the only way that taking green ribbons that high would be cheaper is if you saved all of your silk cloth. If you didnt, this is an awesome way to go past that. They are cheap (except when 2 nations are tied for first. which happened to me conveniently when i was on this phase) like someone said earlier is that breaks arent as devastating if you lose a feather or 2, and 3 fletchings are the way to go in clothcraft to get about 10 lvls really fast.

COPIED FROM TRADE SKILL FORUM:

flamedust wrote:
sorry for my poor English, hope you can understand what I'm asking. @.@

I've just passed the silk road and got my clothcraft 65, can't wait till I get to 72 and begin my rainbow road. I followed CometNet's Clothcraft Guide V3.0 almost all the way ( except that I took Yagudo Fletchings to 23), I'd say it's really a great guide!

But...

It says that I should go for Battle Bracers at lv65, the recipe is earth crystal + Saruta Cotton x2 + Velvet Cloth x2 + Silk Thread .let's count: we can just ignore the cost of crystals at this step, saruta cotton x 2 = 500 x 2 , velvet cloth x 2 =
4500 x 2, silk thread = 1.5 k on my server. It costs over 10k per synth. and if I sell the battle bracer to NPC at 4300 gil, I'll loose 6k every synth.

There is another lv72 cap recipe: wind + Black Chocobo Feather x 2 = 6 Blk Chocobo Fletchings. wind crystal cost 200gil, Black Chocobo Feather costs 1.13k each in the chocobo stables of windurst this week ( windy is the most powerfull now), only 2.5k per synthesize. I don't really know how much I can sell them to NPC, but even if I throw away all my Fletchings, it still costs 3.5k fewer than the bracers. And 6 fletchings cost 1k ~ 1.5k in our server, woodworkers will buy them to make demon arrows, if I could save all of them and sell them slowly, it means I only spend 1.5k on every synthesize.

Not wanna be rude, but can anyone tell me am I wrong or just the guide has a mistake?

Rare is the skillup recipe that doesn't create loss.
I went Black Choco all the way up to 72.

The reasons I did this are as follows....
Choco flethlings are a used in a skillup recipe for woodworking.
They are cheaper to buy.
The recipe is simple.
A failed synth is drastically less loss than with Battle Bracers.
They stack.
They sell fast in Sandy.

Some tips...
If you don't have yourself a mule yet and are serious about crafting, get your first mule and set him up in Sandy. Hell be your Black Choco fletchings bitch until your done with this phase. Send him all your Fletchings and he will sell them for you. Youll break about even.

Second of all, you said you're from windy......GET YOUR WINDY FAME UP. 1.13k means your fame is lvl 2 or 3. Come now young grasshoppa...you could be getting these feathers way cheaper. May I suggest in the mean time having a friend with max fame buy them for you?

You mentioned that you wont need to include crystal costs in your synths. I do the same thing. I don't include that number because crystals are so abundant. BUT, buying them on the AH is a sure fire way to make your loss fraction go up.

Grab your BST job and farm your crystals. I say that BST is the ultimate crafting job because you get to keep all the drops. It's like having an infinite supply of free crystals.

The Black choco road is easy.

EDIT: When to start the rainbow road? Take the Black Chocos to 72 and don't stop a second sooner. Then when it is finally time to start the rainbow journy of fun, you will not break much at the stat and skill ups should be plentiful. Again, BST is a great job to have leveled here. I wish mine was high enough. The spiders that drop spider webs are an XP mob for around 63 BST. My BST friend who is lvl 64 now has estimated that he has sold 110 spider webs on the AH all which he obtained through the course of normal XP.

EDIT2: I dont think our beloved guide has made a mistake. I think when it was written that Battle Bracers was the right route to take up through 72 but with the changes to tradeskill item prices the Black Choco feather recipe is a god send to crafters who have managed to beat out the silk road. When you get to 72...look around for the cloth crafters you saw creeping on the come up. As the guide says regarding the silkroad, most of your competition has dropped out. You should get to know the crafters who have stuck through it. You need a couple of them on your friends list who will go with you to camp/farm ingrediants that you will need to make profits. Another thing you MUST do, is get your first guild item. Get the spectacles before you start the rainbow road.

you should use these to level clothcraft from 65-72. you want get much sell back off of them but dont let that fool you. you wont have to spend as much if you go the silk headband to 69 and battle bracers to 72.

plus the recipe is much easier. i suggest finding a friend who has max fame to buy them for you. ive heard of some people paying 1700 for one, i dont have max fame at all and im getting them for about 1200 each.

sell back on valefor is about 2800 on valefor at the ah. seven have sold in the past 24 hours. try selling them in sandy maybe? slight loss but what can you do. welcome to crafting.

sellback to sell/dump NPC is 19 gil. again....welcome to crafting.

ya deffinately it would be awesome to be able to have a chocobo training as a crafting skill so that you could eventually train your chocobo's and breed black, red, gold etc.

FFVII? I think FFVI is a lot better. But that's my opinion. What other Final Fantasy games have you played?

ya i have to agree FF VI is alot better than VII tho i did like VII alot

VI had so much more story and charictor variety not to mention a truly magnificent soundtrack it was over all the best FF game ive played and ive played all but 3 on nes

most people who say FFVII is the best have only played the PSX ones and up or started with FFVII so they only really like it cause of the 3d look

most oldschool RPGers know the SNES was the golden era of RPGs

I think a big online game like this would be a perfect opportunity to utilize the different breeds of Chocobos. Heck, they could even do something crazy like bringing back the Fat Chocobo!
