Well,

I'm a new level 13 Paladin and I've tried both Fish and Crab. I like the fish better cause I take 10-19 damage in the Dunes. I used crab and I take 15-25 damage. Is it different when I get to level 30?

yes its harder to make and ya its a higher syns lvl but the best overall food for defense in my opinion is seafood stew because it gives u 25%defense 5vit 20hp 1dex and it lasts for 3 hours
does a pld food get any better than that?

True, seafood stew is better but think about the hard part. Getting it in stock, I've seen it sold maybe once every few days since ingredients are so hard to get (Gold lobsters) and you need high level cooking(87) so its not worth it to make.

It's good, but I don't think it's the best, considering it only gives us Defense and barely any VIT. At higher levels, best food is Steamed Crabs, seeing it gives us more VIT.

Ikari

P.S. If you're a low level, go buy Fish mith's for defense since at low level's, the best stat for a PLD is DEF. But once you get higher, you should start looking at the Boiled/Steamed crabs that gives you more VIT.

true, few con's and pro's for steamed crabs vs fish chiefs

i myself prefer steamed crabs cuz of few things

1) stat wise, it is better (more VIT and thats what tanks want)
2) cooking lvl wise, steamed/boiled crabs caps at lv 27ish, so its overall easier to get HQ
3) doesnt require such a large investment to make boiled crabs (only need about 6k or so/stack) and you can make a stack... (fish miths need about 50-70k investment if u dont fish the fish.)
4) if u do fail.. u dont get too heartbroken from materials lost

but.. i dont like making them because

1) only makes 1 at a time, so i gotta spend longer sitting infront of my monitor synthing these
2) not much people know this kind of food.. many people think fish mith/chiefs is THE food for the tank.
3) maybe i guess people prefer to have +1dex and +1chr (rumour that CHR increases provoke potency, but hasnt been proven so dont take my word for it)

so, IMO, crabs are little bit better, but if ur a fishermen + cook, make fish miths..

When you HQ this item you can get 6, 9, or 12 fish cheifkabobs -- just like with meat chiefkabobs.

Im having trouble understanding that last thought, but it your asking if the ChiefKabob adds additional stats or just last longer, it does indeed ad +1 Mind instead of -1 and it adds +1CHR
hmmm.

Perchance this'd give an extra stat boost or is it just like the extra time given by a meat chiefkabob? Thoughts...?
