Ok this guy is pretty much a proon NM all you need is a 70+nin or a 74+thf and hes dead because his acc is horrible and he attacks crazy slow hes got a good amount of hp though.
A l'Outrance is most likely 100% drop rate ive came across this guy 2 times and have goten it 2/2

tonight two buddies and me decide to go get me this scythe... after being there for about 45 mins or so Hellion pops...
it was 75BLM 70PLD and me 66BST...
at first hellion starts ripping the pld a new one but we got a hold of the situation quick... we had my toroma tank it for a while and in the end i got myself one shiny new scythe
this nm isn't as hard as most peeps make it out to be..

This {Bastard Sword} killed me a few days ago. It aggros at lvl 62, but doesn't at 70 (my SAM friend). So that should indicate it's level. Being a BLM it hit me for ~300. Resisted Sleepga also.

I was mostly getting this to have a Rare/Ex scythe my level, and in case I ever took my Bst to these heights. I'm a lvl 65 Drk, with a TON of Acc+ equips (Woodsman Rings, Life Belt, Assault Earring, etc..) And I didn't think I would use this over my Vassago's, but after equipping it and trying it out I might be wrong. In Xp parties I tend to sub Samurai (of course I have thf sub if they request it...) so a 480 delay is very nice because overall I will hit more often and accumulate TP faster. The interesting thing I noticed is that my Dmg vs. XP mobs is nearly identical to the dmg I was doing with Vassago's despite the Dmg on this weapon being 9 less. Now, going in to the level range where I get to xp off the Catoblepas this could be nifty. Since the added effect kicks in 100% Vs. Beasts and so far it's done right around 40 extra dmg every time, That's a signifigant increase in dmg per hit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing out my Vassago's, but so far this scythe is definetly not just ideal for Bst.

I just posted this on the BST forum, so I thought I'd share here too:
I finally managed to get my hands on one of these! I've been eyeing it since Lv61 and I'm Lv66 now. I just thought I'd share my experiences with it.
First of all, the fight: I was down in Onzozo with a RDM73/RNG6 who was skilling Archery, a WHM66, and myself, BST66/THF33 to hopefully help with the drop. We were just camping Mysticmaker for that evil drop (0/5 now). We decided to kill the Hellion place holder too, and what do you know, Hellion spawns!
I immediately started freaking out, knowing how tough this NM is, and trying to plan the strategy. The RDM said he had 8 people from his LS coming and made it sound like they were coming now. So we went and I 2hr'd a Torama to get ready for the fight. Then he said they were going to be like 20 minutes before they showed, so I was getting worried that I had wasted my 2hr.
As luck would have it, another BST that I know who had flown past me to 75 showed up and offered his assistance. He grabbed another Torama and we went to town. With WHM casting Banish3 for the def down effect, and the RDM debuffing, Hellion went down easily with only two Torama, neither died and A l'Outrance dropped!
I went to try it out and, unlike Demonslicer, the additional effect of this scythe seems to go off almost every time, which pleased me. Now I can happily finally move on from the Demonslicer. :) On a side note, Ivory Sickle is probably a better Scythe for BST at 66 now, but the ingredients are hard to come by and I do not yet have the Goldsmithing required to make it, so I'm very content with my french A l'Outrance scythe. :)

If anyone cares, the darkness effect always has effect as long as you hit the mob, and its a beast. Looks the same as a Vaggaso's Scythe for anyone thats wondering. So, umm... yea.

lol take ur time on lvling caus eonce u hit 50 it gose from a sweet 6k or 7k to a big ass 13k tnl plus the Vassago's scythe can beat this in so many ways

Aye, the +5 Acc from Vassago's isn't something you'll want to give up till 69 and the Hauberk set.
At 62, you'll still want to hold on to Vassago's Scythe. This scythe is pretty good for BST but nowhere near a DRK quality scythe at the level.

This may be an attempt at french, like many item names in this game (any "au Lait" consumables come to mind right away)... it should therefore be named À Outrance, without the " l' ".
When you do something "à outrance", it means you overdo things. It's just a kinda funny (and appropriate) name for a scythe :P

actually au lait is because it is a consonant after au, a l' is that way because outrance starts with a vowel, kind of like a and an.
