Regardless of whether he's lying or not (and honestly, he's not going "OMFG YOU WON"T BELIEVE THIS HOLY $#!+" so I tend to disbelieve too), however that kind of thing does on occasion happen. if there's enough stock in AH, I have seen people put things in for 1 gil, both to save the tax and get their's sold first. The odds that someone is going to start bidding at 1 gil or 1000gil, or even 100,000 gil, on an item that goes for 1mil, is remote, but sometimes people do it just to check, and get lucky. it's happened to me a couple of times. I was buying the level 36 mnd+3 ring (forget what it's called), and going rate was around 100k. I'm low on cash but have almost that much, so I figured i might get lucky and get it for a bit less. First, for the hell of it, I tried 10k... and got the ring. Also, Utsusemi Ni's going rate is 600-700k on Garuda, I started bidding at 300k and won. I also have a feeling I could have started lower and still won >.>;;.

Just remember, it can happen.
