen alot of people stating that this sword isnt worth the stat, attack acc and dmg down effects it gives in trade for Vit+ and hidden attributes.
It is my opinion that this to be truth. dmg holds hate. The more hate you have the dmg you take so you can cast cure and take more hate.
Personaly i would go with the Wise Wizards Anelace or the TME+1,2. since you get more dmg and better acc. on a mob with it.
Dont get me wrong, the Gutt sword is a nice peace of weaponry. However i think that it isnt worth the gil asked for it. Farm it if you would like this piece added to your collection.

in exp pt wise~ its not much different~ But for things like bcnm(airship battle) or lv60 cap boss fight its great in my opinion

So...everyone thinks the gluttony sword is teh 1337? Honestly, it's not, when brought into consideration that 2 points in VIT equals 1 point of defense...it's just not that much...uh oh, watch out! 3.5 defense points!!!! This sword is slower than almost any sword I've come across..and if you're not using a LifeBelt since VIT is soooo precious well then, I bet you have fun just swinging at air with this over priced burden. If you want to keep and hold hate, get a sword that deals more damage over all and doesn't sap your other stats. I use a T.M.E. +2 and if I ever feel like getting one, I'll go kill the NM. Honestly, if you feel the sword is that pivotal to your role as a PLD, then go kill the NM. And if people call you a n00b for not using a Gluttony, I would say respond, but it's not worth the effort.

You sir, are an idiot. VIT does so much more than add defense. Go read some FAQs on the damage formula and how mob damage is calculated.

Well i did paladin to avoid the high costs of melee gear (emp pin, leap boots, SH). but this lil sucker caught me. 1mill when i bought on seraph an is 600k now >.<;;. took about about a week of mining. IMO its OK but just OK. the VIT+ adds on noicely to current VIT and defesne but its overrated for even 600k. i'm sure no1 will BS if u dont have, and 71 u can get a betta sword for like 15k.

You spawn the NMs by trading a "Flint Stone" to a "Tallow Candle" .. There are 7 you need to light total spread through out The Eldieme Necropolis. This particular NM is reached by going through the (G-7) Entrance of Battalia Downs.
You can do all 7 using the same Flint stone its not lost in the trade. and its said there is a one hour cool down before you can trade to the candle to spawn them again.
I don't know if this info is up.. didn't feel like siftin through all the server price qoutes.. but here it is in all its glory for other pld intereseted in gettin it and not knowing where to look for the info on it.

I saved up for a while for this bad boy, and let me just say.. the VIT+7 is well worth it! I still use it, at 66PLD in PT's! My main focus for Paladin hasn't been doing damage, as that's not the job description :P It's been 100% focused on 2 primary responsibilities.. Getting and KEEPING hate and being able to take a pounding! LOL. I highly recommend this sword, as I haven't died all that much, fortunately, since obtaining this weapon 9 Levels ago! I intend to keep on using it until I hit level 71, and then upgrade! (Note: This is my weapon of choice for xp PT's, I use different gear when soloing than in my profile). Yes, it IS expensive, but it's so worth it, if you have only 1 big purchase until level 70+, I'd recommend this sword.

I'm a Lv61 PLD and honestly this sword is not as great as everyone claims it is. Honest to god the VIT is very nice, but considering w/ a nice amount of T.tacos and any other sword you can tank just as well, if the sword is above 600k on your server, dont even bother wastin your valuable time getting it unless you got loads of gil and 600k aint gonna kill your wallet. I know a lot of you are going to ready this and say stuff like "OMG How can he trash this wonderful sword?!" or "This guys a moron and shudn't get party invites." Well 1, like I said, it is not all that great, and 2, considering I've tanked w/ and w/o the sword and saw no drop or gain in my tanking, I have to say I know what I'm talking about. Let me know some of your results in your own tests on tanking involvin this sword. Peace.

I agree; this sword is quite overrated for the price it fetches. The Gluttony sword is a one-trick pony, nice for PLDs in experience parties but absolutely terrible for any sort of non-experience-related combat except maybe for certain situations where kiting with an earth staff somehow isn't the better choice.
Frankly, I was underwhelmed by the change this sword had in my tanking. It has the highest delay of any one-handed sword, it drains stats, and the money you spend on it could otherwise go to getting you some pretty nice +VIT/+def food for many, many levels' worth of exping. From a subjective analysis, I really didn't notice much difference in my damage-taking between it and my trusty TME +1. I'm keeping the Gluttony sword because I'm certain the +7 VIT is worth it in exp situations, but I don't think I'll have this sword for very long past level 66.
Those of you who have or are about to get a Gluttony sword, it's hardly a perfect replacement for a TME +1; you'll find, as I did, that you'll be switching back to your TME +1 when not in an experience party. Hang onto it!

