From what people are saying about the drop rate, it doesn't sound that bad. I'm a 16/8 BST/WHM and when I get 17, this would help so much with charming.

This bird is the most camped NM on the Bahamut server. took me 2 days just to get a claim and i always had 4-5 ppl camping it also (for the 80k on the AH....not for the staff). if ur a damn lvl 75 THF....why not camp something tougher for better money?
Had no trouble killing Hoo Mj...(aka f-head) as a 30BST/THF and manage to go 1/2 on the signa, but took 3 days to get the 2nd claim because of the competition. BTW...IT IS A RARE OCCASION.....BUT HE CAN SPAWN BELOW THE CLIFF!!!

2 days of camping paid off
went 9/10 on claims as 29Brd/Whm and fortunately for me and i had no competition for the most part except for the one time
the 8 other times i got all mitts and got Monster Signa
i was about to give up on em cause my patience was running low but it paid off

Are you guys Serious i was farming for Yagudo Necklaces for my Ninja Spell killed all Yagudos and got the Monster Signa 1/0.

I used to play on Midgard under the name Phalian and cancelled my account which had millions on it. I started again under the name Knice and decided to camp this mutha again like i had so many times before.
So far i'm 2/3 on the pull and 1/2 on the drop. I'm pretty happy that I got this POS because everyone who has ever camped this guy knows how much of a pain he is.
The crappy part of it is that when I had my old account back before the PS2 release the Signa sold for 400k. Now it only goes for about 100-150k so I'm just gonna have to keep camping to pay for my crafting addictions. Goodluck to all my fellow Hoo Mjuu Hunters^^

If you bought this for 7k your extremely lucky. And you are mistaken, it does not have the same attributes as the Holly Staff +1. The allure of the Monster Signa is the CHR+8, which makes it exceptional for Bards and for lower lvls Bsts
I decided to camp Hoo Mjuu after having some difficulty charming some mobs with my BST. I researched the NM on every forum I could find, and found that some info was good, while others were just bullsh*t. Here are my experiences with Hoo Mjuu the Torrent on Unicorn server.
First off...I camp Stray Mary and Hoo Mjuu, swapping when there are too many ppl camping one of them. The job i've camped with is WHM60/BST30...so that I can tele between Mea and Dem, as well as have /charm. I have my own beliefs that BST has a hidden treasure hunter (I've gotten many rare drops w/o /thf for TH) But once again, its all personal preference.
Spawn Locations: The map on cannotlinkto isn't 100% correct. Once you get up to Hoo Mjuu's plateau, there are 6 spawn locations -- which are all over the plateau. Just take a close look at where the Yag Medicants spawn and you'll see 6 spawn points. The best spot to stand as far as viewing angles seems to be the high rock in the middle of the plateau. You can't miss it, it kinda juts out over the edge. I've gotten most of my claims from seeing him spawn on that rock, and it provides easy access to any direction you need to run to claim.
Placeholders: The Yagado Medicient is the placeholder for Hoo Mjuu. I've tested this theory on the few times I was the only one camping. There are some who say that killing anything but the placeholders will lengthen the spawn time of the NM, but idk, i think thats bullsh*t, but whatever floats your boat. Personally, I don't bother killing the rest of the Yagado just b/c I don't need any of the items they drop, and it distracts from looking for the NM.
Claiming: I've seen almost every job out camping Hoo Mjuu, and I stand firm that /bst is the best way to claim. I've had Hoo Mjuu claimed before these /thf even have time to get their crossbow out. My reasoning for /bst is that /charm is an instant claim, and has a very long range (hmm...longer than provoke, and i belive about the same as the RNG's shadowbind). You might want to try darts with your thief. I've heard this is extremely fast, most thiefs that camp the Theif's Knife NM use darts to claim.

I finally got the Moster Signa to drop from Hoo Mjuu; i was beginning to think it was just a myth after killing him around 15 times with no drop and never seeing anyone else who got the claim, claim they got the drop. I just started camping him with TH2 and the fifth time I killed him, I got it. WOOOO HOOOO! The sweetest thing is there was a red mage campimg him at the same time, but he logged right before he popped. He would have got the claim too. Findeiyd, if you read this, thanks for logging. :)

