Camped this damn item for an entire day with a few King pops here and there...however I did have better luck getting the Cruel Scythe that drops from Doppleganger Dio (a higher lv mob 31??) nice for my friend who wants to be a Drk.

I also got Doppleganger Gog while camping the King. He can drop a cruel spear which is usuable by war/pld/sam/drg does 29 damg and same other effects as scythe.

Bomb arms drop here too...pinch of bomb ash as well.

One thing I want to mention here is this...I have no idea what the placeholders are here...however I did notice that outa my frustration I eventually killed everything that moved in that place and these mobs started spawning about 10-15 min apart. Before that I was camping the <pos>'s of the mobs and killing those placeholders.

I only typed this because I feared that SE removed these mobs from the lineup, and so I created an Allakazham acct. to warn people not to waste precious hours of their life camping these beasts.

But then Doppleganger Dio showed up after 4 + hours of camping.

Also Balloons spawn. Apparently these 'can' drop a throwing weapon, but I never got the drop.

Mind you I didn't have /thf as I usually did. I was merely checking it out and became intriqued....and now I share it with the world.

As for selling this stuff....well there are more profitable ventures...that is if your time = money. Otherwise if you want to use this stuff, it wouldnt be a bad choice for camping around 34.

And I am POSITIVE that your friend made good use of the scythe. Agreed that this area has some use to it. BTW, you should hurry up and get to 75rdm so we can kill everyhing that we havent already. One last thing, I strongly believe your friend would also like a KC. Not sure though, but I really think he would.

I'd use the VIT. Beef up VIT at lower levels and then by the upper 20s start beefing up AGI as well. I say this since you know, against an angry pug in the dunes it'll buy you less than 1 critical hit, while the VIT will lower the maximum amount of damage you can take (I think) from any hit. And also if you happen to be fighting gobs, the Fire -5 will really suck against gobbie bombs

Dark Knight 16/blm 8, exping and came across this guy Bomb King, con tough, so i tried to run but i change my mind and fight em instead, give em everything i got but to no avail, he have 1/4 hp left when he killed me, came back with my 36 war/18 thf, waited for an hour, saw em again, killed em and got the drop, nice ring, i can used this with 2 def and extra 15 hp to do some farming.

ive been into the outer ruins three times and ive seen the bomb king twice. both times i killed him as a war30 and havent gotten drop yet. :(

he spawns in 1 of the 3 rooms. There's 3 specific rooms, Balloon can be place holder. If king does pop:

DoppleGanger Gog (Cruel spear)
DoppleGanger Dio (Cruel Scythe)
Balloon (bomb ash, bomb arm)

will pop.

After deciding to hunt for the bomb king as one of my NMs to kill i camp it...and camp...and camp until 3 days later (23 hours worth) he finally spawns, i get 3 drops and including the bomb ring, so im happy :)

Walked into the runins yesterday with a friend of mine, we were looking for the king. As soon as we got in there, he shouted "BOMB KING"(to me, he had widescan), and we were off. He was in that exact room too, marked on the map. Pretty easy to kill, seeing as he was a lvl40 samurai. No ring though, only some bomb ash.

the bomb queen is a much higher level and im sure bomb king was installed way before queen was even thought of.

only 8 minutes, more than likly you will end up wth 2-3 stacks of bomb ash, which by me is pretty worth it. i mean farming anyway right? and the king is just sh*ts and giggles , icing on the cake. a nice addition as i see it.

Maybe I'm just lucky but after fighting this guys 5 times I got him to drop 3 rings but only after I sold them 1 at a time for 17k. On to the dops and their spoils....

I've killed the bomb king 7 times over a 4 hour period or so and got NO RINGS. NONE. ZIP. NONE. It seems that bomb kings are a rare spawn of doppelgangers also :P rite after dio, this spawned, and rite after this spawned, gog spawns then a balloon spawned :/ but the ring is RARE

Here's everything you need to know after eight straight hours of camping these guys:

Where: North tower of East Sarutabuta -> Outer Horutoto Ruins. Spawns are shown on site.

