got this a couple years ago when i solo the NM with SMN (kited Shii for about an hour with it's super high regen at night). didn't really use it a lot back then. but recently with pole grib, askar body and head, Byakko pants and swift belt, it's really starting to shine. i would go to campain with SAM/WAR and just smack away. i personally like this one better then Soboro and think it's a pretty nice upgrade at that level ^^

edit: almost forgot, even with /NIN or /RNG, the double attack rate is still pretty decent with the above setup if u care to know.

why is there 2 mobs that drop this 1 weapon?

the every 100 hits u 1 more is true but in theory its 1% more on each swing so for each of those 100 swings its possible that that 1% percent kicked in each time (keyword possible not probible) which would mean that u could possible hit 100 more times for 100 normal swings. once again very inprobable but just saying that the 1% is present every swing which means if your not subbing it u have chance every swing not just adding 1 out of 100 swings.

If your already subbing war then it just increases the chances.

Beat Shii the other day for this while we down there for Jelly Ring. It is a Lottery Spawn, took 45 min of killing Garms untill Shii pop. The fight was hard, but maybe cuz we had 2 Garms POP and Add. Party was (66 SAM, 62 PLD, 75 PLD, 75 BLM, 64 NIN, 62 BLM, 64 WHM, 66 DRK). Shii has to have at least 15-20K Health, I did Tachi: Gekko for 576 on him and the dent his Health Bar showed was as if I did a regular Hit to an IT Mob. Fight took bout 20 min in total with the Adds. I would recomend keeping the Tunnel near his room cleared so you can pull him back into it and stay clear of Garm adds.

Also i hear other SAM's on my server say they have either killed with no drop, Died trying, or never got him to pop. Dont give up this GK is def worth it I Double Attack almost 3 times more then I used to now.

so it means that instead of hitting 100times ull hit 101 ( and unless have good +acc will miss that hitm)

This item gives double attack +1%.

It does not say "Multiplies by 1.01."

Therefore it gives you a 1% chance of double attacking.

While those of you taking the 0*1.01= are right about the math, you're wrong about the concept and which equasion to use.


0% + 1% = 1%.

An item that ADDS 1% will give you the effect.

if you see this, be sure to attack it ASAP. A few friends of mine were camping it and it spawned. They weren't ready and after 30 seconds it just despawned. So be quick or you gotta wait all over again.

I know someone asked something similar, but I want to be clear. Will using this katana give occasional double attacks, even without a warrior sub-job?

all the other sites i've looked at list this as Rare/ex and it drops of a NM called Shii (a hound) in Bostinious Oblioutt (sp).

double attack +1 % means that a samuria/bst, with no double or triple attack, will now do what a war or thf does, hit twice every once in awhile.
