These are really good for the WHM Maat fight, as you never actually attack him but instead just try to last five minutes against him. The less he hits you, the better.
I was wondering if these earrings would be good when fighting maat as Thf. Sure the point is that you would be blinded but how bad would that be compared to +30 evasion?
Did someone try this maybe and could blind be countered with more accuracy?
Yes, a THF just needs to steal a Scroll of Warp to beat Maat. Yes, a WHM just needs to stay alive long enough and take a certain amount of damage from Maat to win. Melee jobs are the main jobs that actually have to beat Maat, RNG, WAR, PLD, etc.
So, no, these earrings would be rather useless in fighting Maat as THF.
Well, when you're blind, it takes away a number from your accuracy, not a percentage or anything, so I'm pretty sure that if you used a blind potion and had a bunch of ACC gear on, you wouldn't have much of a problem. The only thing is, you may be substituting good gear for ACC gear. I haven't tried it, but that would make sense to me. Reply if you find anything out.
These earrings are great- I used them from 57 to 68 (upgraded to death earring).
Mages should consider having a pair of these and a few blinding potions, the +30 evasion is nice if you have to Benediction, Manafont, etc. They saved my @$$ on several occaisons.
They're the earring of choice for WHM Genkai 5 (Maat battle), although I found this questionable due to the fact that Maat casting Flash would override the effect of blinding potions.
What's the -Accuracy you get from using a blind potion? If you're blink tanking as NIN/WAR, I can see this being incredibly useful, but if you were to use it outside of a party, not sure the negative to Acc would be worth it. Any thoughts?
Actually, it's Eva[Gold]sion[/Red]. And he's not asking about this item's evasion bonus but the accuracy loss when using a blind potion so you'd get the evasion bonus in the first place.
Extremely nice equipment for nin especially if u can get two .... bring some blind potion and tadaaa +30 evasion... kind crazy if u think about it because the best evasion earrings up to this lvl would be the measly dode earrings for +3 evasion a piece
this is aquired after finishing Zilart Mission "Through the Quicksand Caves." (8 i think) where you get the key item "prismatic fragment" which lets you fight the NM for the second to last boss in the ZM series.
anyways, once you have the Key item, you just touch the headstone which popped the NM Doomed Pillgrim for ZM5
The quest is called soul searching. This is a self quest. You must first kill doomed pilgrams in the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/bestiary.html?fmob=1984 until you get a prismatic fragment. Afterwards, trade the fragment to the cement headstone. You will then receive the Bat Earring
Actually, you can't trade the Prismatic Fragment back because it's a Key Item. All you have to do is go touch the Cermet Headstone and you'll get a small CS and then boom, one earring ^^
There is no North American documentation of the quest to obtain this item that I know of so here's what I found on the net with the help of a rough translator.
Start conditions: A prayer of holy place Jeter's light is taken with the missions "an ancient monument pilgrimage" of a frontier district.
Reward: Bat Earring
Title Obtained: It is a °“±‚ person to a holy place.
Instructions: In the journey of a pilgrimage, it ended in the middle of the thought. Set persons' regrettable soul free!
missions "-- if holy place Jeter's Cermet Headstone is investigated after clearing " exceeding style »“´ -- an end
Hope this helps...
Note: There is no activation NPC apparently. You just need to reach a certain place and trade an item or start an action.
