I'd just like to post something I was wondering about... In the Tenshodo near, in the second room, there is this NPC taru called Sutarara.
After you clear the Tenshodo access quest, he congrats you as follows :
"What ,You're a tenshodo member now too? And you're not going to GIVE ME an invite ? How dare you!"

I don't know if this is a hint about what to do with the other Invite you get : maybe trade it to another NPC ? (sutarara or any other)....

Well I just tried posting a message but it didn't work and now the whole message is deleted so I'll just get right to the point. There's an npc inside the inn run by the tenshodo in Lower Jeuno right before the Auction house. When I talked to him he asked about being part of the tenshodo and asking for an invite. I never did the tenshodo membership quest so I haven't tried it but please let me know what happens if someone tries it. Thanx. Hope this helps! ^^

EDIT: It's the place where they sell rice balls for a lower price depending on your tenshodo fame. Some people check the price of rice balls in order to know if their fame is high enough to do the Ninja Scroll quests in norg.

Honestly I have never tried to trade the invite to a NPC.
But mostly it's given to friends or sold on AH for another person to do this.
What for ?

Wha a hell is tenshodo i was wanting to join but i dotn know what it is what do they do?
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 23 2004 at 3:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It is the Mafia in FFXI... Which you would know if you read the forums and the quest descriptions... Just a bit of free advise that you are of course welcome to ignore - since you didn't ask for it - but asking the question the way you did is hardly insentive to get someone to answer you... Give that some thought.

also, to do part of the rank 5 mission (technically 4-1, the mission that gets you rank 5 and airship pass) you need to speak to an NPC inside tenshodo HQ. he gives you key items that let you retrieve the beadaux magicite. in order to speak to him in the first place, you need to able to enter tenshodo HQ, which means you need to be a tenshodo member.

The Tenshodo aren't really the Mafia, in the truly illegal sense, they are more of a Trading Cartel - as the guy in Bastok says, the Tenshodo deal in things no-one else supplies.

A lot of the Tenshodo stuff has to do with the Samurai and Ninja Zilart Jobs, and feeds into the items they use, directly or indirectly. Ninja scrolls are mainly quested or purchased from them, at least at low levels, and materials such as Tama-Hagame for the Katana and Great Katana weapons are sold by them.

It's pretty essential to be a member of the Tenshodo if you are a SAM or NIN, and having high Norg fame (the Tenshodo's real base of operations being in Norg) helps.

Other Jobs will find some of the stuff the Tenshodo sell useful - not least the 150k you can get for selling Utsusemi: Ichi to people who don't want to spend their time farming Yagudo Necklaces or Zinc Ore ^_^

Hope that info helps you.

Where is phoenix perch?

Where is phoenix perch?
This is the building in Lower Juno closest to the Residential area.
What city and loc etc.?
The city is Jeuno and the approximate loc is I-5 or I-6 on the south-east side of the bridge.
What is the name of the lady Mithra behind the counter who has the third option you need to select?
This lady will tell you how to join the Tenshodo. You then need a Tenshodo membership form from the basement of Warehouse 2 (F-6)in the Bastok Port district or a Tenshodo Invite from some player already in Tenshodo. This is the same place you turn in the 4 zinc for the shady business quest.

If you face the Auction House in Lower Jeuno, the Pheonix Perch is just off to your left. The person you need to talk to is the Mithra just inside the door.

If you have enough fame, you can get one of these for free by speaking to the person in the Pheonix Perch and selecting the hidden third option. Then you get an app from the Tenshodo branch in Bastok, come back, and get Tenshodo membership and a free pass to give to someone or to sell on the AH.

i'd like to elaborate on this a bit for the other players that seem confused.

in Lower Jeuno there is a place called the Neptune's Spire Inn, on the map @ J-7. upon entering the inn, there is a small kiosk on your right hand side where you will find an NPC named Ghebi Damomohe...this is the same NPC you talk to when you check your rice ball prices as a rough indication of Norg fame before travelling to Norg for questing utsusemi:ichi and tonko:ichi.

when you talk to Ghebi, she presents you two options, "show me your wares" and "nevermind" (paraphrasing). if you scroll down you will find that you can actually position the cursor BELOW the "nevermind", on a hidden third line. select this line and Ghebi starts talking about how not many people ask about the Tenshodo but she will tell you a little bit about them.

once you have talked to Ghebi, you can THEN go talk to Silver Owl in Port Bastok (warehouse 2, downstairs in the back) and he will say something to the effect of "oh, you've been to headquarters...here" and give you the key item: tenshodo application form. you can bring this back to Ghebi to become a member of the Tenshodo, and she will give you a Tenshodo Invite which you can either sell at AH or pass on to a friend. if you try to talk to silver owl before Ghebi tells you about the Tenshodo, he will only say "i have nothing to sell you" and will not give you the appplication.

of course, the short version of this is to buy the Tenshodo invite at AH and bring that to Ghebi, she will give you another which you can sell right back on AH for a total cost of 0 gil. however, since i had to see Ghebi anyway before heading to Norg, and since i am bastokan, it was very easy for me to take care of this during my regular travels back and forth without planning any special trip. if time is a factor just buy it at AH.
