Spelunkers are good drop rate

From my semi-limited experience in Quicksand caves killing Spelunker's for Star Spinel, I'd say they have a drop rate of about 1/4 to 1/3'ish for Stems. It could also have been luck of the moon etc. I've had very bad drop rates on all other cactuars (also from limitd experience).

I have played around in the Altepa's with both Cactuars and Sabotenders and have never had Cactus Stems drop from these sadly. :/

I can confirm that these are a rare drop; during my playing career, my main source of income was from gardening, and I always wanted enough cactus stems to run some tests. I got some from the quest, and a couple from time to time from the cactuars, but was never able to find any correct recipes, nor did I ever find any at any of the AHs. I DID one time get 1 adaman ore when I planted in arcane pot, iirc, but unfortunately I dont have my database anymore to confirm (note how tentative the revered Pikko is in her discussion of stems). And yes, there are no sites that I could find anywhere, in any language, that gave any decent info. I don't think that this is hoarding information; I think it is due to the rarity of the item.

I'm interested in trying to farm cactus stems. Does anyone have any information on which type of Sabotender has the best drop rates? Any ideas on hunting grounds?

Thanks.

I had the same idea. As 72SMN I can walk to the Sabotender Bailaors without sneak, and carby soloes them easily, 1000 needles does 500 to it.

But, the drop rate is horrible. Been killing them for an hour now, and haven't seen a single stem drop.

Asked a 75SMN where she farms these, said she kills Spelunking Sabotenders... but those are behind the weight sensors, so I'm gonna stop.

What exactly do these cactus stems look like, right before they are about to be harvasted? Do they look like little cactuses? If say, I definitely plan to just dry them and use them as decoration, because I have gil to throw away like that... ^_^;

ffxi.cannotlinkto lists very few results for these (only 6 things listed), it says 2 fire crystals in a brass pot gave 33 little worms, all others listed are for porcelain pot: 2 earth crystals giving 4 yellow rocks or adaman ore, 2 ice crystals giving 2 gold ore 2 light crystals giving 3-4 white rocks, 2 dark crystals giving a black choocbob feather or 3 black rocks. Thus obviously the vast majority of results are not listed there.

How long does it take, in Earth days, for cactus stems to fully grow and ready to be harvested? Hopefully its less than tree saplings and tree cuttings.

Anyone have any guides to growing these? I've looked on a ton of sites, even some JP sites and I can't find any info. My guess is whatever is harvested from them is being kept a secret to not flood the market like Elemental ores did.

Gold leaves, Various Colored stones and rock salt. Rumors that Adaman ore could be harvested. No leads so far for harvesting info.
