looking through what some of hte prices are, I think I got lucky or something.

Bought one recently to use with my 56RNG (3 more lvls till I can equip it).

Well, I was able to get one for 10k... Also bought a Sargna and Vampire boots.

Hopefully I'll be testing them out soon.

The Good:
+2 INT
+25MP

The Bad:
-2 VIT
-30 Fire

The Ugly:

You nuke more powerfully, for longer, and for that you will get hit harder. This can be nullified by simply having a good tank, so long as you don't over-nuke. The -30 fire really hurts when it comes to bomb tosses. At this level, if a gob drops the bomb at 85%+ health, it can wipe most the party, and if you're in range, and wearing this, without barfira, no chance of survival.

So, have a good tank, and stay out of bombtoss range, and you're golden, this is good blm equipment.

could anyone help me out with linking a better front-on pic of this? i'd like to see the details on the neck and chest better for a costume. i had some, but my harddrive died so i lost all my screenshots. i'd go in game and track someone down for some new ones, but i canceled my account a few months ago >.> a back view would be awfully nice too ^^;

What is the best choice?

My THF is level 56 as at 1/6/2005. After getting the 3 AFs, I look forward to getting the Rogue's Vest. I know that the body AF should be got by opening treasure coffer in Castle Zhval. However, is it worth that I go to get the body AF at my own risk, or buying this cotehardie?

Anyone has suggestion to me?

THF AF body and hat (imo) is worthless in exp parties. I only wear the pants and hands during exp parties.
Hat(turban):emp hairpin or even a noct beret is better.
Body(boytoy vest):black cote, aketon, scorp harness, brigadine+1.
Boots:winged boots(leeping boots) are still better, though THF AF boots are good to switch in with your flee macro.
Hands:switch between AF hands and battle gloves if you need added acc.

All in all, THF AF is good for maybe solo and quests (what AF was made for anyhow) - just don't show up to an exp pty in full green getup, youll lower the reputation of all thieves out there.

I don't think so ~ anything that gives you negative MND prolly isn't worth it. At this level you want to quest your briault or use justaucorps

recipe
# Mar 01 2005 at 10:34 PM Rating: Decent
I was wondering if this can be synthesized by having only leathercraft leveled, it says it can be synthesized in alchemy and clothcraft too so im wondering if i need to level those to be able to synthesize this. thanks ^^;
RE: recipe
# Mar 17 2005 at 9:28 AM Rating: Decent
yes, it requires all three, the numbers posted are the skill level at which you no longer recieve skill ups. What you can do is look at the skill lvl for each the items used and base you estimate of req. min lvl for others synth.

If you only get one, get the scorpion harness, but if you can afford both, theng get both and macro in the cote for SATA. I would leave scorpion harness on for SATA + dancing edge though

I'm very torn between this and the Aketon +1 for my thief. Reasonably, I know that the cotehardie has marginally better stats:
3 str
2 dex
3 agi
-25 hp
-30 fire! (As if goblin bombs and self-destructs didn't already mess me up.)
various other inconsequentials.
220k

vs 7 agi
7 evasion.
various other inconseuqentials.
300k

Now agi is useless when soloing as a thief (no trick attack), and dex and str are always handy, but ugh. I'm a level 60 mithra thf/nin and I've been hovering near 1,000 HP for what seems like ages. Now I'm going to get ANOTHER -25 hp and still not get my 1k HP for another 2 levels? >.<

Actually, the AGI is more useful while soloing. AGI adds a negligible amount of damage to Trick Attack, but makes a much more noticeable impact on evasion, lessened chance of getting critically hit, and ranged accuracy.

There is no question, the Black Cotehardie beats the pants off of the Aketon/Aketon+1 for partying. +3 STR and +2 DEX make more impact on your overall damage than +7 AGI. The hit to HP and Fire resistance is nothing to worry about. Look at the equip of any good THF in the level range for wearing this, and they're either wearing Black or Flora Cote for XPing. Aketon is for soloing.

Also, the Aketon is ugly as hell. What's wrong with the people who keep saying how "sexy" it looks? Put your contacts in. :P

Heh, Aketon is ugly as hell, but so is this thing in my opinion. Not that I can afford either of them at the moment...

For walking around though I'll just stick to my AF even once I buy this and use it for XPing.
not bad

would this be good for a ranger of is the AF better?
RE: ??
# Dec 04 2004 at 7:35 AM Rating: Decent
The AF body for a ranger would be way better. If I'm not mistaken, RNG AF Body gives ranged acc +10 and that would be the main difference right there

Costly?
# Mar 09 2004 at 11:37 AM Rating: Default
Nyah :P It's worth every penny. As for expenses of making it, only the Marlboro Fiber is hard to come by, the rest isn't really that expensive (and prices are dropping as we speak). The only reason Marlboro Fiber is expensive is it's ONLY dropped by Genbu (lvl 80 HNM in Ru'Aun Gardens).

Additonally, the Blue Cotehardie is the exact same formula, except one more ingredient, Beetle Blood. (Which, btw, is dropped by Seiryuu, one of the same as Genbu.)

Oh, and to it's usefullness. First off, badass stats to help in exp groups. Second, sub RDM and become farming/camping/hunting god. (Add Electrum rings for giggles) 25 MP makes a nice difference, if you add the Electrum Rings you have +65 MP.
