you guys and your 2 mil... you got it easy.. i Bought mine for 1.8 mil back in September of 05... since xmas its gone up to 6 MIL on Fairy. i feel like selling it now... *wanders off to AH*
I sold my LL Boots about a month or 2 ago to get this thing... sold my LL boots for about 1.9 mil, bought this earring for 1.2 mil... it's now @ almost 3 mil on Siren
even this thing is 1.2 mil now on Lakshmi. What a bunch of ***-clowns, raising prices like that. Hauberk was 7 mil not long ago. Berserker's axe is 4.5 mil.
P.S. Drk, @57 I SERIOUSLY doubt you're heavily outdamaging a War/Nin with good equipment unless they're using lvl 30 crap. For one thing, you just are NOT going to win in DOT at that lvl. For another thing, try as you might, Scyth weaponskills and GS weaponskills just are NOT as high in dmg potential as rampage is, which can be spammed at 100 TP for the same dmg at 300 tp. They're also going to be more accurate than you by nature, with aggressor and all, and especially with dual viking axes. Until guillotine, I don't believe for a second your doing more than that. And guillotine isn't at 57, it's at 60. Try parsing it, you may hit for 120 with a scyth, but guess what? Those 2 40 or 50 dmg hits hit a lot...and he swings before you swing your scyth again. Not going to happen.
I'm a DRK as well. And I KNOW until 60 I'm taking back seat and even after I'm not going to win in DOT against a War/Nin or Mnk, and a Sam/Thf will STILL out-DOT and out-TP me after 66 once Tachi: Gekko comes into the picture. They'll spam 2 before you can use 1 and it usually goes for 700 or so dmg with SATA. That's 1400 by the time you use one spinning slash. Same goes for rampage. Maybe it does only 500 while you do 1000, but they ARE going to out-TP you if they're any good and use ANOTHER one before you can. And if they have ridill? Forget about it. Be happy with your big dmg spikes, but dont make claims that your heavily outdamaging anyone unless they are a sucky player >.> As a Drk and a War I realize the weaknesses of both jobs. You should too.
There is a way that he could outdamage the WAR/NIN, besides equip ofcourse.
If he were to use things like Absorb-STR and DEX instead of doing things that raise the DoT of everyone and not just himself. On top of that, he would need to have haste and not include WS and the damage you get from closing the SC.Or, he was counting the damage done with Souleater and they were fighting things that were too high of lvl.
Another thing that could have happened is that the the WAR was tanking and using defender.
i'm waiting to farm the gil for this earring for my drk but now price went from 230k to 400k sigh god i hate people who raise the price on something that has very lol stats even if its from the bcnm sigh.
Wishes everyone to stop raising prices on items that have low stats and put it it its originaly price so everyone can be happy.
For me everytime i see nms and get the items i will always sell it at its true price and never overprice it ^^
One thing greed wont give you nothing but yourself what you should do is really think whats the true purpose of a items price. like sniper rings by my research its actully price should always be 150k and no more. This comes from a real person who studys artifacts. lewsson learn never over price a item even if its the last item on the ah.
When the cost of sniper rings goes from 500k to 2mil in one week and is now more expensive than Woodsmans Ring (1.9mil) I'd say that its gone to far.... Sniper Rings = 2mil Woodsman Rings = 1.9mil Peacock Charm = 20mil Life Belt = somewhere in the region of 150k-200k (prolly higher knowing pheonix...)
I agree with the guy, Sniper's ring aint worth that price. And as for the assault earring.... I haven't checked it yet, but im right in thinking that Accurate Earring has +2 Accuracy, and is 2mil, this has Accuracy: 2 Attack: 5 Evasion: -2, its gonna go for a hell of a lot more....
like sniper rings by my research its actully price should always be 150k and no more.
What? What the hell kinda research leads you to believe that? Archer's Ring, used to make Sniper's ring, used to come from Stroper Chyme, a heavily camped mob. Archer's Rings were always expensive, as there was a high demand and relatively low supply. Now there's an even lower supply, since Archer's Rings have moved to a BCNM.
Next reason Sniper's ring is expensive: it has to be crafted. And doing so requires high leathercrafting ability. Therefore, price of supplies (which includes a rare and expensive ring) plus the price of "labor" (leathercraft is not a cheap craft to level) equals where in your looney mind did you come up with 150K?
