Fly Lure: No thanks

After whatever update, I can't recommend Fly Lure for catching these if you happen to be fishing in Carpenter's Landing. Now, you'll probably end up catching 70% Muddy Siredons with the fly. Instead, try using the Sinking Minnow; it works very well for snagging trout, and they seem to like it better than the regular Minnow. Both of these lures will catch Dark Bass which cap at level 33 fishing, but again, trout seem to bite more on the sinking lure than the normal minnow.

Hope this helps!

did 31 casts with Carbon rod + either Fly lure or Sinking minnow...got .1. I decided to switch back to my Halcyon rod and got .5 in the next 20 casts...sounds like Halcy is the way to go on these in East Ronfaure.

found this trout while fishing in carpenter's landing near north sandy entrance. i used a clothespole and fly lure. hope this helps friends. p.s. with this combination and location i was able to fish up a lot of rusty leggings (great to send to a bastok mule to sell in bastok/norg ah). rusty leggings needed for Norg quest so they are a fast seller.

I was catching these with level 8 fishing skill with a carbon rod + fly lure in Cheval river in E Ronfaure. They sell to vender for 50 gil each but the guild in Windy will give you 75 gil each.

How often were you having rod breaks? I've been trying to use Comp. rod here but I don't catch everytime @ lvl12 and was hoping a different rod would remedy the situation. But at 7-8K a rod, if they break often here (as clanwind suggests) then I will stick with Comp.

Thanks!

I've never risked using a carbon rod here, because of the enormous amount of rusty items that can possibly snap it. I'd suggest sticking with the composite fishing rod, unless you can repair carbon on the spot. Otherwise, it'd slow you down too much, having to replace rods and baits lost due to the rusty items.

Anther suggestion I'd make(and that goes for anything that can be fished with a composite rod) is to use a Clothspole instead. In my experience, it seems to perform better than composite, due to being made out of wood(making it much easier to wear down the fish's stamina), while being almost as durable and very affordable.

Well, I can safely say that Halcyon + Fly Lure is no longer the trick. I went to three spots in Carpenter's landing, and all I caught was Muddy Siredons. I think they made a change that the muddy siredon is no longer only catchable on the barge.

It kind of threw a monkey wrench into me leveling my cooking.
