The skill cap on this item is wrong. The recipe was given to me by the middle NPC at the woodworking guild at level 74, so that means the cap is somwhere between 75 and 80.

is it alchemy or woodcraft that upgrades the obelisk
depends... people do crazy stuff on this game... and this isnt reall that farfetched

Yes, In fact I'm about to have it as my backup weapon along with my Hunting Sword/Kite Shield.. ^^

PLD w/PLM is like DRG w/H2H...

Well its fun way to melee. My friend is a PLD and we've been in parties where we had 3 PLDs with a couple of PLs rotating and he chose to use a polearm. Out of the 3 (same level) he did most damage and no one died. Whm put haste on him, he had a +1 polearm so he did good and was a back up tank lol the other wanted to pull while the other main tanked. So PLDs with polearms arent as bad as they seem. Some PLD use them to solo and make quick work of some annoying weaklings while some may have switched from DRG and still want to use WSs and not sword or GS ones.

No a Paladin would most likely not use this particular lance, but I know as a Paladin I keep a couple weapon skills up to lvl. Most importantly Sword & Shield, and Great Sword, but some of us use Lance/Polearm type now and again usually during farming to keep the skill up.
