I recently noticed a LOT of people in Quifim using the Rogue Rig with if I remember correctly a Composite Pole catching Mythral Swords.Anyone know what thats about?

Rouge Rig and Robber Rig are for catching shall shells and items not fish. Stop complaining about it being useless, it's actually quite good if you use it as it was intended.

You should never talk when you don't know what your talking about... I know for a fact already you do not have anywhere near lvl 100 fishing... so could it be somewhere in between that gap, this rig starts to do what it is supposed to?
rogue rig is like sibaki, but its meant to catch slightly larger fish, near the surface of the water. In other words, this is very good later on to mass fish things like carp and bass.
rogue rigs are used mainly to catch items. it is BEST for catching items, such as semi-fish like shall shells, rusty equipment, kelp, and etc. it CAN catch fish, but it is rare. it is considered "bait" or "lure" as it goes in the ammo spot and does not require extra bait.
so you shouldn't talk when you don't know what YOU're talking about. this rig is not good for "mass fishing" carp or the like. i've never seen carp caught in more than single form.
The rogue rig will catch moat carp on rare occassions. The bite rate though is so small though its not worth using it for moats. The rogue rig specializes in catching stationary items such as rusty items and shall shells. It will occassionally pull up other fish far below your skill lvl but they are few and far between. It will never pull up more than 1 of an item or fish.
actually, as someone else said, you can catch cobalt jellyfish with this rig as well... main reason is jellyfish is considered "junk" in the game, not counted as "fish" when you are casting... so this is a good lure if you are trying to catch items or jellyfish at lower levels ^^
Rouge Rig only catch rusty item This Rig is very usful to catch Rusty Cap, because it sell for 2k each, and you can craft them into padded Cap for 2.7k each using Light Crystal
You should be around at least level 50 in fishing to be able to make good use of it. If not, you'll only catch rusty items. I'm right at fishing level 42, and the only things I'm catching with it are crayfish, sardines, and the like.
And yes, it is true that when you get a high enough level in fishing, you CAN catch Moat Carp with it. You'll need a rather sturdy rod, though.
Here's my thought on the Rogue Rig. I'm a lvl 16 fisherman fishing in Salbina wearing Anglers hose. I only had the Rogue Rig on me so I thought I would give it a try. I wound up catch Colbolt Jelly's and Rusties (of coursse). My thought is that the Rogue Rig *will* catch anything but will only allow you to catch things well below your fishing level (rusties which have a skill cap of 0 and Colbolt Jelly - skill cap of 3-6). This is just a hypothesis, since i haven't tested it save for that night in Selbina. Just wondering if anyone else had any information on it.
I'm sticking with my trusty fiber glass and insect paste for moat carp. Rogue rig looks like the Sabiki rig, just for fresh water tho. Tell me if I'm wrong
www.fishermanrods.net is a great site that lists every fish, item, or quest item you can catch in the game. It has a button of an english version and it breaks the fish down by what rods and lures you catch them with. The skill cap of the fish and where you can catch them.

It is true that the Rogue Rig can be used for catching moat carp, but it can also catch other types of small fish as well. The only problem is that to make good use of it you have to have lvl 50+ fishing skill. I made the mistake of buying one while my skill was lvl 8 and all I could pull up was rusty paraphenalia. Supposedly it is fantastic when you have high fishing skill, but don't buy one otherwise.
The Rogue Rig isn't used to Catch only moat carp. I own one. It catches pretty much EVERY rusty item or regular item that can be fished up. Buckets, Gil, Lumber, etc. It can VERY RARELY catch a fish, and this is rare.

Aenoch,
Posted: Mar 1st 2004 1:01pm, Score: Sub-Default, [expand] This is highly incorrect. I know for a face the sabiki rig can catch moat carp (do it all the time). There are several kinds of bait that can be used to catch moat carp as well.

It says right above (Exceptional Result of: Sabiki Rig) meaning HQ result.
Just because it is an HQ does not mean the synth recipe is different.
Not blaming the site kuz I should have noticed... but I bought materials and was like "wtf!? Sabiki??"

You catch more fish with Robber than Rogue. Rogue has a wider variety of fish it can catch, but the bite rate of fish is extremely low.
In other words, Robber is better at catching Shall Shells and Vongola Clams, and Rogue is better at catching Rusty items.
what a big waste of $

Do you need bait for the Sabiki/Rogue Rigs?
i see Sabiki says it has baited hooks and Rogue says it just latches to the fish's scales but do you need to buy seperate bait?
