Icarus Wing  

Just for the record. It is like a food. There are different foods you can use that have *instant* effects rather then long term effects. E.g. any HP or MP regen food. It's wasteful to reuse them until the *instant effect wears off (the regen/refresh), but you can. While long term food makes you "Full". There are medicines that give you a medicine effect (all magic drops, stat-boost potions, icarus wings, hyper potions, hyper ethers and a few others). These are "long term" effects much like food where, after using them you are unable to use another or similiar item until the long term effect wears off. For potions its 5 mins, for drops its 1/2 hour, and personally I have not used icarus wings, but apparently 2 hours. This is done to balance out the effects. E.g. imagine if you could regain 125 mp every time you poped a hyper ether and could constantly use them. With that amount of MP blms could spam ancient magic w/o taking a knee... Basically it would make blms Pals, darks and rdms invincable... Just imagine if you had 10 hyper potions, and 10 hyper ethers and took on a lvl 85 hnm... All of a sudden a pal/blm becomes dang near invincible, smn/rdm same deal... At high lvls you can spam spells use your avatar, and abilities and never have to worry about dmg or mp... Ok, that's just over the top, and the price would kill you, but with the icarus wings, this would be the same thing with sams. I am sure everyone has seen a sam use mediate, third eye, Tachi: Empi, icarus wing, Tachi: Empi, 2Hour (can never remember the name), Tachi: Empi, Tachi: Empi, Tachi: Empi, and if they are lucky, Tachi: Empi... The dmg on that is obscene, through just one blm in there and it goes to the point of rediculous... 2 and you have gone to plaid.

Anyways, medicine is simple an effect like food that prevents you from using multiple items together such as stat boosts, TP boost, Mega HP boosts and mega mp boosts repeatedly.

Now the Super ethers and potions use Dragon blood, and take forever to use (and you are disabled from performing an action for an obscene period of time) basically making them impracticle to use (hence the introduction of the new potions). But they will give you the same MP or HP boost, and not give you the medicine effect. Unfortunately, again alchemy gets rooked in the fact that, though overly expensive, you can buy your way out of food status by getting an antacid (20-40k to make) or if you are in jeuno, simply trading a gyshel green to a specific taru will remove it. While medicine status is there until it finally wears.

Personally, I have found, as a tank, keeping one or 2 hyper potions on me has saved my butt many times. If the whm runs out of mp, or if my shadows are down at just the wrong time, and I could see a hyper ether working in a similar way for a whm and or paladin. However, I haven't seen too many ppl use them in exp parties (I am lucky enough to be able to make them myself).
