speaking of 'dumbarse' it activates when your hp is RED (<25%) the lvl 50 rings are the ones that activate in yellow hp (<75%) thanks for playing.

O.O im getting this rate up to the dude with the idea for maat fight!!!!
Wear this!
# May 18 2005 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent
This is THE earring to wear in dynamis. since no one seems to have spelled it out, latent on lvl 50 and 70 JSE jewelery is HP in the yellow and TP at less then 100%. AOE wipes your shadows and stoneskin the first time around, the follow up aoe magic damage reduction will save your butt long enough to get buffs back up sometimes. Once your HP is yellow in dynamis one/two more hits and you're roadkill and as for tp over 100... if your tp gets above 4% your probably dead from the orc beating on your head with a stick. If you're on crowd control in the thick of battle it's well well worth the slot.
It does work

Latent Effect activates when life is BELOW ~50% HP

This saved my butt big time in my RDM Maat fight.
After Convert and Cure IV, he managed to sneak in a Blizzard III. Blizzard III did only 30 DMG! Previously without earring, I would get 200 to 300+ DMG from a level III spell in the Maat fight.

So, to all RDMs out there about to fight Maat, this can save your life in a pinch with this on.

Learn math.

30/70 = 0.43
0.43 * 100 = 43
43 * 0.7 = 30.1

Incase you're not quite there yet, and assuming he'd have hit you for your lowest claimed damage:

200 * 0.7 = 140

You're either way underexagerating the damage Blizzard III did, or you got lucky and resisted it, as well as having the 30% knocked off.

ok let me clear this up for everyone, it wont't work as rdm sub, why?

bcs its only used my rdms

plus its lvl 70, so i dont know how u can have a lvl 70rdm sub
lol
# Oct 26 2004 at 2:44 PM Rating: Decent
i doubt that the latent effect is activated by subbing rdm, since its a rdm only earing

i've seen high level rdms use it. so its probably not triggerd by having a rdm as a sub

I just got this earring it looks cool and all but it is more then likely yellow hp for this, which I will love to try with Behemoth, yellow hp + meteor + earring = safe if everything goes ok.

All AF earrings like Warlocks earring are based on hp not subjob. I hear that the belts are the only things that are affected by subs but I dont believe that either.
Latent

I've been told that the latent for this is having a blm sub. I've got one more level to test this out to find out if it's true or not.
hmm

Is it possible that this is triggered by having rdm as main or sub?
Im only throwing this in as a possibility cause rdm are *fencers*

Lol... It's only usable by RDM. So no, it's not triggered by being main or sub RDM. :P

I'm relatively certain that all the lvl 70 job specific earrings are triggered by yellow HP.
re: trigger?
# Jul 01 2004 at 7:39 AM Rating: Decent
It's considered the norm for the Latent effect to be triggered by health going yellow. In a few cases there are other triggers, but there is usually a sensible reason why health being in the yellow wouldn't trigger it. Taking less damage when you are hurt makes a lot of sense so it's a fair bet that the trigger is the nomal one.
trigger?

Just a Theory: maybe the latent effect is triggered by equiping the BCNM50 ring by the same name?
