The Sand is an item you need to start using the synergy furnaces. I've ben trying for hours to get it because its the last item I need for it.

This is also used in the San d'Orian Mission 'Travel Abroad' to reach rank 3. Harvest this from the machine in Palsborough Mines and return it to the clerk in the Bastok President's office to complete the Bastok side of the mission (assuming you haven't done the Windurst side first).

Actually this is found by refining mine gravel through the machine in the pal mines. Any clues as to what it's used for?