Respawn: Exactly eight minutes for a placeholder to spawn.

Placeholder: Balloon

NMs: The Bomb King is a rare spawn of a Balloon. The Dopelgangers are rare spawns of the Bomb King.

Over an eight hour period of watching hockey and Family Guy with eight minute respawns, I killed the Bomb King five times, got the ring once; killed Gog twice, no drop; and killed Dio thrice, no drop. As a Monk/Warrior, I had no Treasure Hunter.

These guys are great NMs to hunt as they run on a timer, have a fast respawn, and are generally uncamped. I saw one other person come in the entire time, and he left quickly. I plan on going back tomorrow. The placeholder Balloon drops Bomb Ash, and a stack of that is around 7k. I ended up making 22k on the trip, and didn't have to do anything but watch TV and check my stopwatch every eight minutes for a spawn. It's great stuff, and if you have a high level THF, the drops are great. Ring is about 15k, Scythe is about 10k, Spear is about 8k, and a stack of Bomb Ash is about 7k. You can make 40k on a trip as a level 45 THF since the drops should be quick and easy.

Also, the King is very easy to kill, the Dopelgangers are about level 28 or so, since at level 33 I got 12 XP, but at 35 I got none.

Something isn't right with the spawns everyone's always talking about with the NM in this ruin. Most people claim that they spawn anywhere between 8-10 minutes each. I've camped this tower many times, and found that they don't ever seem to spawn less than 40 minutes apart, and never at the same time. The baloons are all placeholders, but the King won't spawn until you kill about 8 or 9 of them. This makes for a tedious camp that takes way longer than it's worth in gil. Might as well farm silk and cornettes while you wait for Spiny Spipi. At least then you're guarenteed some gil while you wait.

Sorry, I so don't agree with you on this point. I have a 51 THF and just learned about these NM's this AM while farming onions in the ruins. I went in, killed a bomb and about 10 mins later up popped the King. Killed him and got an ash and a ring. Walked away happy. Musta been my lucky day too as I got the Trailer's Tunica for my RNG on the first kill of Malta (NM slime)earlier too. I never get a drop on the first kill of an NM so yay me. lol

Another part of the pattern. It appears that the NMs each have thier own spawn point. I have seen three NM spawns, two Doppleganger Dio, one Bomb King (no drop, even with a 43 thf in the group). The Doppleganger has spawned both times in the Right-most spawn point, and the king in the middle one (right side, just not all the way right). If anyone who has camped it longer than I have can confirm this, that would be good. Oh, one more thing, the NM spawns are kinda rare, there is a long time between them, unfortunatly. I camped the king for 3-4 hours, 1 kill, no drops. Smiley: banghead

Also, as stated in the king himself, they mobs spawn every 8 min, on the dot. You can set a timer for 8 min (right when you down the last mob), then right then, there WILL BE A SPAWN, I would reccomend camping a room other than the one it last spawned at (probobility says it won't spawn twice in the same place), or, if there are several people camping it, camp the room it's supposed to spawn it (see above).

This is actually a pretty simple camp for a 25+ character, once you find the entrance. If you look at this map of East Sarutabaruta, the entrance is in the tower at (H-3).

Once inside the tower you only need to clear a single mob that spawns in one of three rooms. The three rooms are labeled on that map.

Four different mobs can spawn: two named Dopplegangers, a Balloon (bomb type), or the King himself. (although I have only ever seen the Ballon and the Bomb King).

One of the above should spawn every 10-15 minutes or so. I got my ring on the third kill of the king.

my brothers ranger got this ring for me the first time he fought the monster hes a level 33 thief

But i came back the same day found the guy and i had no weapon ( im a level 25 warrior/11monk ) so i had to kill him hand-to-hand and i killed it :)
