Amen, these aren't the easiest item to find, but it's not impossible (like a Cassie Earring for example).

After the clock struck --14-- in the dunes last night I immediately fell in love!

I was using Brass Knuckles +1, a great hand-to-hand weapon, but let's face it...strike baghnakhs give you +2 dexterity (same as a Balance ring!), and have half the weapon timer delay of Brass Knuckles+1, as well as a bit more damage.

For the level, they are without question (in my opinion) worth the 20,000 gil (thereabouts) that they cost. Sell your armor to buy this, and run around naked if you're a monk at level 14!

You're not a tank anyway? You're a damage dealer. Nothings trying to hit you when you're in a party if the tank is doing his job, so if you have a choice...that's right...you guessed it...

ok, 1st thing 1st, i have had a ton of Exp, playing FFXI, (about to break 200 days playtime)
i say this not to brag, but to let you know i know what i'm talking about.

1. of course thf should have their dagger skills up to par, but, honestly. the dagger is gimp, very gimp, daggers actually blow till 33 when you get viper bite, i mean what are you gonna do? SATA wasp sting lmao, anyways, H2H is the best way to go for a thf till 20's, then you can switch to swords and maybe sub nin, why mnk sub? mnks get a job trait that enhances H2H basically makes you attack faster, you dont need the sub to use the WS thf gets MOST of the H2H WS if not all, that im not sure on but i know the 1st few thf can use w/o mnk sub, but why you would use H2H and not sub mnk is beyond me,

2. these Strike Baghnakhs are awesome, they are a very kickass pair of claws, i should slap whoever said otherwise on this post, some have had bad luck, but maybe its not in the claws, maybe its just them and they have 0 skill, sure only 2 dex, but 2 dex here 1 dex there 3 dex over there, it adds up!, DEXterity affects critical hit damage as well !! more dex more crit dmg, Sneak attack will make next attack a crit hit, ill say it again more dex more dmg

3. ok some are saying the knuckles are better... think about it knuckles have the HIGHEST delay of all H2H weapons these are in the 40's which is low for claws, claws normally sit in the 60's knuckles sit in the 90's ; ; so tell me how a lvl 15 thf is better off with knuckles? mnk maybe better of w knuckles but im talkin about thf here.

4. most of the gear you buy is a given, but to get the most out of your gimp-till-33-thf do this.. = lvl 1 it doesnt really matter what gear you use other than weapon, go H2H you will deal more dmg than a dagger or swd could think of, and rocket to 10 in no time to start xping with parties in valkrum upgrade accordingly, if you have the gil buy the leaping boots or hunt them w/e just get them at all means if you can, at 14 buy strike baghnakhs, the dex rings(suggestivly the +1's but base is ok if you are new and thf 1st choice job) and buy the battle gloves, as far as everything else goes.. just fit your thf best you can, just those 3 items make a huge difference.

5. i realize this post is for the strikes themselves but peeps brought up thf using them and pro's/con's so imma stay on the page and post here, when you get 20 you can finally get dual weild, it is nice to hold 2 weapons aint it? actually had someone ask me if you can use 2 sets of H2H with dualweild >.> wtf were they smoking?
anyways small swords are nice to have thats +4 dex with 2 of them not bad delay its a rapier type weapon, here you will do and only want to do sata fast blade, remebr no daggers unless you want your pt to blow and slow the time to get you to 33, when you reach 28 here is a hint: buy the lvl 25 crossbow, bloody bolts, sleep bolts, 2 archer knives, +1 beetle rings, now; solo thats right solo, with thf on yuhtunga mandragoras, these will check T to you but you can eat them alive with bloody bolts and have plenty of hp for chains 2 and maybe 3 ( i did this with rng, war, and drk as well missed a bit more with war and drk but it works), reapin in 200xp a fight(note: marksmanship has to be up to par for this too work) this will help you a ton because you will notice at 15 even noone but you knows how sneak attack works, and tryin to get some idiot to stand behind the mob for sata when you hit 30 is the most aggravating thing in the world, most others who have no previous exp with thf, wont figure it out till the 40's sadly, anyway solo those mandys till 30-31, then head to yhoater jungle and start takin those out, till you get your 33, this for me was actually fast i got 28-30 in a few hours, much faster than a pt because i had literally no downtime, why i mentioned the sleep bolts i will tell you now, thfs get the best evasion in the game as well as nin, doesnt mean youll dodge everything, but when you feel the urge to refresh utsusemi equip the sleep bolts sleep the mob ReUp your Uts' and back to bloody bolts, also i wanna add, mandragoras are MNK type, they hit weak but fast also they use gaurding skills, you cant gaurd ranged attacks so thats useless for them and good for you, at 29 i wanna say get noct gear it is great for thf the brais, i suggest unless your RSE add more dex, in my case nothin beats elvaan F chausses, anyways i wanted to give you new thfs some tips on how to get yourself to a party friendly lvl, other words to where you arent gimped w a crap dagger skill, as well as clear up confusion w the strike baghnahks, once more thf 1-20 H2H, 20-28 swords, 28-up daggers, right now my thf is 50 i have the gil so i go w this setup for now, THF/NIN
corsairs knife, bone knife +1, lifebelt(acc)/forrest belt(dex), emperors hairpin, leaping boots, brigadines, bat cape, elvaan F chausses, elvaan F gloves, drone earrings, arbelast +1/ combat casters boomerang +2, spike necklace, snipers rings x 2(acc)/deft rings x 2(dex). now i go for the accuracy until SATA, then i swap into dex gear for sata using macros to change the gear automatically, (you cannot miss a clean set up sata), accuracy is important as thf you do so little dmg you rely more on your TP you need to get to 100 as fast as possible to execute the SC's but like i said you cant miss sata if done correctly so no need for acc there go for dex. well GL to ya new thfs, if you have any things suggesting otherwise to my post or questions let me know

