Oni means Ogre like Demon. Not exclusivly an Ogre.
Hey!

How useful is this, because I'm currently a 65SAM and wondering "Hay. I should get one of these."

Editsu!

Actually, having gotten one for 140k on Ragnarok, I was pretty suprised at it. Not exactly what I thought it would be, but eh.

EXP: I didn't notice the overall diffrence between the damage between the zanbato and the onikiri. It was pretty interesting to note that it's just a 1 DMG increase, which I thought might make a diffrence in the longrun or something.

How wrong was I?

SATA Gekko gave me a few good times, such as closing Darkness for 800 and mirroring 800. That made me happy. But that's basically the only time it did make me happy. Now onto...

******** around: A BLU friend of mine needed Hecatomb Wave. And I knew from a few unfriendly encounters with those gorgeous beasts that were able to preform this move were demons. Thinking to myself "Good, now I can try out the onikiri's crit rate!" At the time that I was accompanying my friend and a 69RDM, I was getting all giddy and wanting to use the onikiri and whathaveyou. So they get a demon that uses it, and promptly I yell at the BLU

"GET BEHIND THE DEMON O_O"

He did, and I popped off SATA Gekko for what was 730 damage. Now, this kinda got me thinking, "Hey, it didn't probably come off that time, too!" The other four eyes and sixteen demons before that one agree; the crit rate did not increase dramatically or noticeably. Happy though, the BLU got his spell and we went off and he attracted aggro to the RDM and I, so we proceeded to hack away with a new zeal.

Conclusion: I think you'd be happier with a zanbato. Onikiri is one of those "ego" weapons, and just looks cool.

Happy trails!

dont forget the delay difference. not that it matters too much but some prefer a little speed over a litle damage. just sayin :p

Edit: 鬼斬り (Onikiri) means demon/ogre killer, more or less.

Onikiri really mean...
# Jul 13 2005 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
like kama said Onikiri mean Demon cutter but it Oni mean Demon and kiri mean cut, cutter but when u see it for like the whole word and it is a weapon it really mean "Demon Killers" but it also mean "Demon Cutter" i think hannya or daihannya mean ogre of some sort, and like newber said it effectively mean end of demon because when u look at the name-meaning of this sword after u kill millions demon i kinda sound like end of demon =)

It spawns right on top of a Coffer-every time I check that spawn it's sitting right there.

Ok. So i shouted for help on my quicksand cave coffer key and no one responded for like 1 hour or so. and so this japanese player "Rossweisse" /tell me and asked me if i needed help on that. he/she was a lvl75nin/37war. it's good that some kind people is willing to help you for FREE!.
so anyway..i paid a whm to help and another thf just tagged along. we were in there for an hour and got the key. whm bailed, and he just helped me to coffer chest hunt ^^ and guess what? he said he lend me this Greak Katana. i was like OMG!!!!
it's hard to have someone as kind as him to give out such good item... you don't see any stranger give u emperor hairpins or leaping boots for FREE!

Thank you soo much Rossweisse...though i guess you won't visit this website ^^

Time for your daily dose of Japanese!

When translated literally:

JP: Onikiri
EN: "Demon Cutter"

I guess that explains the special effect.
i attack you with rice!
# Jul 13 2004 at 12:37 AM Rating: Decent
Onikiri makesme think of onigiri, and picturing a SAM fighting with a rice ball is rather funny.
