I have always been weary about this desk and its "rumoured" treasure hunter, so many people swear by it yet so many other people are quick to call BS on it. Anyway the price on these has dropped from 1,000,000 to 300,000 on my server over the last few months, so I thought I would buy one to put it to the test.

Now I'm a goldsmither who farms, mines and grows his own materials and I am currently farming Tree cuttings in the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah, to grow into nuggets for crafting, and quite frankly the drop rate is crappy with out treasure hunter, but after going back with the desk in my MH the drops were insane I got 9 tree cuttings in a row, it was windsday at the time, (dunno what moonphase was) Windsdays probabally my best day for farming cuttings, but 9 in a row was in incredible drop rate, if felt like I had just wolfed down a lucky egg omlette, sprinkled with diced rabbit tail and chopped 4 leaf mandy bud.

Now was this the work of the desk, or was it just coincidence? We all have our lucky moments, I think to belive it was the desk it was too much of a coincidence. I cant wait to log onto tomorrow and run some more tests.

Well ;x I thought it was a rumour about the desk giving th bonuses. But someone gave me the desk for christmas and Im wondering now if it will really work. Gonna keep it for CP points anyways but can anyone give me a link to the article where it was disproven Or I read someone here said they had screenshots where the effects were proven. Just curious and want to know one way or the other. ^^; would be nice to be able to get up to th6 ^^

I think it's 96 Goldsmithing 51 Smithing 60 wood cap.
Ancient lumber is like a lvl 72 Wood synth but I think the cap for wood on this particular synth IS 60.

I would like to make one but the woodworking(--) and Smithing (--) has me worried. Does anyone know or crafted one successfully here that can tell me thier Smithing and Woodworking? Also two of my roommates have these and you get the Moghancement:Conquest, but apperantly you can't have anything in your mog house layout wise( No furniture or what have you).

the guy who said someone was making 100mil a day? that cant happen cause the most gil you can have is 99,999,999 the only way he could have that much is if he have more gil in his DB or he was buyin a whole lotta expensive stuff

Some would say i have TH2+5.
Some would say i have a pile of junk..

from what i have seen my drop% has improved greatly after obtaining all four of these items (within 2 days to get all)..
I farm spiderwebs in west altepa.. within a timespan of 2hours, i can get 15-20 webs. i have even had a few times where they'd drop consecutivly.. most i had drop was 4 in a row.

anyone who hunts spiders might notice that their droprate = jacksh*t, compared to this

Bought mine in Shiva for 900K, read all the rumors and wanted to see for myself. Well I first heard about it from a high lvl friend of mine who decided to buy one and test it, While farming, which he hates since his drop rates were always horrible he noticed an increase in drops so he bought another desk to see if it stacks, which he soon found out it doesn't.

Lvling my RNG and NIN from 7-10 I had ok drop rates using signet and the aketons (which increase crystal drops). Drops were as follows from lvl 7-10 in Gustaberg Vomp Hill.

RNG: 12 Earth Crystals, 2 Wind, 3 Fire, 10 Random items (Ores, Bat wings, Sheepskin)

NIN: 6 Earth Crystals, 2 Fire, 1 Wind, 7 Random items (Bstseals, Bonechip, Sheepskin, Ores)

Now lvling my MNK from 7-10 with the desk, signet and no aketon drops were as follows.

MNK: 12 Earth Crystals, 12 Wind Crystals, 9 Fire Crystals, 3 Sheepskin, 6 Ores, 8 Beehive Chips, 10 Bstseals, 3 Insect Wings, 2 Goblin Masks, 3 Wild Onions, 4 Pots of Honey.

This difference made me really think it might actually be true or maybe my MNK was just lucky, Out of all the mobs I fought with MNK, only 4-5 didn't drop anything. I have yet to try an NM so I'll be back to update. Even if this was just a fluke the desk is still nice to have in your MH and that should count for something right?

Use to have this for NM hunting sold it for 3 mil >.> made a 2650k profit from it ... but after wards my drops went down the hole >< I havent gotten a big time NM drop from any thing cept Rare/EX ones like the O. Cross bow thing in Gustav. I'd have to say this thing does boost your TH ability in my oppinion.

