2 days of camping paid off
went 9/10 on claims as 29Brd/Whm and fortunately for me and i had no competition for the most part except for the one time
the 8 other times i got all mitts and got Monster Signa
i was about to give up on em cause my patience was running low but it paid off

I decided to camp Hoo Mjuu after having some difficulty charming some mobs with my BST. I researched the NM on every forum I could find, and found that some info was good, while others were just bullsh*t. Here are my experiences with Hoo Mjuu the Torrent on Unicorn server.

First off...I camp Stray Mary and Hoo Mjuu, swapping when there are too many ppl camping one of them. The job i've camped with is WHM60/BST30...so that I can tele between Mea and Dem, as well as have /charm. I have my own beliefs that BST has a hidden treasure hunter (I've gotten many rare drops w/o /thf for TH) But once again, its all personal preference.

Spawn Locations: The map on cannotlinkto isn't 100% correct. Once you get up to Hoo Mjuu's plateau, there are 6 spawn locations -- which are all over the plateau. Just take a close look at where the Yag Medicants spawn and you'll see 6 spawn points. The best spot to stand as far as viewing angles seems to be the high rock in the middle of the plateau. You can't miss it, it kinda juts out over the edge. I've gotten most of my claims from seeing him spawn on that rock, and it provides easy access to any direction you need to run to claim.

Placeholders: The Yagado Medicient is the placeholder for Hoo Mjuu. I've tested this theory on the few times I was the only one camping. There are some who say that killing anything but the placeholders will lengthen the spawn time of the NM, but idk, i think thats bullsh*t, but whatever floats your boat. Personally, I don't bother killing the rest of the Yagado just b/c I don't need any of the items they drop, and it distracts from looking for the NM.

Claiming: I've seen almost every job out camping Hoo Mjuu, and I stand firm that /bst is the best way to claim. I've had Hoo Mjuu claimed before these /thf even have time to get their crossbow out. My reasoning for /bst is that /charm is an instant claim, and has a very long range (hmm...longer than provoke, and i belive about the same as the RNG's shadowbind). You do what ya want, but ranged weapons are a joke. They just take too long to claim. Even if i'm out of range with /charm, I can usually get in range to use it before /ra can shoot.

Respawn Time: I've been keeping a log of the death time of Hoo Mjuu, and I have yet to see a pattern in the respawn time, other than it takes at least an hour. I've seen ppl say that it there is an exact pattern (one guy said take the van'dail time it was killed, add 1 day + 3h20m, and it will spawn...bullsh*t) Here are the past 3 spawn times on 12/27, you make your own judgments.

Killed - 11:34 AM / 16:35 Firesday
Killed - 12:47 PM / 22:56 Earthday
Killed - 2:40 PM / i forgot to write down van'dail time, it was 22:00 Windsday i think

All times on previous days were also between 1 and 2 hours. Make your own judgements.

Drops: I'm considering using BST/thf in the future (bah, no teles!) to test out if TH really helps. As of now, I am 1/10 on the Monster Signa (and 10/25 or so on claims....couldn't get claim as /thf with a /ra or /ma flash).

A little side note, I got the Monster Signa my second claim with /bst on a New Moon (0%). So to hell with TH and the moon theory. /bst FTW.

How good is the signa for BST? I got the drop today and I'm trying to figure out should Keep it for my BST or sell it.

I camed this nm proly over 100 times, and i killed this NM now 30 times (with TH1)
in Phoenix. this nm sucks prity much ; ;

Now 0/3 on this annoying thing. My friend and I are camping this for a surprise present for our friend. There's actually one more we didn't get claim, and I think those guys got the signa. /sigh.

Surprisingly, there's little people camping this. No rmt. Surprise surprise. Two Japs the first time, a Jap WHM who left after we claimed the first one the second time.

I went as rng/thf, shadowbind the thing to beat flash.

That sucker dropped deodorize all thrice.

