i am currently 59 cooking i trying to skill up 2 70 but finding that yag drinks are not giving me any hope of it. should i try melon pies until 64?? and sell for profit?

yes, they type of egg actually changes the cap. you will notice this with all the sweet pies.

I personally started about a week ago at Lv. 58 with a fairly good success rate (6~8/12). You could probably start earlier if you want, but I'd really reccomend advanced synthesis support if you do.

It varies depending on the server, but they're around 2k right now on Unicorn. Check your local AH =)

Well, I just used one, and I received INT +4, MP +25, and AGI -1. Did NOT give me MP +30.