I used to camp this thing hard core, til I realized there was better ways of making money.
Decided to go back camping it about 2 months ago while a static friend was camping some NMs of his own. In ONE week I went 3/9, before that I was about 5/50 give or take a few claims. Made me have some money to mess around with that week (bout 1.5 mil, one drop was a split cuz a friend claimed it for me).
Too bad its not 2.7 mil like it was during my one drop. Now going for 300k on Midgardsormr, when I got my 3 drops it was 500-700k and the other 5 were 700-2.7 mil.
Then a month later I got rich on the BCNM "Dropping like Flies" so Ive just been getting real lucky on the game, which is needed if you want to keep your gear good for SAM at 70+.
Also a lot of GS bots are there nowadays... I got 2 banned in that 1 week span.. first one I reported because they said they raped my mom after fuming off at me in Spanish. Then the next argued with me because I claimed it faster than his bot, I told him to go /unanon and was a Rank 1 level 50 MNK/THF, then I tried talking to him like a normal person and he said "this is my job" in rough english (he was Mexican too).
I did feel kinda bad for him, he basically tried to talk to me like a normal human being then I stabbed him in the back, but RMT's deserve it, and now he doesnt have a job unless he levels another character.
BTW good hint if your ever camping against a noob bot like him, they will use flee EVERY TIME, even if they can Chi Blast/Voke from where they're standing, do a 360 degree turn and press your voke macro non stop. Sometimes the 2 seconds Flee takes can give you enough time to get the claim and thats why he thought I was a GS/Bot.

Now 0/3 on this annoying thing. My friend and I are camping this for a surprise present for our friend. There's actually one more we didn't get claim, and I think those guys got the signa. /sigh.

I've never had much luck with even SEEING a non-event related notorius monster spawn; this guy honestly was the first one. I was camping him for signa against two dragoons, a paladin, two white mages, and a few random naked runner bys that would stop and ask for ToD.
I get one dragoon to admit he's got a signa, and only wants the mitts, so if he gets signa, he'll give it to me. 4 spawns later, he and I are the only ones left, and we feel like racing to see who can get claim first. I'm 40 red mage subjob 15 theif, so I'm relying on a fastcast1 dia to grab him. He spawns as the dragoon is running by, he doesn't see him, I move in and dia, get claim. This is my first NM spawn witnessed, as well as first drop. I got the signa I so badly need for my bst.

LMAO @ you. Mitts are dirt cheap. Signa sells for 500k- 1mil depending on your server. Are you really that gullible?

Man, i was there for over 12-14 pops on this NM Hoo Mjuu the Torrent but i kept losing the claims to this BOT named Bigegg. I would watch with hawk eyes but he would start moving id follow but he would be halfway to Hoo Mjuu before he poped. It was just me and him all those times every1 else gave up on trying to get the claim. But there was 1 time the BOT wasnt there when i was running through. But this time there was over 6-9 ppl there. They would run around and kill everything and I sat and waited.He poped and i got claim over a Ranged Attack some1 did because i was BLM35/WAR5 ^^ so gimp. But i got the claim, even though i got silenced and every1 had trained about 7 mobs to get hate i killed him..... no F****** drop but mitts. The other thing that sucked was i gave the mitts to a friend before i relised they where 60k on Caitsith >.> So i sold all my +1 Seers gear and other gear i didnt need and bought it. I dispise that BOT if anyone in Caitsith report him to a GM i would apreacite it. Because i almost got banned for "GM call abuse" by some retarted GM.

Just got the signa as a Rdm41/blm20. I was farming necklaces for norg fame when he popped and I was surprised to see no one was camping him, so I attacked and it dropped. Now I'm 1/1 on this guy. I feel kinda bad for the guys who spend hours camping this thing and kill it multiple times without drop, but I suppose that's the way the game goes.

does TH help the drop rate at all or lessen it?

Thats the questions of all questions isnt it, unfortunately there is not a straight answer out there for you, some say TH helps for rare/ex others say no, i dunno i cant honestly say i camp NM's with thf all that much yet still lvl 41 though i did kill Falcatus spider NM in Kor tunnel, im 3/4 on the scythe with TH2 but 6/8 of possible Spider Web drops, LL 2/4 with TH/TH2 and i think 0/1 on VE. The scythe is rare/ex also as the spider webs are normal type drops which i guess would be the MS considering its not tagged rare or ex. No idea though take the information i provided and do what you will guess you will never know though till you lvl a thf granted farming with thfs are much more fun then farming with a smn >.>

1/2 on the claim (my first time.. just happened to be around for the BCNM60). We lost the BCNM all 4 times in a row and before bed I decided to camp the NM ONE time (did it once on the way there waiting for group). I was seconds away from giving up on my running around trying to confuse the other campers -one of which had TWO in his moghouse already (he told me) it happened.
Both the other campers used flee and ran my way. I took off the opposite direction so they both turned around to follow me thinking I knew something (perhaps?). At that second I faked them out and turned back the original way, he popped, I cast dia and got him split seconds before they saw him.
They spent the whole time spamming Cure V trying to steal hate :(