Just got the signa as a Rdm41/blm20. I was farming necklaces for norg fame when he popped and I was surprised to see no one was camping him, so I attacked and it dropped. Now I'm 1/1 on this guy. I feel kinda bad for the guys who spend hours camping this thing and kill it multiple times without drop, but I suppose that's the way the game goes.

My God i hate camping this NM, i have always wanted one for my bst. but there are always 2-3 ppl camping him by the time i get there i have claimed him twice lucky but all i got was zeolott mitts 1/2 an im 0/2 on signa =(

i really wish i knew how to hack, really, im not RMT, im not a game hack, and im not lieing, doesnt matter if no one believes me i know i did it and just thought i should share... didnt really know everyone would accuse me of stuff...jealous...lol

Really funny to hear these really low drop rates...i have actually got 5/6 on this drop...:P, but i have told friends on the game exactly how to get the drop...their is a secret, but im not telling :P

sorry if this sounds whiny. i've tried over and over and over to get a monster signa, and no luck. every time i go, there's like 10 people. and i'm not fast enough to grab.
but i shall perservere! cause i AIN'T giving up millions of gil for an item i can get for free!

So I was farming on beehive chips when this guy popped. I was surprised because there was NOBODY camping it. I got the claim and got the drop. One step closer to my ochiudo's kote.

I really hate this NM. I ended 360 beta 0/38 and got mitts or deodorize each time. I was using 30-33 thf every time w/ war sub. Pop times were from 5 miuntes (happened three out of the 38 i was there) - up to 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Alexander experience with this nm is 0/2 using 59 rdm. mitts & deodorize.
It would be nice to actually get drop, and not have to buy.
Total = 16 mitts 24 deodorize 0 staff.

i'm on the 360 test server... i'm 26/30 on the claim and 0/26 on the drop... i'm getting VERY angry now...

im currently 0/6 on this 3/6 got the mitts pretty easy to camp but it is not 1-2 hour spawn from what ive experienced on Remora its more like 30 minutes - 3 hours. Got two of the 6 claims when all the campers left for a hour to let the timer run down 2 of the 6 were 30-45 minute spawns. However claim 6 was near 3 hours....

Another Tip is if your high enough level to take no damage from the bees through out camping attack one and let it train around you, makes it harder for others to grab the claim when there cycling through your bee train. ^.^

Q:How about pop rate?
A: Spawns every 1-2 hours, Ive found a lot have come closer to 2 hours than 1... I even waited 2 hours and 20 minutes for one.

Q: Name of place holder?
A: Yagudo Mendicant looks just like Hoo Mjuu, but Yagudo Persecutors and Yagudo Pipers are also PH's.

Q:USEFULL tips on camping him?
A: When a lot of people are camping it I like to stay in one spot and hope it spawns near me. When not too many people are camping it I do a little pathed out run I have... first I start out on the rock thats sticking up out of the ground and look to my left with the arrow keys and if I dont see it I jump off the rock and run in between the 2 trees next to the rocks and look to the right with the right arrow key. If its not there I run to the left around the tree so Ill see near the ponds and then on the right side of the camp and then run back around through the trees repeatedley until it spawns.

On the weekend I stayed for Hoo 8 times and was 8/8 on getting his spawn but 0/8 on drops. That makes my new rate 1/14.

I am 0/3 on this one.. Cliamed it my first try against 7 other ppl. It spawned right beside 3 of them and i didn't even see the name till my poison macro went off and he ran ove.. since then i haven't claimed it yet . guess ill keep trying

I FINALLY GOT THE DROP!

Amazing thing is I was a 34 WAR 17 MNK... I didnt even have TH. Only me and another guy were there (Level 75 THF/RNG). It spawned 2 feet away from me. When I got it I almost fainted because when I was fighting it I have to think "Without Treasure Hunter I have no chance at Signa what so ever".

Sold it 2 days after I got it for 2,750,000 on Migardsormr. Really helps me now that I have money.

BTW here are my rates:

0/3: When PTing with LS member who has TH 1.
1/3: Soloing.... w/o any TH.
