Do these sell well? I can't find anything else to get me past 60. Venom potions don't work so well yet and I'm not leveling Bonecraft for Sleep Bolt Heads.

the level that these cap at is the maximun skill level you can get from recipe. These can be made at 58 alchemy and 8 smithing if youve passed the cap test for both. they do not get used on every hit they are a random useage item in combat

These things are pretty much useless because you have to use one per hit you initiate on an enemy. Pretty much a waste of money in my eyes!

How was this synth possible?

Please guys help me to understand somethin.... Im a lvl 61 alchemist with a smithing skill of 14 and I successfully made 99 batteries with this recipe... how is this possible at my smithing level? I didnt even gain skill though I did synth it on firesday facing NE (Fire). Call me crazy but I wasnt aware this was possible whatsoever.

I belive that this recipe is only a smithing level of 15-18 because of the tin smithing component. Because tin-making is a lvl 15 smithing synth using components run only about 5 pnts higher the 56 smithing cap is impossibly high.

Well, this is my exp on sync. on something that need 2 craft skills.

if one of the craft skill already capped/passed over, while the other skil is not... u can still make the sync work... and u will also gain skill on 'the other' craft skill (the low/not capped).

if one of the skill is too low lv u might fail the sync.
as for this case, u have both skill off 4-5 lv. til capped.
so.. I would said keep making these u will see that both skill will gain some point up!!

try it.. u'll see

FYI, it's 'synth', not sync.

Synth = synthesis, what you're doing.

My question is why thunder, water, and wind... Why no weapons that use fire enchantment, or Ice and such? Or better yet, SE making these weapons only require that you have the item equipped and not use one up every successful hit! I would think that would be more worthwhile than having to spend gazillions of gil just to buy them...sadly my opinions really mean nothing in the end...

Fire and Ice are usually innate on the weapon, no extra item is required

The Cermet Chunk is what runs this way up the scale on the Alchemy. Tin Ingots are also a level 15 cap on the Smithing area.

The #'s for building seem right.

Looks like some noob shooting off his mouth (or text...). Stupid people should have their posting rights revolked.

Dragoons are consistent damage dealers. They may not have the impressive bursts of damage like: "OMG I just hit this monster for 500+!" or anything, but their high accuracy combined with the high damage of polearms makes them a useful member of any party. Plus their pets aren't half bad, you can always use and extra meleer.

Heh, I love it. I was running around with a Spark Bilbo as a blm the other day. Just one question: How the heck am I hitting consistantly (on ep-dc) when I have NO sword skill? Does dex account for that much of accuracy? I thought skill played a larger part.

Edit: A bit of experamentation between staff and "Small Sword" has me hitting more consistantly with the sword than the staff. Not extensive testing, mind you, but three or four fights against DC with each weapon...

Batteries are stackable up to 99. You equip them in your ammo slot, and they are used for any weapon that says "Additional effect w/ Battery equipped:". This means, that every time the Additional Effect activates, one battery is consumed. The more powerful batteries last through multiple uses, depending on which you use, but they also hold a higher level requirement to equip them.

I think that the Battery activates a special ability. It does an amount of lightning damage depending on what type of battery it is (hence the higher-level batteries have greater effects) but you have to have a spark weapon ("Spark Dagger" for example) equipped to activate the effect. It's the same as casting Enthunder.

The Hydro weapons and the Water Barrels are the same, with an Enwater effect.

I dont know about 3 types of batteries but there are Batteries and Mega Batteries.

The weapons when using the Battery will give a spark charge every so often and use a Battery per spark.(Not sure with the Mega Battery though)

Sort of like Enthunder, but not on every attack.

Anywise, the damage is not that much with a Battery(6-10 damage is all)

And on a bad side, you have to put these into your ammo slot.

This means that you cannot have a Bow or Boomerang equiped while using a Battery.

Unless the Spark effect is enhanced or unless the Batteries last longer then one usage, then this is a worthless addition IMHO.

Might be usable if you have infinite gil and infinite space on your character and you need a special weapon for something.

But otherwise...these spark weapons blow chunks.

Being a DRG/WAR, I can't put anything in my ammo slot anyway soooo. At lvl 15 and a spark spear +1 with battery I can do some serious damage. 40 for base + 25 for additional = 65. When timed with a jump + 40 it comes to 105 hp of damage for a lvl 15 pc. I'm sold on the spark spear. BTW, it has the same damage as the standard spear for the level so I don't think I lost anything by buying a spark spear.

well if you were a dragoon-you'd know that you have slim to nil when it comes to equiping ranged weapon s (unless your a fisherman) and that many polearms make use of the spark feature-therfore making it much more useful
Battery Weapon
# Feb 06 2004 at 6:44 PM Rating: Default
Battery is "ammo" for certain equipment that uses it.

The spark biblo as an example, deals an additional 25 electrical damage per battery used, on top of the regular damage you do with the sword. Hence, pretty powerful stuff, but way in short supply and overpriced.
Usage
# Feb 05 2004 at 4:27 PM Rating: Default
The going rumor is that people using battery powered equipment do A LOT of damage and that is probably the reason for the high cost of a stack of batteries. Its no different than a stack of bullets costing a lot.

someone posted this in the craft forums here at Alchemy 56-59 Battery = Water + Copper ingot + Tin ingot + Cermet Chunk + Rock Salt + Lightning cluster + Dis. Water (BSmithing also)

I would assumes its 56-59alchemy and 56-59 blacksmithng. And that lightning cluster is rather curios, might be why 99 are 30k on AH (plus from the lvl required)

clusters are not used in crafting to my knowledge...

If you go to item menu and click on a cluster and hit use the only thing that happens is you break the cluster into a stack of crystals.

Its interesting that so little is know about these. i own the "spark spear" and it does say that a battery will add thunder damage. i checked the history of the bastok AH on pandemonium and only 1 had ever sold for 500. this was not a 99 stack.

i figure that as long as no one knows about these batteries or how to make them that people can get away with charging 30k for them. so lets find a recipe!

nothing more then a guess but i figure that lightning crystals have something to do with the sysntesis of this item.

I have heard that it takes a lvl 63 skill in goldsmithing t make a battery from sevral difrent people who have them up for sale in the Juno AH.
But i have not heard what matirals are used to make them. They sell for 30K for a stack of 99 lvl 10 ones on Ifrit and i have seen one of each that has benn put up for sale at each of the difrent AH's and then bought back by the same person so my guess is they were trying to establish a price :((a very high price in my oppinon). So it can be done we just have to find out what we need people. Pull out you detective kits and start looking :)

# Jan 13 2004 at 1:24 AM Rating: Good
from what i have seen, there are 3 types of batteries, lvl 10 batteries, lvl 30 kilo batteries, and lvl 50(not sure on this oen) mega batteries,

fraid to say i havent seen any of these in the 3 nation's AHs, but there are usually a bunch of the higher level ones in jeuno's AH, as for the level 10 batteries, they sell in stacks of 99, and for about 30k+ on Caitsith

as for how they are used, from what i have heard(havent gotten a chance to test this) they use one charge/battery per strike(a bit pricey, at 300 gil a shot) but they seem to also be pretty good damage.

not sure how to obtain these, only hints ive heard is that they take high alchemy skill to make(This is Strictly by word of mouth, no idea if its true)