Really funny to hear these really low drop rates...i have actually got 5/6 on this drop...:P, but i have told friends on the game exactly how to get the drop...their is a secret, but im not telling :P

So I was farming on beehive chips when this guy popped. I was surprised because there was NOBODY camping it. I got the claim and got the drop. One step closer to my ochiudo's kote.
i have a friend who was in giddius earlier today because he had nothing better to do because his Zilart wont install properaly on his comp so he cant get passed 25. well anyway he saw it and said that since it was a giddeus NM he could kill it. he killed it as BLM24/RDM12 and gotfrop of Monster Signa. he asked the LS how much it was worth. one person was going to AH to check butsince he was in Jugnar on foot it ttook him awhile.
My friend then goes to farm beehive chips and silk thread. runs out of room and drops Monster Signa. 3 sec latter the [erson going to AH says "Ok the monster Signa is worth... WOAH!!! O.O" then a pause my friend said What? then he goes Monster Signa = 1mil... my friend cried so Fing hard i had called him 30 min later and he was still crying.

I really hate this NM. I ended 360 beta 0/38 and got mitts or deodorize each time. I was using 30-33 thf every time w/ war sub. Pop times were from 5 miuntes (happened three out of the 38 i was there) - up to 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Alexander experience with this nm is 0/2 using 59 rdm. mitts & deodorize.
It would be nice to actually get drop, and not have to buy.
Total = 16 mitts 24 deodorize 0 staff.

Im off to camp this this weekend, my first NM, any advice would be awsome. Im thinking of doing it as 25 pld/war. I got 32 blm/whm also.

i'm on the 360 test server... i'm 26/30 on the claim and 0/26 on the drop... i'm getting VERY angry now...
This firggin bird stingy 0/6 0/6! i swear its gotta be cause im a mage.. i have never seen anyone get the signa. its almost as if it doesn't happen. I have tried everything.. Had my NM partner with TH2 hunt it i have meleeed it as blm.. i have hunted it with TH1 nothing works.. i have stood ther and let it use all its JA but nothing.. What is the key ?

im currently 0/6 on this 3/6 got the mitts pretty easy to camp but it is not 1-2 hour spawn from what ive experienced on Remora its more like 30 minutes - 3 hours. Got two of the 6 claims when all the campers left for a hour to let the timer run down 2 of the 6 were 30-45 minute spawns. However claim 6 was near 3 hours....
Another Tip is if your high enough level to take no damage from the bees through out camping attack one and let it train around you, makes it harder for others to grab the claim when there cycling through your bee train. ^.^

Actually you CAN use mob names but only certain ones as well as pc's BUT it will not let you use this trick with notorious monsters believe me ive tried once and lost claim on spook and was like well back to the old Mug/Steal method, so yet it does work so to speak just not with what everyone wants it to work with :P

Q: Name of place holder?
A: Yagudo Mendicant looks just like Hoo Mjuu, but Yagudo Persecutors and Yagudo Pipers are also PH's.
Q:USEFULL tips on camping him?
A: When a lot of people are camping it I like to stay in one spot and hope it spawns near me. When not too many people are camping it I do a little pathed out run I have... first I start out on the rock thats sticking up out of the ground and look to my left with the arrow keys and if I dont see it I jump off the rock and run in between the 2 trees next to the rocks and look to the right with the right arrow key. If its not there I run to the left around the tree so Ill see near the ponds and then on the right side of the camp and then run back around through the trees repeatedley until it spawns.
On the weekend I stayed for Hoo 8 times and was 8/8 on getting his spawn but 0/8 on drops. That makes my new rate 1/14.

I have actually had a 3hr spawn so i would guess its 1-3hr spawn... ^^; hope this helps

I am 0/3 on this one.. Cliamed it my first try against 7 other ppl. It spawned right beside 3 of them and i didn't even see the name till my poison macro went off and he ran ove.. since then i haven't claimed it yet . guess ill keep trying

I FINALLY GOT THE DROP!
Amazing thing is I was a 34 WAR 17 MNK... I didnt even have TH. Only me and another guy were there (Level 75 THF/RNG). It spawned 2 feet away from me. When I got it I almost fainted because when I was fighting it I have to think "Without Treasure Hunter I have no chance at Signa what so ever".
Sold it 2 days after I got it for 2,750,000 on Migardsormr. Really helps me now that I have money.
BTW here are my rates:
0/3: When PTing with LS member who has TH 1.
1/3: Soloing.... w/o any TH.