I am only 34 pld but i recently checked price on Jeuno and it was like 300k, now seeing the horror stories of 15mil like on fairy, im not sure but should i buy this sword early incase it suddenly jumps in price?

Damn price is rising in Odin server, youst to be 500k flat, not its 700-900k sheez! I gotta get gil for it quick before it goes up even more, can anyone suggest any way to make some good gil. Im a 49pld by da way.
Would it be possible to keep Tactician Magician's Espadon and use the Memento Muffler and get similar result to the Gluttony Sword? Memento Muffler is dirty cheap and even TME+1 is affordable.

each has its purpose,
so the staff is great, you cant beat a straight out -dmg%.
but its hard to do 'spirits within' with a staff.

Well that depends. The 7 VIT follows the relation between your total VIT vs the mobs STR. At higher lvls (and you already know this) VIT is far more important than DEF on exp parties. EStaves are great on certain situations if you feel you're taking too much damage. But even 20% isn't that great considering your lost hate tool "Shield Bash" and especially now with the newly revamp boost on shield (besides the fact that you're getting interrupted) and having PLD's AF boots +10 Shield skill, you're practically taking 20% off damage anyway. But again like the poster before you said, "To each his own".

On Titan, Hairpins are almost constantly camped by Gilsellers. I checked the Jueno AH and the same person sold 6 out of 10 hairpins in a period of 2 days. Our LS tried the 7 skulls didn't get any decent drops. Hairpins, sell for I think about 1.4 mil, leeping boots about the same. I have seen the gluttony swords going for like 450K

This sword is up to 700k on bismarck,I really do want it but i dont think I'll be spending that much on a sword.I have the gil but I just can't justify spending that much.I think I'll hang onto my tactician Magician Espadon +1 for little bit longer.

I really wish I could pay 300k for this sword. It'd be a dream. Really it would. I could have saved myself 450k. Thats when I bought it. About 2 weeks ago. It's now rising above 1mil.

I'm a 58 PLD on Ramuh server, and I bought mine for about 450k. Its a good sword, and in my eyes its much better than Earth Staff. Added DEF due to the VIT boost, parrying capability, and the added def and blocking abilities of the shield.
I have returned...
you can also parry with a staff.

i was outside Boyahda Tree waiting for my party. I saw a goobbue there and attacked it. i was hitting for normal hits and then i hit and it did an additional effect of Ice Damage. I did not have Enblizzard or anything like it. I swear to god. I saw the addition effect and was like O.O i asked my other pld friend with the gluttony and he never seen the additional effect. but somehow i got an additional affect of Ice Damage and i did not have any thing like enblizzard cast upon me.

I had put off getting a Gluttony Sword for quite some time, but once I started heading to Onzozo and the upper floor of Boyahada Tree I was getting my butt royally kicked (100+ damage on average per hit, including Defender and Boiled Crab). I had been using my TM Espadon up to lvl 60 and then switched over to the Bastard Sword - which not only looking awesome has the best sword name in the game :~D
So I bit the bullet today and plunked down 150k (which was 30k over the regular price on Bahamaut, I bought the last one on the AH) for my new Gluttony Sword. Personally, I think it looks like ass compared to my old Bastard Sword, but it works wonders in exp parties.
Oh, and one last note. Just to clear things up.

HNM Tanking: Earth Staff. This is the only instance when you should be using an Earth Staff while you're tanking unless you're in a skillup party.

I don't think you guys realize how to properly use it. What you do is save up 300% on your sword, unload a Spirit's Within on the mob. This should be around chain 3 or 4, depending on your accuracy, then switch to Dark staff to heal between battles. Earth staff to save the white mages MP, and then if you get in the read, switch to light staff and cure 4, macro back to earth, then if there is light SC on chain 5, macro to water staff and MB with holy... Or if no light SC, macro to water and holy on chain 5 anyway. Then after that macro to dark staff and heal full MP.
Staves sound like so much fun...can't wait! ^^

i have tested my banish spells with the water staff and light staff and have found that my banish spells do more damage with light staff equipped.
Garuda price of this sword: 500-700k
Earth staff use: HNM
Gluttony/shield use: Experience etc...
Just want to toss in that HNM are hitting for huge numbers, even when you are fully equipped... the damage reduction is very, very, very nice...
Also... The elemental staves have a hidden effect that add 10% to that elements damage...
Just wanted to throw that in^^ any paladins going to Lab. Of Onzozo, if you have a cheap dark or sam, or a dragoon... get an earth staff.. odds are you will be tanking Ose, and he hits hard! o.o;; It helps!
EDIT: No offense to those who can't afford Haubergeon!
