granted this wasnt the perfect setup for the battle. but we still manage to beat it in like 5-7 min. In beginning everything was going fine. The blms' main jobs were nukers / healers and everyone else their regular roles. Then our health were going into yellow because our whm d/c accidently in the middle battle (bad timing huh?). Then the blms became the main healers. by that time, the nm health point was down to 1/8. So we were just healing the tank and the dd. If the battle lasted any longer, we would have been in trouble. but we kicked its butt!!!

Got the hat yesterday, here's the set up BLM/WHM 4x : ~lv58-59(including me) SAM/WAR: lv73 (Our tank) RDM/BLM: lv73 WHM/BLM: lv74 BLM/WHM: lv75 (guided us safely into toraimarai canal)
We cleared the room without any problems.I tried to tell the Japanese players that we were going to let it pop 4 times, and depop it, so we only had to fight it once...but my japanese is limited to konishiwa and arigato (if its spelled right^^). We fought it 3 times, easy fight, just ceep that thing silenced! he cast sleepgaII so be carefull Onley 1 member died, a Lv58 blm, 'couse the scropion thing and the skelly's respwaned...
My son just soloed this today for me he's a lvl 75 Ninja didn't time the fight but it went very well.At end of fight he told me he lost just over 100 hp in dmg.Well got he hat an I say GO Ninja GO.

So ive been reading these posts and i hear a 75 nin can solo this mob,so hell i figure a 75 smn can do it.So i find someone to open that dam 3mage door for me.go with my 75 blm gf so she can help me if i get agro,I get all my cs go to NM to see if it will pop so i sneak up go to ??? and pop it just to be sure i did everything right,so me and my kitty escape out and head back to windurst on the way i see my 75 whm buddy from ls i know he gots the key to open door so i ask him to help he said yes,so i grab some yag drinks and a marron glace and on the way i see my 73 brd buddy there^^ i say come with me he say's allright so we get back there as 75 smn <me> 75 blm > 73 brd < 75 whm < we pop it i use titan mountain buster did a whopping 124 dmg >< then i figured that wasnt working to well so i just use carby the whole time cause he was hitting as hard as rest of avatars and hes free and meteroite was doing same dmg as 70+ BP. So all in all vry fun fight lasted maybe 10min.No close calls.And i coulda nvr done without the help of some vry good friends I <3 you all ^^
We built TP, spawned the NM then all used fully loaded spirits within's on it at once. It was dead in seconds. It has about 3k HP so 6 pallies can take it out.
OK I deleted Okasa...and now im a 58blm taru (KYX) bismarck~! wo0taru~...ok i dont get this side quest B.S. After talking to Chumimi, go trade some Silk cloth to Koru-Moru (E-7), in Windurst Walls. Now you will need to go to the Toraimarai Canal. You will have to pass the Magic Gate to enter. To do this, you need 3 types of Mage (BLM, RDM, WHM), or you can trade a Rolanberry to Kupipi (Heavens Tower) if you're past Mission 8 for a door Pass. ....whhaaaaaaaaaaaa silk cloth? hmm? O_o somone help meh out lol
so we had basically 10 blm's, and rdm, whm, and brd. we had a few more, but they left when we died before even getting through all the ???'s. I already had mine from my last failed attempt. Oh maybe I should mention how that went.
So there was this cock named Shinobi. There was this other cock too, but i forgot his name. Basically cock number 2 told cock number one that he'd pay for a tank. Then we finally got there, he got his stuff done so he could get his hat, and then told the group that he dind't want to pay and that everyone in teh group had to pay instead. so the Shinobi got all pissed b/c the group hadn't agreed to this before and so didn't want to do it, so Shinobi MPK'd us all. party broke up, end of story.
This time we all took turns spawning the thing and waited for it to despawn, took forever. We were planning on having blm/smn carby pull, brd sleep, and then we all AM at the same time. Well even though the bard had over 100 CHR, it wouldn't sleep. then it sleepga'd all of us. then most of us died though a few escaped out. Ok that's when my whm and rdm friends joined us. we all got R2's and got back to the NM spawn point.
this time we cleared out hte hallway, rested up, cleared out hte room (girtab last since it respanws rather quickly), rested up. everyone put sneak up and then we spawned it. Everyone started casting AM at the same time. Well not at exactrly the same time, which proved to be good. Hate keep moving everywhere an nobdy really got hit more than once. I'm not sure how many AM's everyone got off, but I did 4 (manafont halfway through of course). I think i did 4, though it might have died before the last went off. Anyway it died and we all got our last cutscene. So taht worked out really nice.
I tried this quest 2 times so far. 2nd time I had 12 people lvl 56-71. Problem is the organization and timing was off. Anyways... I was wondering if anyone on Unicorn server would mind helping me organize this quest. If so please MSG Wicket. Thanks in advance for your help.

I <3 Wizard's Petasos, just 8 levels to go ^_^; But anyhow, I think all of the blm AF pieces are great, except the Casting Wand........it sucks, as do most AF1's.
The second piece isn't all that useful to most BLM, for unless you PLD sucks big ass you shouldn't ever pull agro except with Anctients. (which should not be used in battle unless for a Renkei MB that finishes off the mob.)
And yes, I'm a THF and I know that. :P (damn taru's everywhere, haha)

I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to.
Any black mage out there *could* pull hate if they wanted, in my experience. The point in having lower enmity isn't really to lessen the chance that you'll pull hate so much as to allow you to do more without pulling hate. Paladins, and any other tank, can only keep so much hate. Any black mage out there knows quite well that it is as much their job not to pull hate as it is the paladin's job to keep hate. Thus, an items with enmity down make black mages better at their job.
This is much, much more noticable when the main tank is a non-paladin such as a warrior or ninja. Even as a red mage, I can pull hate from a ninja tank easily, so enmity down items would make life a lot easier.
How anyone manages to reach AF level without realizing how important hate management is is beyond me. Seriously, it's something BLMs should all have learned by level 10. ~_~;

Ahem. I'd rather have Def 11, extra 10 mp, be less likely to pull agro, have 3 to Agility, AND on the off chance I got hit at this point ... Spell Interuption Rate down 20%.
You might as well argue that BLM's don't need anything that gives Def. In theory ... sure, I'd agree with it. In practice ... LOL! Not all groups have a PLD in it, and even ones that do ... well, maybe I nuke better than most, cause I can pull agro whenever I want. That's how I save the WHM, afterall. And even saved a number of melee people too, when the WHM falls behind due to an absurd goblin bomb, or an exoray's vicious AOE, or ... whatever.

Okay I havn't played in a while but some friends were reminicing about coming back so i left off blm around 56 i think and was checking out the AF quests the above quote caught my attention, tell me if you think blm tank is impressive, have you ever SC with a SAM as BLM, then MB-ed off the SC you made?
The Wizard's Sabots are better than standard equipment at that level, but compared to my L29 Hume RSE boots (Def 5 MP+12 AGI+3 INT+3 HP+4 DEX-1 MND-1) they suck. For a Hume BLM, AF3 is the first useful piece.
