The grotto is not a good place. I spent hours upon hours there, and got like 2 ores. I mean I would say in the span of like 5 hours a day, for 3 weeks to get 2 of em. /sigh

IRL gold dosent come in ore its completly unreactive and comes out pretty much pure, this is why gold objects from thousands of years ago are as good as new.

Gold can come from ore. If you do a search for "Gold Ore", you will find that there are many findings for it. In fact, scientist have been working on ways to remove gold from ore by using plants that suck up gold. The most common findings of gold are nuggets or shavings, but are gold ores out there.

on midgard darksteel is now more expensive than gold ore hehehe, i remember when 2 darksteel would equal 1 gold :P thats before the inflation though...

I really like this Ore because it is my main money maker. I usally mine 1-2 eack time i go to the Grotto making my at least 40 K in 1.5 hour even though my best is getting 2 of these and 1 dark in under 30 minutes. FYI i was in full mining gear.

I've had some luck mining these ores from Yughott Grotto. I have much better mining experiences there then oh, lets say Gusgen Mines! *shudder* I suppose alot of the results are based on luck though hmm.
You can also get this drop from the NM "Bigmouth Billy" in East Ron. I fought him once back when i started as a lv 13 WAR...haven't seen the cute lil' guy since. <.< >.>

Heh, I used to mine Yughott Grotto for fun once in a while and I got 2 gold ores, one on each trip, then I bought field boots and gloves. Since then I haven't gotten a single one! Figures.

AH is around 5k on fairy...stupid people buy stuff on AH whne you could run to a NPC and get it for half the price...chocobo feathers is a great example... bought for 7 each, sell for 1k a stack (about), lol when i started playing i would have my AH filled with them, made a decent amount of money hehe

Gold Ore also drops from Goblin Miners in Labyrinth of Onzozo. Very rare drop though.

You can also get Gold ore by gardening. You need a brass flowerpot and sow Cactus Stems. Feed Ice crystals. 1 on Windsday, 1 on Lightning day. It takes 2 weeks (earth time) to grow. Be patient.
I mine in Yughott more regularly than anyone. I must say i am the "King" here. Ive done all 5 gobiebags, blacksmith 27, goldsmith 12, so i can minimize my stuff into ingots. I have full set of worker equipt as well. Usually i take 6 stacks of pickaxes, and 2-3 stacks of fire crystals. In 2-3 hrs here i pull down 40k at an average. My best day was yesterday, in 2hr i got 8 gold ores, 4 darksteels, and 6ingots worth of irons. I think the amount of good stuff depends on others mining. When im by myself i usually get the best results, so stay out noob miners.

I mine Yughott regularly in the full worker gear (that's the +1 field). My best run was during a half moon (50%) on firesday, and I pulled up the following:
3 Gold
2 Darksteel
3 Coloured Rocks
In addition to all the bitty stuff (iron, etc.). I think I had about 3 stacks of picks with me on that run. I smith, turning the iron ores into sheets (which sell between 35k-38k per stack on Cerberus) and brass sheets (15k if I remember correctly).

Today I started mining in Gusgen, my first time ever mining, So I brought full mining gear, 40 piks, just about anythimng that helps.
Anyway, after about 2 hours mining, and using up around 15 piks These are my results (not including copper, tin, zinc or pebbles which happened ALOT)

I got 1 dark steel, and 1 gold ore in the same spawn, which I shouted, and got this response 'B*****d!' So I think that means I did well ^^;

i made my first mining trip today with just feild gloves and 12 pickaxes. Im lvl 25 and needed a good way to earn gil and i diceded what the heck lets givi mining a try. I went to yghott grotto(i camped the ashmaker after my pickaxes all ran out). Well anyway i had no trouble finding mining spots becuase ppl were campin the ashmaker and not lookin for mining spots. so after around 10 minutes of mining my 12 picaxes all ran out. I was left with 3 tin ores, 2 zinc ores, 3 iorn ores, one white stone, 3 flint stones, 12 pebbles and one gold ore!!! i sold them all and made 10,500 gil. Subbtract my 4k for the gloves and 2.5 k for the pickaxes i made a profit of around 4k gil. Pretty good considering its my first time mining.

Of course now the noobs have invaded on ps2 and the price of darksteel is higher than the price of gold. Odd isn't it, also since ps2 has arrived the price of platinum has gone for 30k to 20k.
Getting gold ore in Gusgen is about as rare as getting darksteel ore in Zeruhn IMO.

I got darksteel in Zehruhn, first catch o' the day.
I have full field clothing and have only gotten one gold ore after 4 trips to Gusgen Mines (about 50 pickaxes). Sold for 9k in Bastok on Quetzalcoatl. I got 5 darksteel ores on the other hands in that time. So its even more rare than darksteel.

So where could we get this from?
Aside from Worm creatures and mining, the only other option is Auction House and Goldsmith guildshop.
Goldsmithing guild doesn't sell gold ore...i wish there was a NPC that sold it though...but then again, all the servers would have 5000 gold ore in the AH for like 500 gil..not bad if you're a goldsmither.