Third reason they're expensive: low supply, high demand. You haven't taken any classes in economics have you? Or English it seems:

I find it hard to believe that person is you. And if you're taking this on someone else's word, they might need a few "lewssons" in economics.
Ok, i was going to buy one of these for when I lvl, but... they're going for 600k now on Asura. WTF!? I could buy another sniper's ring for +5 acc instead of this. That's just insane.
The truth is that with good equipment all melee jobs can be good damage dealers, obviously a bard is not going to outdamage a ranger (directly), but the key here is equipment, if you paladin is wearing negative enmity and defense gear he is gonna suck, if a dark doesn't have snipers he isn't going to be that good unless he has a bard to bail him out. Now I realize I'm just getting into the high levels, I enjoyed warrior and I love dark, but I know the key to being a good DD is knowing the interface and having good equipment. I mean I have outdamaged rangers, but clearly if a ranger had a peacock charm and a muskateer's gun it would kick ***. I have also been outdamaged by dragoons, the sniper+1s helped and the guy had some experience with merit points so he knew what he was doing. That being said jobs have certain strengths and weaknesses. And bragging about successes doesn't really prove anything about the "goodness" of a job. All jobs were designed to be "good". Warriors have great versatility and good job abilities, monks smack the crap outta things with WS. Regardless the most important thing is to be happy with your job and know its limitations. Inherently a warrior isn't going to do as much damage as a dark knight with equal equipment and skills. A dark has physical attack boosts, absorb spells and the most offensive equipment. That being said warriors can mock darks when they have aggressor, war cry and beserk on and darks can have their fun owning with souleater, but lets see them tank for a little while, lol. What I'm trying to say is that job competition is dumb, its about what you enjoy.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Oct 20 2004 at 12:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I cant belive someone would even say war isnt a good DD oviously you have not pt with a well equiped war in the long run war will out damage your drk or you thf being able to use pretty much any sub and still have all the abilities that make the DDs usally better. as my war post 30 i have outdamaged most thfs all drks and some rngs that were poorly equiped not even going to mention drg lol yeah i had all the gil possible to do so but that is no excuse for those of you just looking for a high lvl job. or you that say this is my sub i dont care about my equip /kick good luck with that sub. hehe war/thf is your best bet for a war DD a nin sub can keep up post 55 but not surpass ill even give you a hint (dex all dex gear and thf sub) oh and acc where you can get it. like life belt assualt earring etc dont go buy snips if you have thf sub If you want to go thf sub the more dex you have the more damage you will do. LOL sorry ill stop rambling now just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there i usally dont.
I agree with Alablast, I wish I could see a drg eq before inviting he/she into my pt, because alot of drgs I pted with sometimes grab tp quicker then a sam (jump, high and super jump). And drg make excellent DD, gimp or not it's the player not the job.
Now, about the war/nin issue. I personally like war/nin better then war/thf. Why? Because it makes you more versatile (I.E, warcry, berserk, aggressor, rampage. You grab hate, take off berserk, put utseumi on, then start blink tanking) with war/thf, you get SATA and raging rush, which is wonderful, but you make war (in a way) one-side, to where they can't tank as good. I like to keep my war in between pld and drk (as in, have both DD and tanking eq :). So drg is a great DD, and war/nin kicks all a?? lol
Funny, I've never had any problems out-damaging WARs.
But then, I'm a DRG, and I'm not stupid like most people; I recognize that the wyvern is part of my overall damage. When you add that to my own damage (which is already on par with other melees), it's no wonder that you wouldn't bother mentioning DRGs- it would just be conterproductive to your point to admit you couldn't out-damage one particular job.
Of course, WARs make excellent DDs; especially when they're subbing NIN. Dual-wielding axes is insane. They get a dexterity boost (almost what THF gives them), and though they miss out on SATA... that's really not important, if you're aiming for DOT (like DRG/WAR/MNK), as opposed to one-hit-wonders (like DRK and THF).
WARs dual-wielding axes is just insane. It's something you just have to see in action.
