well im now lv 40.. and have synthed 6 stacks of feathers past 40 and have not lv'd.. no this synth will not take u to 42.. and the feathers are now 10-11k a stack.. so not worth the 1k the fletchings sell for.... start silk thread or get help on insect fletchings
i'm planning on growing wind crystals and farming for feathers b/c i only want to use this recipe to raise my skill, but don't want to incur a huge loss. But what I'm wondering is, at what level can i start making these to raise my skill??
take tabi to 34 or wool thread to 35, then do fletchings
you CAN do things 10 level gaps, but you WILL break alot in the early levels, get adv (paid) support, and only craft on same day (ie, wind) for the first couple levels

Wind Crystal -> 100 gil Bird Feather -> 2000 a stack, or 167 gil each
So for a stack of 6, that costs 434 gil. Multiply x2 to get a stack, that costs 868 gil to make.
What I don't understand for the life of me is WHY these sell for only 300 a stack!?!
Bird feathers are a constant 2k, no NPCs sell them consistently, the fletchings are used in recipes that would still make a profit if they were more expensive, what is going on here?!?!
If anyone knows why these sell so cheap, please let us know, it's really annoying to me.
It is because someone once decided that they wanted to sell their stacks of fletchings more than they wanted to make a profit. So they dump them onto the martket at a savage loss. It's primarily because it is used as to raise clothcraft rather than as an profit earner, thus dictating the price at which others can sell it.

Also it takes 6 times as many fletching and arrowhead synths to get the same amount of attempts to level the arrows they are used for.
In other words. If you synthed 100 times to get flecthings it would yeild you enough to do 100*6 arrow synths. So if you are doing, for example like I did the fletchings and arrowheads to max cloth/bone skill... 83% of them are surplus. Now I could just save them and use them for when I want to actually use the arrows on my RNG, but screw it... I don't have the inventory space ;o]
This assused it takes the same amount of synths to level off of all of these recipes of course.
except that these fletchings are used in multiple arrows recipes, and some people make these arrows for profit, not simply to level. another good example is yagudo fletchings which more poeple would be leveling on since its' lower level, and yet i had to make my own when i was leveling woodworking b/c there was never any for sale. so while im' not completely disagree-ing with you, i'd say that it has more to do with people trying to get rid of 50 stacks of fletching FAST than anything else.