Has the affects of this been proven at all?

been reading the posts, i think i know a little...
The TH +2 makesthis ideal for a thf 45+ giving him a total of TH +4 then at level 70 when you get TH3 thats a total of TH5 and if you buy the (insert high amount of gil here) dagger that gives TH +1 for THF only (note this) you will get a total of TH6 which i would kill for if your main or sub is not THF, this anything TH+ is worthless because u have nothing to be added too. so if your a level 30 + job with a 15+thf sub you get a total of TH3 with this desk thats the equivalent to a THF lvl 70 with no TH+ items. Now the rumor of it having to be placed in a certain place in your mog... this should be investigated when i have the gil i will buy this, and test it out but if someone does test it out please post your results, they would be interesting to see.

judt bought the thing and just dinged 75 thf so im gonna be farming alot to save enough gill yo lvl rng. ill ler u know if its any change in my normal drops ill be farming cuttings if u guys r wondering. if this things sux its goin right back to the ah :P

The only difference I noticed after buying this desk was a lighter purse. On THF main and /THF no difference in drops. After shifting gil between mules to try with more and less than 1 million gil, nothing. No obvious changes in synth success or HQ or material loss rate.

Please don't bother posting anything that "someone told you" if you can't personally back it up. One time my cat told me that I should run for Prime Minister, and the next day the PM was assassinated. It was really just my cat trying to knock me off so it could molest my dog.

Moral of the story: Buy this desk if you have alot of gil, it looks nice in your mog house. DON'T buy it if you're poor and trying to make more gil, because NO ONE has proven it has any indirect gil-enhancing effects by increasing drop rate/rarity or synth success rate. Do not listen to your cat, it's a liar. Do not leave your cat in the same room as your dog - it has ulterior motives.

Hidden Secrets Uncovered

Well, it sounds like most people are all mixed up on the enhanchments on the "Millionare's Desk" so i have ran many tests and studies on the Desk and how it does effect your drop rate's Synthesis and many other aspects of the game so here is what i have came up with:

TH +2:

The "Millionare Desk" Does have the enhanchment of TH, So what does this Mean? It means the following: You have to be lower than a lvl 45 Thf that already has TH2 to get the effect, So that confirms most of the information that people were saying that there was the possiblility of TH3 Because there isn't. The desk gives the effect of if you are a thf lower than lvl 45 you will get the added effect of TH, meaning that you will have another TH ontop of the TH you already have giving you TH2. It has also been said that it will give you better drop rate if you are over a lvl 45 thf this is true, but you have to have THF MAIN and you cannot sub thf and get away with it.

Synth effects:

Some things people do not know is that It "MIGHT" have a Synthesis effect rate to increase Synthesis, but has it been tested i have only seen it been tested on Cooking once and it didn't increase the rate at all, but at the same time what the kid didn't realize is the DAY and Moon phase that he was Synthing the item so that could have decreased his sucess rate and further more made his Information FALSE, nobody is sure that it will increase you Skill for synthing because it has not been tested on all Crafts but the information that one kid has on this fourm about 8-10 lvl's increase if False BLASPHEMY do not pay attention to his fourm post.

Gil for Effect:

People that say that you have to have 1 million gil for the effect for it to work there is NO Information to back up that Argument so WHY should we believe them? we have no reason too. for my testings i do not believe that you don't NEED or Should have a Million gil in you inv. for the effect to work its just false information to steer people away from Purchasing the Desk.

Now, i got the desk tested it with a lvl 40 Thf on many different mobs With And Without the Desk in my MH and the results were amazingly different i got alot more drops off of the mobs with the Desk in my MH so it does work. i also tested it out without the desk in my MH and the results were terrible compared to the ones with the Desk in my MH(Read the info on TH +2 before)

I also tested with a lvl 45 Thf and the drop rates were nearly the same

NM's:

The two fellows Theiry on the Leaping Lizzy drops are accurate in some way, but not at all so i'm gonna clear that up right now, a Notorious Monster has its own drop rates and it increases and decreases on the Day, and Moon phases and also on you effect of TH or TH2 so if you have TH and you have the "Millionare Desk" in you MH then you will have the effect of TH2, which will increase your Drop rate from the NM, but people that are already lvl 45 Thf and have the "Millionare's Desk in there MH will NOT get another TH+ to there TH2 You can't get higher than TH2 with the "Millionare's Desk", but the desk will increase drops rates to a certain Percentage.

