@ Alchemy 68 I get "Synthesis Cancelled: The combination of items cannont be synthesized." on the first recipe. After buying 100k in ingredients I am highly irritated. Can anyone else confirm that the first recipe doesn't work?

So, though I'd skillup on these since this site says you dont need smithing...
After 21 fails in a row, I decide to lvl smithing, just in case.
And I'll be damned, you need smithing for this one aswell.
Also caps at 14, like the other. Might be worth updating.

I've been skilling up on these since 70. Skill ups are pretty good, and while they don't sell extremely fast, they do sell for about 2k on Odin(they seem to sell decently in Sandy, so I throw them on a mule there, out of site, out of mind ^^). Some quick numbers (disclaimer, Odin specific!):
Recipe #2 seems to be the more cost effective one (I raised smithing to 10 before this, it was really easy to do so I suggest doing that instead of trying recipe #1.)
Stack of wind crystals: AH 2.5-3k per stack
Venom Potions: AH 7k/stack (cheaper than making it yourself in most instances)
Bronze Ingots: AH 8k/stack, if you can outcamp the peeps at the smithing guild I think it's <2k/stack, or to make yourself: 4k/stack fire crystals + 35*12 tin + 7*36 copper = 4722 if your up for extra synths
Animal Glue: AH 10k/stack, but this I can HQ so I get the rabbit hides from sandy for ~100 each, and buy bone chips for 2.5k from AH. Can't say exactly how much this reduces my cost with HQ's, probably only a few k gil.
So on average it probably costs 25-30k to synth a stack of them, depending on where you get things from.
These materials make 6 stacks of bolt heads with no breaks.
Each stack sells for about 2k (Jeuno is also 2k, but with the 500 tax becomes 1.5k).
The moral of the story is that you lose money on these, but it's better than alot of the other recipes in this range (i.e. venom potions don't sell very fast on AH and for much below cost, npc for i think 300 or so when i tried a few), but skill ups are rather fast. On a new moon I got .4 in alchemy from synthing one stack of these, and my smithing capped to 14 in only a stack or 2 after starting.

On the recipe number two the smithing also capped at lvl 14.

Yep, my smithing capped at 14 as well.
This isn't that great of an item to try and skill up on. Made 20 stacks of these and only got one level. ><

I just synthed a ton of these to level my alchemy up. My Smithing skills capped at lv 14 also so I'm pretty sure this is the smithing cap.
