Does any one know if they changed the bite rate on Bhefhel Marlin? Back 3-4 months ago I used to be able to fish 3-4 marlins a boat ride with fishing @ 39/40, now I'm only able to get 1 up ; ; and lvl 43 now
So I'm trying to get fishing to 30 because I was told that was what was required to fish up Marlins (and it's the minimum to recive the quest which ultimately leads to the Mercurial Kris). Currently 18.5 and fishing Nebs on the ferry, but I occasionally catch Noble Ladies and I noticed they're actually a few lvls higher than Marlins. Does anyone know if I would be able to catch these at my lvl? And if they would offer better skill ups? I've been using a Halcyon rod for the Nebs because it is said not to break on them (which indeed it has not... yet). I assume since this is a large fish I would need a stronger rod, and would likely opt for the mithran.
PS yeah, these things sell for so much on AH now-a-days because people are doing this quest and it can take like 40 Marlins just to get the map, and the Kris only seems to drop on about 1/15 fights... so... that's a lot of fish.
u trade these in for a pirate's chart that is kind of a little bcnm outside selbina the ??? on whitebone beach i think it is best way i seen it done was 3 smn's pop the nm's and then call forth the god of thunder then u 2hr and judgement bolt before anyone gets hit
these usually sell for guild test but also when history of AH shows a bunch selling on the same day it was because some one traded them in to the guild for guild points.
Who do I have to talk to so I can have a ugly baby picture in my avatar ?

Yes, what you've heard is true. FFXI's endgame is just a giant E-peen swinging contest, with the majority of time spent standing around, and watching Moon-faced nerds "compare" video game "accomplishments" with each other via flame-wars on forums/in-game.
My fishing skill is only lvl 11, and I caught Two Marlins on the ship with a Composite Rod and Bluefin Bait. Is that normal? Especially if it's used for a 58-60 cap test.
Hi, this is my first post on this site ^^ , but I have a question about these, while on the boat to selbina, some japanese player just randomly gave me two, no idea why, but oh well. When eaten, if they can be eaten (I didn't try) do they add any stats? I didn't eat them because they sell for 3k-4500 each in windy on Kujata, so wherever you are random japanese guy, thank you! ^^ and I see that at some point they sold for 10k and one for 50k in jeuno!!! maybe someone will buy them there! lol
