Yes I do remember when SH was much more expensive. Sucks because I paid about 6 mil for mine, and now on my server (Odin) this is barely 200k. Wish I had the difference now back from what I paid then, that would rock.

less than 200k on some servers... it's about 200k right now on Shiva.. but you can't really compare because back when gear like a Noble's Tunic was 12 million, 12 million gil was a lot more attainable than it is now.. just like real world economy, money changes lol
The -Ice defense on this makes it somewhat of a bad idea for tanking Shiva Prime. I've done the fight with three different NINs, all 75, all wearing this, and all of them were killed by Diamond Dust...even with Barblizzara up. Take care!

As for all those who complain about farming or got issues about people who actually got gil to spend...most of us played 2-3 years and earned it. Gil comes with time put into the game no matter what u do. AH values increasing and decreasing is like a stock market... buy low sell high. That pretty much is what happened to all the old players who remember stuff like leaping boots for 200k and sh*t. Also crafting, BCNMs, NM hunting, and group farming/spliting all work too. If you think crafting dont pay the bills anymore... your crafting the wrong things. Gil is not in making weapons and armor unless your hqing it. the Gil is in the perishable items such as food, medicines and synthing crafting supplies for other people. Are you a noob and looking to make some gil? farm highlands. Beechips and sheep skins.
Heres a tip for all you noobs out there.... Sheep Leather is a lvl 2 synth.... so anyone can make it from the get go. Head to highlands with a bunch of windy tea leaves, dark crystals, and distilled water and synth some sheep leather every skin that drops. You really want to make gil?? Dont use that sheep leather gil for savings.. instead dedicate it all to leather craft and get leather to about 30 then go back to highlands and start farming the RAMs to. Ram leather is lvl 35... you can start skilling it at 30 and make some gil doing it to.
Dont bitch about what other people have.... if u gotta sit there and complain about other people having everything and u having nothing... then why are you playing the game? lol. This is suppose to be for fun, if a game stresses you then quit >.>

Ok... #1 STFU (Rateup ^.^), your getting on everyones nerves already!(Rateup ^.^)
#2 FARM YOU LAZY MF'ers! (Rateup ^.^)
If the idea of getting your rear out of Lower Jeuno AH, into a Pashow farming spot doesn't appeal to you, compare and check what can be farmed/camped easily, and what it sells for. THEN GET YOUR BUTT OUT THERE FARMING/CAMPING!!
E.g: i) Beastman blood > Stack sells for like 100k Silk Thread > Stack sells for 60kish Beehive Chips > Sells for 25kish
A good 2hrs farming in Full moon, and you can make ATLEAST 200k.
ii) Enk. Bracelets > Sells for about 1-2mil.
About every 2 hrs, Enkelados will spawn. This mob (For me atleast) has an absolutely sh*te drop rate... But, when you get it, you make 10 times more than you would farming. So, in theory, you could spend anywhere below 20 hours (10 spawns) camping this guy, and make more than you would farming.
For me... I'd rather be doing something for 10hours and getting a constant stream of gil, than waiting 2hrs at a time for 10hrs for some fugly gigas to pop and probably not get the drop. Do the math kiddies.. (Rateup ^.^)
You only get as much from life as you put in.. same goes for FF.
Sure, these items are expensive, but seriously... If you want something, and if its gonna help you in the game, Do something about it, Go Farm/Camp/Mine/Log/Harvest/Dig/Craft/Sell your body(Rateup ^.^)/Tele-whore(Rateup ^.^)/PL-whore(Rateup ^.^)...
BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE MUST YOU BUY GIL!(Rateup ^.^)
Why waste more money than you need to on something thats going to just shut down eventually? If you can justify buying gil to yourself, then you're either totally wacko, or just plain stupid..(Rateup ^.^)
I agree with some of what you say but its not as simple as you make out yeh go out and farm ok so your talking about drop rate on enk but normal drop rate sucks just as bad.
i farm all the time in marshes for bee chips silk thread beatsman blood and moss with sometimes getting tree cuttings but there in itself lie a prob these drops should be 100% no question but se like to scew u over on top of that you have other players farming and prtying there.
So its not as easy then and thats just that area most areas i have farmed are the same.I was farming today in fact 1hour later i have 6 silk a stack of beast blood 3 moss 1 tree cutting and a stack and a half of beechips i must have killed about 600 mobs as my bst 57 and me and my pet killed most mobs in 2 or 3 hits and thats all i get for an hours work.
Surely you agree se dosnt make it easy.