Enhancemnts:

Not everybody that has a desk does not know if it has hidden effects because they have not been tested at all but the one i know for sure is the information on TH+ adding to your current TH and the increase of the drop rate Percentage! So i suggest that you test the desk and Hidden effects for yourself and let us know how it works out, also pay attention to the Job/Subjob you are using because that also could effect the Results, keep all Days, times and moon phases so you know How that might effect the Results also.

FYI(For Your Information)
I had a little chat with Sqare Enix and some of the producers of the game and i also called a little chat with a GM for fun, they gave me a little helpful information on the Desk, that i am not in Libberty to say right now but i can tell you that the information that i have posted is very much so True.

I was told online [Kujata] that you have to have it in the right spot in your MH for hidden affect to work. lower right or left side. i forget but will find out where and how my info man knows this.

Here are some stats on this desk... I guess you can decide if the testing was valid enough or further testing is required. I figured the best thing to do was to test in the same manner most individuals would actually play the game.
So I took two mid level jobs and farmed 100 low level mobs with and without the desk in my mog. It should be noted that the enhancement for the desk is Conquest points and I have high lightning energy in mine for Experience. But you would think if Thief 2 is a side effect of the desk it would make no difference.
However, I also took two entry level jobs and leveled them to five and had only the desk in my mog. Ok enough talk, here are the stats:

One major item of note. You can see how when I switched to the 46 Thief that the drops went up significantly. Obviously this is because of Thief 2. Now if the desk gave you Thief 2... you would think when I did the Beastmaster that there would have been a fairly significant change in dropped items.

Anyway I hope this helps some. I guess I could test all the days and different moon phases especially the full moon but for a 1 million gil item I believe I have the answers I need. I still have to test the crystal breaking theory but I'm wore out from testing. Take care.

Ok I read somewhere in a recent post that it gives you TH+2 if you don't already have it, i.e. it doesn't stack for TH IV if your a lvl 45 THF

So I could be a war/nin and have TH2?

Seems very doubtful

The devs have said otherwise, I'll think I'll take their word over yours seeing as they would be in a much better position to know.

There have been a lot of posts surrounding the claim "Hidden Effect" Treasure Hunter +2", but very little discussion regarding the "Hidden Effect: Synthesis Success Up." Does anyone have any information, hypotheses, theories, or suspicions surrounding the crafting aspect?

Is the Synthesis Success Up helpful for skilling up, preventing breaks, HQing?

I'm a 72 Alchemist and just curious. I don't have the desk myself, but just wondering. {Take care}!

Just b/c you had "amazing dropz0rs" 1-2 times after getting the desk, means about Jack and sh*t. Try farming 1,000 or more of something with it, then 1,000 more of the SAME thing under the SAME conditions.. THEN you can make a half-decent valid argument.

Until somebody does that, I claim bullsh*t. It's a crafting and CP item, and that's that.

I'm an avid camper of Leaping Lizzy. I averaged 1 drop in 7 kills before I got this desk. After I got it, I started getting a drop in 2-4 kills, reliably. I hadn't thought of it, but needing 1mil+ on you for it to have effect -might- be true, because the last drop I got was after 7 kills again and I only had about 500K on me. Of course, my luck could've just fluctuated too.

I've noticed this helping in other places too.. Took a group of 5 people into Phomiuna Aquaducts to go after JSE subligars. 4 of the 5 people had been trying a long time to get theirs and we got all 5, plus 2 extras in about 1.5 hours. With me getting the last hit on everything, our worst drop rate was 1/2. It was a lot worse before we started letting me get the last hit, so I now believe in this rumour too. I was THF/WHM at the time, btw. Lol. :p

I've noticed the effect when farming a lot of other random things too, and I'd also add that the bonus from the desk does -not- come into effect unless you're THF. THF sub might work. I dunno because I'm never THF sub. It's either all or nothing. :P

Btw, Millionaire Desk is the -only- furniture in my MH. Been debating getting a 2nd desk, but I don't know if they stack and dunno if I wanna waste money to find out. :p
