can anyone tell me if this key is used for anything else other than for AF quests?
Not as hard as it used to be.
Retrace -> Sauromugue [S] -> Garlaige [S] -> Garlaige -> Coffer
Got coffer on my own within an hour. I was lucky on placement tho. :D

HA 1st one we killed and we got it took us what a matter of 2 mins
Easily soloed the key as a 63MNK/DNC.
The real fun was keeping my HP up high so none of the other skellies would notice me. >.<;

Got help from two 75s, an RDM and a WAR, and we started killing everything that dropped the key. Two and a half hours later no drop, and even when I do finally get this annoying thing I'm still gona have to hunt down the coffer...
Why do I persist with this game....?

The game continues to astonish me...
Went back the next morning with a few 75 mates, killed a Vault Weapon first, took much longer than my last party did to kill it, and I was getting ready for a long slow wait again for the key.
It dropped off the first mob we killed.

so im on my 28th hour of searching for this stupid key off of fallen majors, hellmines, wraiths, over weapons, vault weapons... finally got it off of vault weapon... Took friend 10 minutes, and me 28 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf
I was just in a party in Garlaige and we got the key drop off of either a Funnel Bat or a Chamber Beetle. I am 99% sure that it was bat though.

I have been here for four hours soloing Fallen Majors, Fallen Mages, Wraiths, Over Weapons, Vault Weapons, and Tainted Fleshs. I just want my damn coffer key!

Ah it's times like this, when I hate this game. First off it took a couple of months for me to get help with this (not fun, infact very fustrating) I finally get help from a Galka, MNK/THF JP, killed a couple of the mobs that drop it, as I run by a bettele and bat, sneak and invis decide to poof away, I get attacked by 2 beetles, and a bat, end up dead and go back down to 59, get a raise about 20 minutes later, a JP BST joins, and in about 5 kills I finally get my damn key, now it'll be even more of a ***** to get help finding the Coffer, and fighting the dark spark.

Easy 3BST Lv54,54,55 use bats to fight Hellmine,got my key in second fight,and 10000exp in 4hrs without the empressring
If you can, avoid fighting the undead here for the key! Especially if you are a melee (or BST). Instead fight the weapons. 100X easier (and I got the key on the first fight ^^)
Edit: nest of weapons just south of the large room on the 2nd floor (where you fall into if you are not careful on the first floor)

I hate this key so much, I've been trying to get it for 5 hours now. Is it true that if you have a monk in the party the drop is easier? I sure do hope so.
Vault Weapon drops this as well, just got mine off the first kill.

was in a skill pty as 55 rdm, trying to get sword up from a pitiful 115, meet a 62 pld skilling his staff, joined up(i think he wanted me for my Refresh) and started killing, a bit later we got a 69PLD, then a 72rng & 62 sam, i asked if we could try mages and majors, and they said yeah, the 69 pld left, and the 4 of us had fun killing them, after a few the sam left, and we kept killing them, got the key on like the 10th mob after sam left, Hr or so lator we called it quits(lvl115-140ish in 2hr) asked for help with coffer, the pld said yeah got 2 LS mates to help with doors, we each took a spawn and after like 20min it poped right by me at the creamatory! poped it for my pants and immideatly got agro from a beetle >< sleep2+ warp and i was happy:) got back to jeuno just in time to get a G2 pty! That was a good day
I tanked and did the dmg for 1hr, and got 2 keys. With no TH....although I do have millionares desk... =O

yeah.. so i finallly got the key..
after a first attempt of 4+hours with no drop ><
2nd attempt went great.. started with 7 ppl, incl. Armentarius, Minmay and other good ppl (i'm sorry i don't remember your names anymore ; ;) and along the way we ended with 11 ppl, incl. my RL buddy Dpgc. It was fun and relax. No worries and we chained like crazy. Mostly Weapons, wich also dropped the 3 keys we're looking for. Just have a good party/alliance and have fun with it, b/c patience is the key word.

I have had this key since Lv.52 from a exp pt and have (no joke) spent 5 weeks and 40k exp loss trying to get my freaking crown. I always get left behind the gate2 and hope it spawns when i run out of prisms and oil. The closest i have gotten to it i ran up to one a tainted meat spawned and i got killed, while im dieing a whm nabs the chest while meat is occupied. I have long since given up, only to return with 3 rdms or whms. I would continue, but I rather dislike the thought of my friends calling me "Princess Nightfire". (yes I'm a guy)
Edit:Finnaly got the crown! Went to garlaige and found a bst friend lvling got him to fight the enemies guarding chest and warp, lol.

I got my key from 2 bst that were lvling!! they invited me to their pt and the i lotted for it.
The hard thing is not getting the key!! is getting the coffer. I spent like 6 hrs and got killed 5 times!! is a pain in the *** this coffer hunt, especially because u need 3 ppl to open the gates.
I recomend to open the second banishing gate and wait on (G-7). In that spot u wont get aggro and then every 30 mins invis and search for the coffer, if it isn't spawned return to your mini camp and wait another 30 mins etc...

Got 4 of these keys in 2 hours while skilling up.
2 from Over Weapons, one from a Vault Weapon, and one from a Fallen Major. These monsters can all be found downstairs. No need to go through the banishing gates.
Also got 10 skill levels on my club :D

Does anyone know the acctual ammount of time it takes for the Coffer to respawn after it's been opened?
I've heard estimates from as low as 10 minutes. And I've heard as high as 4 hours (Coffers in general)