I am with you on this 100%. People are so damn lazy it makes me sick. I'm an xbox 360 player who's been playing since the beta release for 360 back in January. That's a mere 7 months but it hasn't stopped me from picking NIN as my first main job, it hasn't stopped me from having AND USING all my ninjitsu spells, it hasn't stopped me from wearing the best equipment I could have at my level (with the exception of O. Kote) and guess what! It's not stopping me from buying one of these by the end of the week =D Now I understand that some people just plain suck at finding ways to make money but what's ironic to me is that it seems like most of the people who bitch about being poor are the people who don't even try!!! If you want something bad enough get off your ass and work for it!
for some unknown reason i have an urge to give you a rate up...
so i did ^^
im way overdue for my SH, never had time to sit around farming for money so i got what i could equipment wise. but now i have time and im doing my damn best to get one.
If you see a Taru walking down the street and think to yourself A)Hmmm.. I haven't punted anything lately.. B) Mmmm roast Taru-kabobs.. C) Hey uh.. Can you /panic for me!! Then beware.. Ultra Super MechaTaru is coming for you!
I normally feel more inclined to rate down people who ask for rate-ups.. it seems kind of desperate. But because he was 100% correct, he gets a happy neutral ^^;

Oh well it's not hard to make 8mill for a SH
(Gil buyer stamp.) (You can have this.) Now please... If you think this item is not worth 8mill like me... Raise cooking or get a friend who can make you pumpkins...
To any thf entertaining the idea of jack-o-lanterns to replace an SH:
Jack-o-lanterns offer a healthy -10 emnity. Great if you're a mnk. Terrible if you're a thf. TA places your emnity onto the tank, it's not just for the big numbers... -10 emnity means it's that much easier for tank to lose hate. If a thf uses this in an XP pt they aren't doing their job ^_^.
Umm just because some people can make a couple mil in a day doesnt mean their a gil buyer its called saving your beasty seals for bcnm's is my quickest way also farming and nm's come to mind, im pretty sure its due time to cash in some of my two stacks of beasty seals ^^
ok, but why waste your food slot on a Ogre Pumpkin? you could equip this, eat some taco(PLD) chiefkabob(DD) or just about any other random crap you feel like, without carrying round non-stackable pumpkins for the +10acc and eva that could be replaced with some stackable att+ food on top of the +10aac and eva from the SH
just my opinion.. not trying to start flaming wars or anything -.-
yay this armor is godly, i never get hit as my thf when i wear :O and i never miss and i am an elvaan o.o; thanks to my g/f ^_^. i now own a hauby and a SH, next is a Byrnie (ironicly close to my rl and in game name o.o) ^^ sorry for random thread, just to add this armor is needed, it just helps alot^^
First of all, I want to say that I've wanted one of these since I first saw one of the (then rare) people wearing one in Jeuno waaaaay back when I was lv. 20, and had just arrived there for the first time. The person who guided me to Jeuno, Rockcrusher, told me that the guy paid a whopping 5 MILLION for one. And I was like "oooooh, I'll NEVER have that much money."
Well, with the price on Titan currently bouncing back and forth between 6.3 and 7 million, I thought I'd be able to buy one from AH with 6.4 million, which was the most money I've EVER HAD and likely will ever have. I did not buy it. I did not kill one of your fancy NMs for it. I FARMED for it, yes that's right, the little poor guys like me who work a 40 hour a week job CAN earn millions. It took me almost 3 months of straight farming and not partying, but I thought I had it in my hands. But then "Nightweaver was unable to buy the scorpion harness for 6,400,000 gil."
So I was crushed, but then, I shout in Jeuno for someone to give a guy a little break (read: bargain), and lo and behold a 75 WHM trades me one for 6.4 mils. I slip my 75 DRK body into one and, and...
Holy crap I did it. :O I bought a scorpion harness legally, and with only simple crafting like silent oils and beeswax.
I know this doesn't make me "pimp" or suddenly make me a better player, but this thing is THE macguffin I have been working for since I started playing back in '04. And I'd like to thank everyone on Titan server for supporting me and cheering me on. I did it guys.
Just wanted to say that on Caitsith, the price of a NQ SH is between 7-7.5 mil, and the last price for the HQ was 15k. I've been saving up for about a month, and I can almost afford the NQ (if I don't slurge on a Woodsman ring). Now to be the only Samurai on my server with a SH (and to be told I'm stupid for not buying a Hauby!).

