madheloundlh's post

madheloundlh is exactly correct. on fairy at the moment... the beads are around 1 mil and the staves are around 3-4mil so.... really the woodworkers are getting ripped off here.
staves

do the stave's HQ versions add more of a percentage increase than the regular versions when using the corresponding elemental spell?
HQ staves
# Jan 17 2006 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
another gripe about inflation:
if people didnt sell elemental ORE for so much then the people that made the ore into BEADS wouldnt sell those for so much and the fact that the HQ staves are lvl75 wood(which means even at 100+3 wood you'll only make about 1/7 HQ) so woodworkers dont make that much overall. Prices would be more reasonable if the rest of the gaME economy was stabilized. But it is a little more complicated than that. personally I blame it on Gilbuyers. YES gilbuyers not the sellers. if there was no demand than there'd be no gilsellers. So stop blaming GS's and those that are buying gil....you should feel ashamed.

If you thought fenrir was bad, check out asura's prices:

Vulcan's staff: 7-8mil
Aquilo's staff: 7mil
Auster's staff: 9mil
Terra's staff: 8mil
Jupiter's staff: 12mil
Neptune's staff: 12mil
Apollo's staff: 5mil
Pluto's staff: 6.5mil

...The amount I put into my set was a LOT less than this. Glad I did it when I did.

Haha many wrong answers about the hidden effects... First, this staff does NOT make shiva free. I wish. It is only -3 to both shiva and ice spirit perpetuation. It also increases the power of ice nukes by 15%, lowers their resist rate (by how much i dont know) and makes aero spells WEAKER by 15%. This is the exact same for all +1 staves, just the elements are different. It will always add 15% to the correct element and subtract 15% from the opposing one.

Correct.

That's exactly why every BLM should try to get the whole set, regardless if it's HQ or NQ. RDMs should get the whole set too and so should SMNs. Personally, I bought the NQ set then worked towards HQ pieces, one by one, until I had all 8.

Don't let the INT+4 (INT+5 on Aquilo's) and Elemental Magic Skill + 10 make you think this is the best staff for BLM. Because it's false. All 6 are equally useful and so is the dark/pluto's staff. Heck, I even own apollo's for my light-based enfeeble dia and backup curing. Granted I'm a whm too so hey... I did it for that reason as well I suppose.

I do know for a given fact that the staffs help their respective elements stick better on the mob compared to using ice staff (ie; casting Thunder III with Jupiter's staff does more damage than aquilo's staff even with the INT+5 and Elemental Magic Skill +10), but a thought is... I wonder if they INCREASE resists on the opposing element? An interesting idea that I'll test out but I think it just weakens them by 10%/15%.

Price
# Apr 11 2005 at 4:56 AM Rating: Excellent
The reason these are so expensive is not because of gil sellers, the reason is the same as why Amemit mantle +1 costs so much. Crafters spam the recipe to make the +1 items that are in high demand. After all the crafters make severaly NQ staves, they have to get rid of them, and since ALL crafters of this item are making them exclusively to get the +1, this is not a result of gil sellers. This isn't intended to be a flame but I get sick of peope blaming gil sellers for everything. if people didn't buy gil no one could sell it.

Right! ...the gilsellers with 100+3+3 woodworking, the level 75 BLM RDM and SMN gilsellers that want endgame gear. Right. Those gilsellers.

No wonder you quit.

Agh, I envy you people on cheap servers... Lakshmi has these going for about 1.5 million gil. Some of the other HQ staves are even more. The NQ staves are all above 200k. On a side note, Raise III is 1.7 million gil. Noble's Tunic is 13 million.

Going for 700k last I checked on Seraph... looks like they will go down though since they don't sell too regular and more of them have been being made...

Torn between saving for one of these or getting a couple more normal staffs >.< thunder, wind, and water prolly for raptors...
incorrect hidden effects above
# Jul 12 2004 at 10:01 AM Rating: Excellent
The above post is greatly mistaken on the hidden effects.

this staff gives:

Blizzard series damage +15%
Blizzard series resist rate -15%
Aero series damage -15%
Shiva perpetuation cost -2.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 23 2005 at 4:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Where did you come up with your numbers for your "hidden stats"? pull them out of your ***? You may claim to have proof even, but I have never seen any proof of any type of hidden stats in the game, and I really don't care if a char with every job @75 tells me there are hidden stats, I'm not gonna blow a mil on an item hoping he's right until I see proof with my own eyes.

There really arent any 'hard facts' if you will. A lot of people ahve done testing with and without this staff to come to this conclusion. If you actually would stop trolliny these item lists, and look through the forums, you might actually find this info. SE can't/won't tell you any of this because it's game data. The only way to get this info, is to do testing, which has been done. If you don't like the results, then don't buy them, simple enough.

Nope. Shiva perpetuation cost is -3 on the HQ ice staff. It's -2 on just the ice staff.
