Platinum Ore  

The only way I know to get a decent amount of gil is to go mining. It's a job and it sux. However, I learned a few things about it. Best time to go is on or near a new moon. I get bad results on a full moon. I get more platinum ores in Oldton Movopolos then I do in Palborough Mines. In fact, the only time, if I'm really lucky, I get platinum is Palborough is during ice day. Ice day is usually pretty bad for mining any where else except palborough. One thing that really pisses me off is that when I bust my ass mining for 80-120k gil, cheaters somehow end up with a full bazaar full of platinum ore. How? I suspect that it might have something to do with the Newton Movopolos exploit I got a glimpse of on a few FFXI sites. Unfortunately they were pay sites so I have no clue what this exploit is. But the point I'm making is that when I called a GM, the ass told me they have the right to mine as long as they want. Like WTF, I was trying to point out they were getting full loads of platinum within 24 hours. Now I know you cant do that legitly cuz of the dam gimp SE put on mining (if you mine in a spot too long, it reduces getting the good stuff). Plus during a mining trip I have to fight all the gill sellers for spots. It has come to the point now where I dont give a dam, i'm gunna mine that spot if some is there or not. Hey, if someone does it to me, i'm paying em back lol.

well, yesterday i thought it would be a good idea to start mining seriously, so i buyed some Field Armor and went to Palborough. after that i started to mine several Pebbles and Mythril Ores, and i suddenly mined a Platinum Ore. after that 1 hour later i mined another one, and lastly i found another one 30 or 40 minutes later. when i returned to Bastok, Platinum Ores were selling like 70k-80k! (Fairy Server) omg!, i made nearly 250k! in less than 4 hours!!

i tried it and i got it second time, i only had 3 pickaxes... i did it in paborough mines cuz iwas working on mission 2-3, i set it on auction in bastok for 40k lakshmi server

plat. ore i need to know different places you can get it at. i know the mine near bastok but to rare of find. need to know a better choice even if ifrit's cauldron. if any help please list.

My first 10 times digging i find one on the 10th try...Lucky Me!!! I sold it and it goes for 25k on ifrit server

I happened to get one of these in Oldton Movalpolos without any mining gear.

Man I'm so jealous for my friend he went mining with some other friends on our LS, I came with them but my brother booted me off the PS2 befor I could mine. And he got the ore and it sells for 21k on Diabolos server.

only Gold and Drk steel in gusgun and platinum is only found in palborough

Man, you guys are lucky. Platinum ores in the Fairy server are 15k. The highest I've seen the price rise (then drop after a month) was 18k in Jeuno >_<. I usually mine about 4 plats a day, but when I think of what the other servers are getting for them, I feel like crap.....

Had my first full day of mining yesterday. I never tried it before because I thought that the profit wasn't worth it. Boy was I wrong. I ended up with 2 platinum, 11 mythril and countless iron ores. This paid for my mining gear and left me with quite a profit.

May have been beginners luck getting those two platinums, but I'm not complaining. Sold for 30k each on Valefor.

i had never mined before and i bought some pickaxes to get some gravel from the seam for mission 2-3..after i got my gravel i had 2 or so axes left so i saw a mining point and stuck my pickaxe in..never have mined for any thing other than the gravel and i pulled out a platinum ore..i had never seen one so i asked some buddies on the LS to check out the ptice in sandy.they said it sold for 40k..i bout jumped out my lizzard gear since i was lvl 18 or so and that was a lot for me..ended up selling it for 30k in bastok though

Hey,I have done about 2 days worth of mining with full field gear (well, the three pieces that add to mining...tunic, gloves, and boots. The total i paid for all of them was around 25k). I have gotten 2 platinum ores, and several mythril. I have noticed though that on days like earth and wind i get barely any mine point spawns, and if i do, they suck.

There really is no specific place to get ore, they are all random. So you could possibly get 4-5 platinum ores in a row (VERY unlikely).

The place where you mine the orichalcum ore is in ifrits cauldron i think. Good luck with that one. The risk is WAY to great for anyone under like level 75 (Even then you get aggroed in certain areas. The bombs in there detect magic, so you have to use prism powders and silent oil). A friend of mine de-leveled four times in one day trying to mine there, but he also made around 400k off that stuff and adaman ore.

Ok, here's the deal. Myself and a few LS mates mine fairly regularly, and the absolute only place to get platinum is in Palborough Mines. I strongly believe that your chances of getting platinum are highest on Lightsday, as my friend has gotten 3-4 in one run (about 4 stacks of axes) and I've pulled up 2 on one Lightsday. Other days I'm lucky to get one. To support this theory is the fact that to get platinum nuggets from gardening, you need to plant on lightsday, and feed the cuttings light crystals. Each ore corresponds to a specific element, for instance, mythril (also only found in Palborough, sells for 1.2-1.4k) can be found primarily on ice day, and some on other days, but somewhat rarely. I've pulled up 4 mythrils in a row on ice day, after going through nearly 2 stacks of axes on windsday, breaking alot and pulling a few Iron/zinc, and lots of pebbles, copper and tin. This is just my mining insight, take it as you want.

Are the Mythril Seams you see in Palborough Mining Points?

That's all I've actually seen there. Are they on the upper levels mostly, or all around?

I havn't mined in palborough at all, i tried zeruhn once, but i have some platinum ore and have no idea where i got it. Anyone have any ideas?

Those prices are crazy. On my server they sell for only 20k tops.

Maybe just because mining is so popular on my server, but there are 25+ Platinums on sale in Jeuno on Caitsith server. They are selling for only 28k.

Does anyone know where one can mine a chunk of orichalcum ore? They sell for 50k on my server. Only 3 on sale o.O

there is a reason is worth 41k cause it so dahm hard to find when u do u better get somethen out of it..id say if u aint willingto spend bout 2-4 days in the mines u aint gonna get what ur looken for