I just started to get into crafting and want to make a scorpin harness ummmm does ur leather have to be 35 as a sub craft jus to make it? Im confused :( only level and hunt NMs i dont craft at all first time crafting and to make scorpin do u need to have some amount of guild points?and is bonecraft cheap in your guys opinion?
I don't mean to sound like a noob, but I will be starting the game over fairly soon. I was kind of planning out what I wanted to do, and my friend who still played IM'd me telling me about economy problems. At its level, do you think that a NIN really NEEDS this gear to be accepted by his peers?
so a BLM in my LS asked if anyone needed KCNM30, and i had 54 seals hangin around and wanted a V Claw, so i decided to give it a try. got in, a BLM d/ced, the 4 continued like normal. first cast, 2 cast -ga spells 2 sleep them. second cast all 4 use -ga spells, so 1 BLM dies, luckily im a 74 PLD and have my 2 hour ready. in the end i get V Claw(6.5 mil), O Ingot(1 Mil), beetle blood(150k), and darksteel ore(35k). only gotta pay 4 BLMs and now i get my harness made ^^. i guess this was my V Claw day, cause i saw King Vinagerroon this morning ^^.

question... why the hell would you want this crafted for you PLD!!! When is the last time a mob has missed you for one and there is much better armor you can wear for more def WHEN you get hit.
Just got mine on Ifrit for 12million down from 16 for 1 day before it shot back up to 15..nice showoff item, dont wast your time and gil unless your very board or very rich....wish i had been the latter >.<..
Leather is 35, so unless you took leather up to 88+ first and got all 3 guild items before taking bone up, you can't get into the 31 HQ tier. If you did that, and had bone at 100, and then got leather advanced support, then you got a shot at the SH HQ...

Hmmm ... can't edit. Alternative for Tier 2 HQ possibility:
Get bone to 97 and have all three guild items (effective level 100, or 69 +31), get leather to 63 and use advanced leather support (effective level 66 (or 35 +31)... in either case, good luck!!!
Edit: Oh, and now for theory (can't test since not playing): earth crystal, wind strong to earth:
Overwhelming earth energy in MH. Would try for HQ on new moon 1 or wax gib 2 (windday is offday for addl wind = strong to crystal support; per hints in TreasureHunter's moon analysis), on earthday (success strength--got to have some element helping success), facing wind direction (strong to crystal). To be done at (game time) 2:00-2:30, 5:00-5:30, 10:00-10:30 (etc., wind times in 48 part day per Eruntalon). [See Edit Note below]
That covers MH, support, moon, direction, day, time of day..what did I forget??? Note that I have somewhat arbitrarily decided on a ration of 3:1 of (a) strong to crystal for HQ, to (b) same as crystal for success. Note also that if you are going to try this, would strongly suggest finding a much lower, cheaper double tier 2 HQ and test it around 20 times before giving any credence to my thoughts on how to meet or beat the 25% tier 2 chances with minimized breakage odds.
Would love to see any comments or even better yet, reports of results on this theory.
Edit Note: TreasureHunter advises that the times originally figured out by Eruntalon are not accurate, but also advises that time of day (if you can figure out what time period(s) correspond with what element) is one of the most critical factors in HQ...