6. barrage won't outdamage sata viperbite, on IT flys in crawlers nest i would sata viper bite them for an average of 640 dmg, i broke 700 once or twice as lvl 47-48, yes it wont deal as much to the beetles in garliage citadel but i would do 450-500 on those, ive yet to see barrage surpass that kind of damage that i can pull off about every minute, mind you with the acc i have id have 100% tp just about 1 minutes time,

anyways, long post sorry im bored been campin this nm forever he hasnt popped yet GL!! :D

The +3 or even +2 acc claws are better...

Accuracy is better than DEX, if you're trying to hit the mobs, if you want more crits, DEX is better I guess.
Still, Republic Knuckles are far better and around the same price.

i used these for quite a while, delay is not bad, and the +2 dex is always nice

I notice mostly n00bs post on here, thinking they know it all. This is a nice weapon for a low level, +2 dex, it IS worth the price

Whenever I go NM camping (I want the shield for WAR and knuckles for MNK) I always read these posts - and to tell the truth get a little depressed hearing about all the time wasted camping these things, and then you hear about people killing it first try, not even expecting the items. Its no wonder why psychiatric medications are becoming increasingly available to the public.

At least this spawn has 2 monsters to camp and the delay is an hour (or less)

im a 18 lvl thf and i've used both daggers and H2H, and yes you can use sneak attack with knuckles.

also, i prefer H2H over daggers because it seems to me that knuks do more damage than daggers do, and altho the dagger WS wasp sting poisons the monster your fighting, H2H WS Combo can do some good damage later on.

ok a few questions.....

1: How can you tell if a h2h weapon is better than a dagger? the stats are displayed differently and h2h hits twice so i cant think of a way = /

2: At this lvl, would it be better to use these instead of a dagger when playing a thief? ive heard that you should always use daggers with thieves, but from what ive checked, the only good lower lvl dagger is a Bee Stinger till about your 20's, but bee stinger is very out dated by this lvl, so it makes me wonder...

3: With h2h, can you still use all the thief abilitys/skills correclty?? i think once i heard from someone that you cant sneak attack with h2h, but it was in ronfaure and it might have been some noob comment, so i was just curious

sorry for the noob question's but im new to thief and ive always been wondering about this, usually people say "h2h is for monks, use a dagger!" so yeah, thx in advance for any info =)

Heh I was stumbling thru ghelsba without a map and happened upon one of these uncamped... killed it and got the knuks... just wish i had this sort of luck with the leaping boots.... oh yeah they go for around 30k on the alexander server in sandy

how much do these cost at the AH?

to all those wanting to get this item, as of yet i have been unable to (only killed 4 of the guys). In my wait however i have gotten my lantern shield :). I have noticed the spawn time for the two are the following:

1st spawn of Wallbreacher (whenever, dependent on when last was killed)

The spawn of the Barricador comes shortly afterward anywhere between 2 min and 15 minutes later.

2nd spawn 1hr 25min - 1hr 35min after death of the 1st orcish wallbreacher

The spawn of the barricador comes same as before 2 minutes to 15 minutes later...

This drop is really rare for me... the lantern shield was not (got it on second kill).

After this off for LL for the Leaping Boots... hehe

I try solo again last night,

Try to kill that thing. I forgot that orcs name, I think he is the one who drop this baghnakh.

I'm only take him 1/3hp and I got beat to dead. I think this mog at lest 18 - 20+. Well, I will try again with a group next time.

It says dropped by the Orcish Wallbreacher. Where is this guy located, or does he just float around? How strong is it?

A lot of jobs have hand to hand as an option.. just look at who can use this weapon..