Yeah as a 57 Drk with my Good Equipment, i deal far more damage then warrior with axes. I need this earring for when i lvl, but i also need vassago's scythe, and haubergeon in 2 lvls. I got some farming to do, /cry,
Yeah, srry about that. I kept talking about war/nin being so good that I forgot to mention the drg's potential. It's insane how much dmg they can do, not just by themselves but with there dragon. As long as the drg remembers to get rid of the dragon when there's links (Therefore not killing off the dragon <,<) It's all good. Granted......in the future lvs drg do miss ALOT of extreme STR+ DEX+ ATCK+ ACC+ eq (Haubergeon for example) they do indeed get some good eq (Assault Jerkin, Assault Earrings, and of course Snipers+1) but like war, you need ALOT of money to make drg a great job, because if not your gonna miss alot......and when you hit it's gonna suck.....same with other jobs, but ppl always notice the negative things about drg (once they hear that they're "gimped" they automatically try to see how many times that drg missed, etc) so even though I'm a war/nin, I /salute you Alablast, keep on rocking.
"As long as the drg remembers to get rid of the dragon when there's links" DRGs no longer have to worry about that, if they have just summoned their wyvern, and it dies, wait 20 mins and viola "i think thats how it's spelled" and you have your dragon again, thank you SE
I would replace "dwarfing DRK's and THF's, easily" with "possibly" or "more consistently" outdamaging DRK and THF. I'm THF 58 atm, and seldom do I see WAR or DRK get close to my damage, as shown by damage parser.
I understand that Rampage and Sturmwind are both very nice and all...but saying SA + Sturmwind gives great dmg = War weapon skill and THF Job Ability...not a WAR job ability. If you're going to say your WAR is a great DD...do it with a WAR ability.
This being said...
War is a very versatile job. Can make an excellent DD if equipped to do so, and can make an excellent tank if equipped to do so, and can make an excellent puller if equipped to do so...and...etc. etc. etc. BUT you must be equipped to do so. The WARs who are great DD I have no doubt are stocked to the rim with +STR and +Attack items and I'm betting would not make as good a tank as if they were stocked with DEF and +VIT and such. I bet they use Berserk and not Defender. I bet they use Meat Miths/Chiefs instead of Crabs...I bet they use Thf for sub and not ___ (fill in your non-DD job class here). WHICH IS NOT BAD! I'M IN NO WAY SAYING THIS IS BAD! I'M SAYING...they can also NOT be good DDs as well. WARs can be whatever u make of them.
I hope this is helpful. Please recognize I'm not taking sides...but just posting facts ^^;

Wow. That was a completely pointless post.
So because Warrior can be a damage dealer, you have to have.. *GASP* Str and attack gear?! ... no way.
This is not a productive comment. By your logic, a Paladin or Ninja makes a horrible tank because they have to rely on a Warrior ability, Provoke, to keep the hate.
There's nothing wrong with using your sub to its fullest. If a THF uses berserk before its SATA skillchain should we discount the damage it does/hate it adds?

tell that to the drk/thf SC closers.......and tell them "Your not doing that much dmg (1k with a SC closer) that thf SUB is doing that dmg *drools*"
Sub jobs are there to enhance your main job, not to overpower it
Keep your wiseass shut and play war to 40+, then say if 500dmg SA+Sturmwind is DD or not? and landing a 70-120 hit everytime the hit connects.
That just proves that Thief is a Damage Dealer, not Warrior. Maybe if you tried to prove it using one of Warrior's skills, but *any* job can sub Thief past 30 and do decent damage with Sneak Attack.
Not really, that just proves thief is a good sub job for war and war can do as much dmg as a thf in WS with /thf sub job... doesn't say anything about thief as a DD >_>
Damage dealing WARs, DRK, and DRG wouldn't be the only ones that can use this. BST can use this to great effect while soloing and in parties (and yes, we can party and rock the Kazbah or however that's spelled). And that Enmity-2 will rock, even though I have little trouble managing Hate. In fact it's one of the things I'm most looking forward to ^^.
I did see a PLD wearing one in Jeuno - I laughed out loud. What an idiot...
Yeah WAR is very good DD starting at about 50+, my friend out dmgs 90% of DRKs we party with. I think NIN sub is best DD for WAR, with dual axes of course.
*looks up* oooooo, such a big string of RE's o_O........war/nin=whoooo!!!
FYI: at one point of time plds do indeed cap def (as in, they cannot get anymore, like a skill capped) so they can use it so they can gain tp and ONCE AND A WHILE use spirits within, which we all know (for that WS) dmg=hp and mp, not atck and acc :P