After two trys on KSNM30, I got lucky and got venemous claw! Scorpion Harness was about 13million, but I'm glad I got mine crafted. SH was 26million for about one to do days, but now is about 15~17million.
Pieces of armor like the Scorpion Harness and Vermillion Cloak etc. aren't meant to be owned by everyone. The reason they keep getting more expensive is because people keep getting more gil, be it from farming, BCNMs, crafting, or busting out their credit card on IGE. The bottom line is that unless you want this piece soo bad that you are willing to farm for countless hours, days, and weeks to get it you do not deserve one. It is that simple. I'm just getting tired of everyone saying "Gilsellers/buyers are the cause of every financial problem in the game." Items like the SCorpion Harness are expensive because not everyone is meant to have one, and if you cannot cope with the fact that you can't have every piece of gear you want you should just quit the game now.
It's not so much that this is an issue of gilsellers/buyers causing financial problems (because you're blind and naive if you think that they don't) because all it takes to drive up prices are greedy players. Given, SE set up some pretty hefty requirements for a Lv 57 body piece (Venomous Claws drop off of Genbu and Suzaku? Good call!), but I'm not really concerned so much about the importance of this gear as I'm concerned about people much like you who obviously have no tolerance for people who are unable (or unwilling) to spend months seeking out equipment with a cost that is quickly outstripping the value.
-You- seem to be one of those who cannot cope with people who don't have the highest quality in gear and I think it's incredibly unfair to expect someone their first time around to snatch up one of these or a Hauby or a Byrnie right when they hit the level. I'd never condone gilbuying or selling, but there is something you've forgotten in the cloud of arrogance that surrounds your Lv 75 head: at nearly 20 levels lower, people are *gasp* weaker than you. It's hard enough to farm, it's time-consuming enough to craft, and it's three times more expensive now than it was when you got one. It drives me up the wall when I farm for days and weeks and into months for something, only to walk up to the AH and see I come short because of another price jack, yet all you do is level a finger at me and say "You don't deserve this." I'm getting tired of people like you who refuse to see that you're as much a part of the problem because you guilt trip people all the more into buying these things. And it's people like you that make me entertain the idea that I never want to be Lv 75 so I never become like you. So knock off the backhanded comments and the spineless attacks at people who aren't as good at farming as you are and remember back to that lower-leveled time you were completely overwhelmed by what you had to get.
74THF Don't play enough to get a SH. Use a Black Cotardie (cost a whopping 300k) Solo'd Aquarius @ 73 Solo'd Cancer+link surrounded by Haunts @ 74 Solo'd Mysticmaker @ 63 blah blah blah.
Just cause something's expensive, doesn't make it essential. I'm an elvaan thf btw and can get a 95% hit accuracy without the Harness just fine, all this stupid cotardie do is bust me through the next sa/ta tier...damn it sucks XD
Thank you. It took me forever to farm for my Haubergeon, and now I don't think I could cope with trying to get the gil to afford it now. I agree with the want to not be one of the high-level snobs.
Deathfrance, in the terms of FFXI, you have been owned(pawned), now please uninstall the game^^

Is it really worth it?? I'm a level 50 thief Elvaan Male. I have acc and dex up through equ. and food, so I rarely miss. My friend is nearly commanding me to get this, but I'm not so sure. I think that a Rapparre's Harness would be better for Gaining TP then switching to AF Body for SA once I get it. Please let me know, so I know how much to farm after I get ninja to level 30. ALSO lol if anyone in Leviathan server has one they would like to give to me if I do need it, donations are heartily accepted XD.
4% haste is good and all but just if you miss those extra 4 hits out of every 100 hits then did that 4% haste realy help you at all?
But yeah SH is realy a luxury item, it is great yes, but do you absolutely need it? Hell no. Will you beable to function and be a good asset to your party with out one? Hell yeah.
One thing anyone reading this might want to look into: Farm while lfg. Put warp: jeuno in your comment and warp back as soon as someone invites you.
Chances are before long you will accumulate enough gil to buy one (assuming you dont farm something like copper ore). :D
Also set goals. Ex: By the end of today i will make another xxx gil. Or each week i will set aside enough time to farm xxx gil. May seem like alot of gil but its realy not that hard, just stick to your plan and you will get there. :D

I haven't been on recently (1 day. Haha) to check the prices. But a Haubergeon on Asura is going for roughly 22-26 Million Gil. That's the NQ version. Nobody sells the HQ, unless it's to themselves. Scorpion Harness is right up there with it, last I checked.
