I finished getting the gloves, but have not gotten the pants yet or coat. Does anyone know if when I pop the coffers as my BLM will I still get the AF gear?

I was stupidly lucky on these today,
Me and two others a 70 PLD (Thank you Tsu) and a 64 DRK (Thank you Trinitie) went in and camped by the Lich C Magnus spawn point...

2 kills later the Key drops.

Trinitie runs about 10 yards to my left and the coffer spawns in front of her.

All in all in took me 10 Minutes to get my AF legs... easiest coffer run EVER.

This is nearly exactly what happened to me >.> Got the key on my 2nd kill and then I walked a few yards south and there it was. Easiest coffer ever. Hard to believe that this is considered one of the hardest coffer locations.

I did this quest without the bait but my fishing was 97 at the time. Caught all the fish while standing mere "feet" from where the quest originates. The new pole is awesome and if you are patient and fish in different spots you can get some rares.

Ok so my linkshell, oldbrownshoe, on asura, head to get myself and Santerias coffer key, and later chest.

we head down to the bottom floor, kill 3 fallens, and a coffer key drops, hooray! then.. the RDM goes to old hume bones 'just to check'.. and oh, theres a treasure chest.

took Santeria, our LSs BLM, 15minutes total to get a coffer key AND chest.

how lucky is that? its unbelievable.

I was almost that lucky last night. Unfortunately as I was about to pop the coffer another BLM appeared out of nowhere and got it first.

Then proceeded to train his aggros on my coffer key party. ;_;

No matter, I got lucky today: I actually soloed my way to the coffer. Considering all those switches, I count myself very lucky.
Got it!

Just got my Wizard's Tonban last night, getting XP and AF keys at the same time with my great static party. I *highly* recommend a 56+ party, which is what we were... XP won't be nearly normal xp-quality, but it beats spending hours just for a single key in a coffer party when you can get xp while you're at it.

Fought Tomb Mages and Warriors for key drops, Lich's when they were around so they didn't link, and a few Spriggans. (Easy enough to kill at this level, but still a slight challenge) Go for it, these pants are cool ^^

How To Get Pants
# May 17 2004 at 1:58 PM Rating: Excellent
First off, you must have BLM AF1-1 complete. Second you must have started BLM AF1-4(gloves quest) After that is all you have to do is go to the Eldieme Necroplis and obtain a coffer key and find the coffer chest. Once you open the chest you will get your pants. You do not have to talk to any NPC's. You just have to have the listed criterias complete.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 01 2004 at 2:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is incorrect. There is no quest to take, you must only open the Coffer in Eld. Necro. as a BLM.

Um.. that's exactly what he said.

You just have to have started the gloves quest first.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 03 2004 at 4:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) And that's exactly what he meant, you don't have to have the gloves quest started, just open the coffer as a blm.

You do need the gloves quest started before getting this coffer.

The Galka you talk to says there are old ancient superior armor hidden throughout Vanadiel, that's what you need to open the coffer and get your pants.

Talking to the Galka in the Armor Shop IS starting the gloves quest. Smiley: wink

And talking to the galka and STARTING YOUR AF GLOVES QUEST is what puts other AF in Coffers. If you don't talk to the galka to get your AF Gloves Quest started this coffer will not contain your AF. End of story.
Where do I start quest?
# May 14 2004 at 9:20 PM Rating: Decent
I have been thru every website and forum I could find and I am still unable to find out where and who starts this quest. PLS help ^^ I don't want to crack open the chest and get 5k or something stupid like that.
Hope this helps a little

I just got these last night. We camped Tomb Mages and Tomb Warriors, because they seem to be the easiest mobs who drop coffer keys. We got one off a Spriggarn, but DO NOT fight these. They hit HARD, and aren't worth the effort.

Go through the gate you go through to get to Batallia Island. We dropped in the hole just west of the hole you drop in to go to Batallia Island Far west/middle row hole). The spawn is kind of slow there, but 3 spawn, and it's not real dangerous, and you can pretty much pull to where you drop down safely. A haunt spawns, but if you run down the hall just a bit, you can pull safely from what we found.

It took us about 3 hours to get 4 coffer keys, so it wasn't horribly bad. I'd recommend a full group 58+ for these (at least the main tank and damage dealer), just to be safe. We had 8 people all 55-60, and we killed them easily, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If you have to escape, it's a long run back.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 30 2004 at 5:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) According to other sites, this Artifact Armor is attainable through Eldieme Coffer:

ya that infos WAY off. Tomb wolf and Uttuku drop Chest key not Coffer key. Yes it takes 2 55s to kill one ( probly less) but those arent the right monsters. ID recommend a pet for 55-60 AT LEAST to kill the mobs that drop the keys. Tomb mages, Tomg warriors, Haunts, and spriggans. Im sure there are 1 or 2 more but i cant remember them. Also, yo dont require an armguard from the coffer. You get the AF piece directly. The Old Arm guard is from the garlaige coffer nd is part of the coffer quest that requires you to kill dark spark in castle Zvahl Baileys.

There's not really a quest for it, exactly. You just have to have at least the AF2 quest accepted and have also accepted the quest for the gloves from Guslam in Upper Jeuno. Once you have accepted this quest (which will show up as Boghartz Sorcererous Hands in your quest log), then you will be able to open up your coffer chest in Necro.
