Hunter`s gloves
# Mar 09 2006 at 4:37 PM Rating: Decent
Myself as a hume use on my hands custom gloves, which give me +3 STR and +3 DEX, but im not sure if the +3 STR is worth the -1 AGI. Help from some expierenced player on this matter would be very much appreciated, since im confused, because its very common to see RNG walking on full AF.

these gloves arnt worth getting, but the AF+1 version (which i believe requires these first) is worth it due to it adding the possibility of a 7th barrage attack ^^
wear them
# Jul 24 2005 at 10:28 AM Rating: Default
you should wear these gloves for sure at lv 58 when you have your af body as thats an extra 10 ranged acc, so +2 ranged acc wnot be missed especially if ur using food
+10 dark

what I think alot of people arent seeing on these gloves are the dark element +10.

acid bolts and bloody bolts both draw strength from the dark element.

alot of mobs (bats, beetles) you will exp off of are dark based. which hurts the ability of these weapons. plugging a mob with an acid bolt will in term make as much if not more diffrence than +2 rAcc.

whenever using an acid or bloody bolt. you need the effect to fire so you can get back to normal DD ammo. the +10 dark would allow this to happen more efficently

Ummm, the elemtal stats on equipment to NOT affect offensive uses of them, only defensive.
So extra vs. drk, does nothing for dark attacks.

This is just plain untrue.

Elements affect many things, not just magic damage and resistance, but also resistance to certain enfeebles, and enfeebling chances. I believe there's even an NPC that will tell you this somewhere within the game. (Monbereaux's Clinic? Not sure...)

Yes, that's what he was saying. Those are DEFENSIVE uses. +10 dark resistance on equipment will give you more resistance to sleep, bio, drain, and any other dark-based enfeebles. But it won't help with the potency of your own dark-based stuff. It's dark resistance, not dark proficiency.

"It's dark resistance, not dark proficiency."

This is true. I ran around wearing a scarlet ribbon for much of my first few months of playing the game as RDM (otherwise known as my "nOOb period") thinking the stats would give me boosts to elemental nukes and such. No such luck. These stat icons can be a bit misleading at first glance to a beginning player.

In regards to the original post, there are many common endgame strategies involving Sky God battles that involve immobilizing a God as part of an overall battle plan (usually when the enemy invokes it's 2-hour). In these instances, macroing this gear and firing off your Shadowbind will extend the duration of your Shadowbind significantly, keeping the enemy at bay while its 2 hour expires, and buying time for melee to re-group and mages to rest MP a bit.

It's true that there are a number of better options for this gear slot for RNG, but if you intend to play RNG endgame as a valued contributing member of a linkshell, it is HIGHLY advised you have this gear as part of your inventory set, for this purpose if no other.

(besides ...it's FREE ...doesn't get much cheaper than that.)

If the thought of getting a group of 4 together to get through the banishing gate hell of G.C. is making you wanna ditch the quest (I feel ya...) I posted a guide on the new (well "new" as of this post date) alternate method to getting to the all the coffer spawn areas in G.C. solo now. See link below.

Macro for bind
# Jun 06 2005 at 9:36 AM Rating: Decent
These gloves are great when farming or just general play, but for exp parties, I prefer to use Noct+1 for the extra 2 r .acc. It may not sound like much, but if that +2 r.acc can let me land even one more sidewinder, and of course land a few extra arrows(for faster tp)... then it's definitely worth it! It's not like you'll be missing anything, since, as a Ranger, you're job is not to get hit anyway(which means you won't miss the added defense.

I have 2 Shadowbind macros, one that says "disengage & zone!!!"(in case of emergencies) and the other, just a silent one for me in case I pull to soon or we get a link etc. Both of these I macro my AF gloves in for. Generally I find that the shadowbind lasts longer on average when using the AF gloves, and that can save lives.
I hate this f#%@ing coffer

Does anyone know the precise nature of the enhacement? does shadowbind last longer? further targtting range? quicker release?
I dont get it

I really dont see how people can say that Noct gloves are better than these. The def sucks on noct and Ranged Acc +2 really doesnt make to much of a difference. I'm a 52 Galka Rng and i usually dont have trouble hitting anything my lvl or lower. And even if I do, +2 doesnt do much. I havent gotten the gloves yet, im about to go do it now tho, dam coffer is hard to find.
hrmmmm
# Dec 05 2004 at 3:07 PM Rating: Decent
i think i should stick with the noct gloves but im really tempted to just use these cuz they look kool, not to mention that it IS AF armor, hrrmmmmmm, what should i do?
Put 'em to good use.
# Nov 29 2004 at 6:41 PM Rating: Excellent
I'd say keep your gloves that you normally use on. then in your Shadowbind macro, equip them right before your ability. Like this:

/equip hands "Hunter's bracers"
/ja "Shadowbind" <t>
/wait 2
/equip hands "Noct Gloves +1"

This way you can still use them but for regular combat you've got your other gear which gives more then a couple bonuses in attributes that don't really affect us anyway.
wats betta

Ok...I am a 52 rng....completed AF1....and this fool Guslam still wont give me the quest. Whats wrong? Do i need to complete AF 2 and 3 before i can get this? And if thats the case....who do i talk to to get those quests?? This is really frustrating cuz everyone is telling me i should be able to get this quest....

YOu have to do the af for the Beret first. You get it from the Mithra in Windhurst the same one who gave you the bow quest!

You have to talk to Perih Vashai (rng flag quest npc) and and accept the AF quest she gives. Then Guslam will give you this quest.

Well, the defense isn't bad and the shadowbind helps if a mage gets aggro, but I think I'm going to stick with my Mage's Cuffs for now, they seem to be a bit more of a help.
